Union Contract Talks to Begin Soon
weiweishen replied to 97svtgoin05gt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
""It's going to be a very tough set of negotiations," said Joe Ashton, the UAW's chief negotiator for GM. "The vast majority of members want jobs and they want job security. They never want to go through what we went through in '09 when we faced bankruptcy and plant closings."", I think this is what UAW workers really think about. We are totally not out of woods. Actually we have 65% of chance to go back to that dark woods if the double dip is really on the corner. I beleive that UAW workers really understand the economic situation because some of their neighbours or relatives are still out of job. Only those mentally wrong Bob Kim like can think it is the time to rob auto industry again. How shame it is for him that the auto companies in southern states just denied his proposal. He should go back to some decent school to really learn something called knowledge rather than just got law degree from School called Detroit Mercy. -
Ford Motor Company 2011 Second Quarter Results
weiweishen replied to ibinubu12's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
At such turmoil world and national economic situation, Ford just steadily improves its baseline. Great Job all Ford employees. -
I agree with you. Just look at our debts now. The reason why we have so much debts is jus the fact that we have too many foreign company invest in stats but do not pay tax. Ask Toyota about how much tax incentive they got from Alabama and ask State of Alabama how much Federal tax incentive they got from Federal government. Do not forget Alabama do not have State Tax. All I want to say is we American companies pay tax to Federal Government, Federal Goverment use those tax dollar to support the State like Alabama to give tax incentive to company like Toyota, Hyundai. It is not fair. Every year one third of my income has to pay to federal government to support those foreign company who claim that they hire US works and actually they do not pay their tax. Just think one day, when all of US based companies are pushed by those foreign companie out of business and we only have those TAKASHAWA in our land, then there will be no city being able to pay police officials, firefighters, teachers....because there will be no such thing called corporate tax.

Ford Powers Up Hybrid Production
weiweishen replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
The quality of the battery assembled by Ford is really amazing. I wish they can lower the price to 30%, then having a electric car will not be a dream for a regular buyer. -
Alan forgets a big difference between German and American. German are so proud of their own brand. American are never care what American brands are. As long as a merchandise comes with a name like TAKASHAWA, American like it. Don't you see those Toyota owners have a huge bumpsticker "proud to be an American". German are group of people called German who have lived in a place called Germany for thousands years. American are a group of people called "could be anyone". VW, Daimler, Audi are all German Brand. Even Opel are German brand owned by GM. You want to beat them? You have to teach Germany how to be American. That got never happened.

Russian has same population as Japan. But its land is much much bigger than Japanese. Russian has enough petroleum. If FoMoCo perform well, Russian and other eastern European country can be crucial factor of Ford global strategy. BTW, I found there are a lot of east European descendant in Michigan. With their influence, Russian should prefer American car.

Fix It Again Toyoda sales down -24%
weiweishen replied to Ford Jellymoulds's topic in Competing Products
Totally agree. I remember ten years ago, when I shopped for my first car (in Tennessee), a lot people told me that 1) don't buy Korean cars, they are craps, 2) Detroit big three always have problem on the quality of their cars, 3) try to buy Japanese car, especially Toyota. Now today, if I ask people surrounding me, few people will tell me that Korean cars are real craps, a lot of people beleive that big three, especially Ford, have significantly improved the quality of their products, and a lot of people are aware of the quality problem of Toyota. Actually quality gaps between different car companies have been reduced to a extend that few people really concern about their car's quality. -
Just The Facts: June 2011 Small Car Sales
weiweishen replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Many Japanese car owners now buy Korean cars due to the production shortage of Japanese car companies. Question is: will they come back to buy Japanese cars after Japanese car company's production recover to pre-earth quake level? Let's see. I expect to see Japanese companies spend more time and resource to bite Korean company now. -

Best Things About America, F-150 Named

I think "Freedom" is the greatest thing about America. -
This afternoon, on the way from work to home, on I-94 West (near I-275), I saw a C-max. It was really a beautiful car, I followed it for about 5 miles. Suddenly I found that I was followed by a police car with flash light on. I pulled over. The officer told me that my speed was 90 mph. I was so speechless. I told the officer that I was following a C-max, I did not realize that I was speeding because I don't think a hybrid can move that fast. The officer looked at me with a wired smile and said "I don't know what is C-max, but you should drive slowly and have a nice holiday." Bad luck before my vacation.

I bought a life long alignment from Firestone, I do alignment check every 10 thousands miles. Now firestone poeple really feel bored of me. -

Toyata bracing itself for 31% drop in profits
weiweishen replied to Ford Jellymoulds's topic in Competing Products
Exactly. If Toyota import 80% of the parts for their engine from Japan and assemble the engine in the state, they can claim that the engine is domestic. I want to reiterate again that tsunami and earth quake in Japan has already revealed the truth. If 80% of their parts are from domestic companies, they don't need to wait for 3 month, 4 month, and 5 month to find alternative suppliers. They still cannot make enough cars now. The earth quake happened in March 13 2011. More than 3 months have passed. Don't tell me that Ford do not have enough paint. Ford already found the alternative. Edmunds, true car and JD power has already predict that this month Ford, GM and Chrysler will have double digit increase on their sale figure, Japanese company will have double digit lost. Why? No parts. In the past 50 years, Japanese companies never been so mercy to US car companies. Just compare Nissan with Toytoa and Honda. Nissan's sales figure will increase 24% in June while Toyota and Honda's will decrease 14 to 15%. They are all Japanese companies. Why one of them did not affected by tsunami and earthquake while the other two are affected so badly. Can we concluded that Nissan use much more domestic parts than Toyota and Honda do? -
Ford 5th in worldwide sales?
weiweishen replied to Joe771476's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
After the Japanese earthquake, those former Japanese car owners did not come to buy big three's cars or trucks, they turned to Hyuandai and Kia. Personally, I think it is a good things. Why? In the states, there are always 40 to 47% people who will buy big three's car and truck. So 60 to 53% market share are for thos foreign car companies. Janpanese companies took majority share of them, now Korean company become bigger and bigger in the states and Chinese companies will come in the future, maybe Indian company will come also soon, there are still 60% to 47% of market share for all of those foreign car companies. Each Japanese company's profit margin will shrink signifcantly inthe future. So they will try their best to beat Korean's, Chinese, Indians. As a result, they have to increase their price to keep up with their profit or they have to lower the quality to manage their cost.
