Maybe the oil pan isn't just a sump but is a structural member of the powertrain? If so, I get that it's a PITA to effect repair, but without saying why it is this way doesn't tell the whole story.

Ford to sell parts to fix competitor's vehicles...
Mad Hatter replied to tbone's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I live several miles from a town of ~5K population. There was a Ford dealer and a Chevrolet dealer. Come the GM bankruptcy, the Chevy dealer was closed. People took vehicles to the Ford dealer for repairs. Same thing in the county seat of ~6.5K people. There was Ford, Chevy-Olds, Pontiac-GMC and Dodge-Plymouth dealers. Of course, Plymouth, Pontiac and Oldsmobile had been gone for a while. Again, after Chrysler/GM bankruptcies, only the Ford dealer remained. Same thing in the counties north and south of me. That story was pretty common (in south Texas, anyway). Ford was the last man standing. To go to a brand-family shop, you were lucky to be within 25 miles of one. Most were 50~ miles from one (like me). Dodge was the worst, as they traditionally hadn't been popular. So I think Ford dealers gained some customers on repairs and likely will keep some. -
It does, doesn't it? I'd like to see a render with a matte silver mesh grille and windshield frame.

Not counting the separate CF package, does this imply an interior trim choice (or model-dependant), or is this a mix of finishes in a single interior?

Looks good, but I would like to see the front in different trim levels. And that level of engine choice hasn't been available in years. GJ, Ford! -
It's been a while since I read it, but IIRC, the Magnuson-Voss Act meant that a warranty couldn't be voided if aftermarket parts were installed unless it was damage attributed to the modification. So, unless it either reduced oil volume/pressure or a line failed and drained the oil, I would think it'd be fine. You could check with the auxiliary filter manufacturer for specifics.

IDK what "age-appropriate" means, anyway. Most sports cars are drive by older men because they're largely the only ones that can afford them. Take Corvette; that's a retiree's aspiration car and probably come with the requisite "Heartbeat Of America" jacket and Corvette cap, It may not have started that way. It might not be marketed that way. But it is what it is.

Fair enough, as long as it's acknowledged that factual data like place of manufacture, parts source et cetera tells the real truth. I'm not disallowing perception; that's why I wrote how people would turn from Ram pickups if (say) a Chinese company bought the brand. I don't think Ram would be hurt if (say) Mazda acquired it. In fact, some might think that means they'll make a better truck even as some turned to Ford or GM.
-
You've made brand identity and public perception the defining issues which skews the matter in favor of your argument. Not content source. Not place of manufacture. Not corporate ownership. Not even a domestic incorporation of a foreign manufacturer. Let's say FCA sells Ram and Geely is the buyer-and it's not hidden. I'm certain Ram would suffer for the association. A Camry made in Kentucky is more an American vehicle than a FCA Ram made in Mexico.

Me too, Dale. I have no idea why Ford problems weren't mentioned in an article about GM vehicle issues, other than impertinence. Posted by: Dale | Jun 25, 2016 9:40:47 AM Weird, no mention of the rash of issues on the new F-150?? Door alignment, wind noise, tranny issues, etc etc. Proves this site is sponsored by Ford like always!!

24 Hours of Lemans

..doesn't seem Risi gets penalized? And those announcers were def showing their disdain for Ford. They crapped on them for not having GTs for sale despite waivers. They were indignant at the idea of #82 potentially penalized for ignoring a flag, yet failed to acknowledge Ford had to pit for the same. -

Great race! I watched most of it-and Ford did a great job on the YT channel. Lots of comments about other brand streaming either was for pay or glitched. Still waiting to figure out what happens with Risi Ferrari. Straight up, I wouldn't have pitted but accepted any penalty-even if it meant third place. -

Creepy OnStar already made me leery of GM's tech; wonder if there's a back door in their hotspots. I neglected to mention in the Airflow post that GM at that time used steel over wood framing, but I suspect everyone intuited that. Think it was shortly after that GM offered "turret-top" cars with all-steel bodies.
