  1. Goes to show what YOU know... Sears has NEVER filed bankruptcy. the only thing the company did was to merge with Kmart...and Sears is the owner of both chains.
  2. Ok...either you are blind, or just have blinders on... I see the MKX on the road ALL THE TIME... and MKZ's sell like hot cakes. MKX is NOT the worst seller. MKS has NOTHING in common with Taurus... what the heck have you been drinking??
  3. There ARE DIFFERENCES between Ford and Mercury models...anyone who's driven a Crown Vic and a Grand Marquis knows this. For one thing, Mercury models are usually heavier, with softer rides as is the case with the CV/GM examples. Marketing to women DOES WORK. Sears started marketing it's "Softer Side" and saw a significant increase in sales right after. Other manufacturers who have marketed to women have noted that IT WORKS.
  4. AMEN MY FRIEND. Pelosi is the same idiot that wants to take OUR tax dollars to give money and health insurance to ILLEGALS... umm...HELLO??? they are BREAKING THE LAW by being here... Get a clue you socialist Marxist idiot... God help us if Obama bin Laden wins in November...
  5. That's the ONLY way they can get them to sell...is to undercut their profit margins and sell them at a loss!! Giving them away... HAHA
  6. Igor, I hadn't heard that... will they be smaller, yet still RWD? I can't see the company dumping it's 85% control of the police market! Will the names remain, or be tweaked/changed? Also...what would be the future of St. Thomas' plant? Those guys are awesome, I don't want to see them get idled. Let me know what you find out. Thanks! Dave
  7. There are quite a few 2010 Taurus pics that are still floating around the internet, that haven't been discovered or taken down yet. From what I've seen, the 2010 Taurus has definite European flair, with rectangular style taillights and very sharp-looking lines. I DEFINITELY want one...though I'd be equally happy with a 2008 too. But until then... I'm happy with my 2003 Taurus. Sincere THANKS to everybody at Chicago Assembly Plant for the great job they did building my car...almost 100,000 wonderful miles and counting!! Dave
  8. I wish this person, this true genius...would have printed his name rather than sign it "anonymous." To everyone... everywhere...who builds Fords in every plant across the land: Bless you. Keep up the amazing work. You may not get to autograph every car you build, but you leave your mark nonetheless. I'm still loving my 2001 Continental. 123,000 miles and counting. What an amazing ride. Thank you.
  9. Some of you don't put much faith in psychics, but psychic Sylvia Browne has been immensely accurate in many issues, including elections, weather forecasts, helping to solve crimes, and events involving celebrities. Sylvia has predicted that 2008 will be a GREAT year for Ford, that there are many good things coming, and the company will have a successful year in many areas, financially and otherwise. Our $100 million 1Q profit is just the beginning. Tell the naysayers to pound sand. This is the best car company on earth. Tell a friend. Sincerely, Dave A shareholder.
  10. Toyoder is sending letters out to 95-00 Tacoma owners, asking them to come in for an inspection. If a rubber mallet will pass through the frame rail in any spot, they seize the vehicle, put the customer in a rental, and pay up to 150% of the truck's value to the customer. Some are buying another Toyoder with their money...but most are hightailing it to the competition. Ohhhh.....but if you hear their commercials... their trucks are "changing it all." HAHAHA Watch Rick Titus teach you the Truth About Trucks, Toyota. http://www.thegmsource.com/index.php?categ...2_articleid=915 PS: Nissan and Toyota owners are trading in their cars for the 2008 Malibu. Now I'm NOT a Chevy fan, but I'm proud to see the Big Three are fighting back. BUY AMERICAN!
  11. You don't even KNOW what you're talking about..... From your own statements it's clear you never GO to a Ford lot...so therefore you aren't seeing people there....so then you have no idea what the cars offer.... So go sit in the corner and be quiet. Or else actually VISIT a Ford lot and DRIVE SOME CARS!
  12. I think that 45% is very accurate. The majority of Americans STILL OWN an American vehicle. The majority of homes have a Ford in their driveway. Though statistics and ads from the Jap companies might try to convince us otherwise... most people still buy American, even if other cars in their driveway are foreign. Our population keeps getting older and with more older folks comes more folks buying cars that grew up with Buick Chevy Dodge and Ford. I think a lot of this is media driven...misconceptions and misperceptions that only foreign is better, and that everybody buys Toyoders. Not true. Proud of my Lincoln Conti... every single day I see one on the road. Not bad for a car that ceased production SIX years ago!
  13. The more sidewall you have on a tire, the more flexing the tire can do during cornering and hard maneuvers. THis adds to body roll and sway in side to side motions, and contributes to the fishtailing effect. Going to 17" wheels means there's more steel rim and LESS sidewall...so the car tracks and handles better. That's why the CVPI got the bigger wheels before the civilian models. Making all the cars the same is just good business sense.
  14. I disagree... Toyoder and Honduh DID advertise their way to the top. When you tell someone over and over and over they are stupid...they start to believe it. (cycle of abuse) When you tell people "Quality" a hundred million times... people think it's better. In the beginning Toyoder built junk. But now that they've built themselves up to the top... it's SO much harder TO STAY THERE. Consumer Reports' bashing Toyoder is just a sign that their plan was not so perfectly executed. Once the word gets out... hahaha Ford can take over!
  15. Umm....excuse me??? We are NOT talking about two different companies here. Ford is Ford is Ford. Ford Australia is STILL Ford! What happens around the world (Europe-Australia-Asia) still has to get the go-ahead from DEARBORN. As for you typical Americans who are absolutely impatient and demand everything NOW... Get a grip. They JUST made the decision...now they have to start from scratch with only a frame and go from there. There's market research to be done... designs to consider...paint colors to create... whole nine yards... not to mention crash testing and safety measures. Be patient!!
  16. Just the way I like to see a Toyoder... WRECKED.
  17. Keep in mind...members of CONGRESS are the ones who complain about gas prices...then get back in their SUV's and go back to Congress and propose energy bills to make the gas prices HIGHER.....
  18. This is Awesome. Not long ago I found a 1996 Lincoln Town Car with 600,000 miles... and the interior looked like the car was built Yesterday!!
  19. there's a reason why the rich get tax breaks... it's because THEY EMPLOY THE MASSES. If the rich get breaks...they can DO MORE..like expand plants...offer more jobs...give pay raises.... If the poor man gets a tax break...what can he do? Buy another loaf of bread? Barack Hussein Obama Osama has done *nothing* for this country... this is only his FIRST term in the Senate... why are people rushing to him?? He's MUSLIM... I dont trust him. Enough political talk. Sorry.
  20. Well obviously most of you have never worked as a salesman. IT'S A LOT TO LEARN!! There's a million techniques that all claim to be the "right way" to sell a car and deal with customers. Then there are the EXAMS... Yes...Exams. Every single model that is made has an exam. Ford, Mercury and Lincoln all have exams for every single vehicle....and you've got to pass ALL of it...and remember it!! You've got to know the available gear ratios to an F-650 and whether traction control is optional or standard on a Taurus. Then you have to know about the Sync...the electrochromic mirror on a Town Car...what CD players are available on a Marquis.... the list goes on and on and on. Is it any wonder that a salesman can't remember it all??? I agree though...there are oftentimes too much back-and-forth stuff between sales and the manager. And too many managers who use the "this deal is only good in the next 5 minutes" techniques like it's still the 1970's.
  21. A lot of agencies are ditching the Impalas very quickly. Virginia State Police is getting rid of them and I do not see them purchasing any new Impalas at all. They purchased the Charger in *very* limited numbers (maybe 100 statewide), so Crown Vic is still number 1. Interesting, for years the Caprice was the only car they preferred.
  22. I'm not a Chrysler fan *at all* but I do want to see the company rebound and become successful again. Walter Chrysler and the Dodge brothers are probably spinning in their graves somewhere after seeing all the mess this company has gone through. I think that the Hemi name brought people back to Chrysler that left for Ford and GM a long time ago. Even if they come out with new technology, why not just keep the Hemi name for that brand recognition? Call it the "all new Hemi" and then the company is seen as being innovative? Oh right, we're talking about Chrysler here. Oh well.
  23. Let's get something straight: The new Taurus was a design change that was planned from the get-go, re-naming it was not planned and something Mullaly decided. So the car got a refresh after 3 years. That sounds about RIGHT to me. In other markets, the Five Hundred lives on (go to Saudi Arabia and you'll see TONS of them, and even MORE Crown Vics). The word is the SHO model is back in a couple years. Other changes are coming. So why can't folks STOP complaining about the models not getting updated, and when they DO get updated folks whine yet again. Seems impossible to please some people, I guess. For those who think the Crown Victoria isn't popular, like I said, go check out www.aljazirahford.com (I think I spelled that right). It was just named the largest volume Ford dealer in the world, and the largest selling Crown Victoria dealer in the world. Over 150,000 cars sold in about seven years, I believe. When STAP does get idled, the Taurus should be right on par to fill in and take over the gap. And I'm lovin' it. (Just to clarify: I DON'T want STAP to be idled, I love those guys for building the best damn cars on the road...nor do I want CV's to end...but at least if they do end it, something's planned so there won't be a gap)
  24. VOLVO IS NOT FOR SALE!!! Gees, don't you fools READ??? The article is SPECULATIVE. Even the writers of Autoblog state that they are LEARY of this claim. They also state that NO OTHER ORGANIZATION has stepped up to corroborate this SPECULATION. Volvo IS NOT going anywhere! Get a clue, people.
  25. Absolutely it's a winner. I've met quite a few people who have bought them, and even the Freestyle, and they love the car!
