  1. Because bankruptcy allowed them to bow out of dealership agreements without the huge expense ala Oldsmobile.....
  2. It is a prime example of "live by the sword, die by the sword"...I find it amusing that Hyundai of all companies is complaining of the price war.....they started it.....
  3. While I would agree, and the 12K price point would be a hit...I would be willing to bet that the Mexican Courier does not meet US crash, safety, and emission regulations and it would be too costly to bring it here....there is a lot of competition in those small "camiones"...VW and Chevrolet have versions too. From what I can tell, they are built in Brazil...... Transit Connect as a pick up is the way to go in the US market... I wonder if any of the aftermarket upfitters have tried a cargo area "roof-ectomy" on one yet....
  4. I just went to the site and ordered one.....I spelled my first name differently so I can then track how many pieces of junk mail come to my house with my name spelled that way....
  5. I agree.....while it is not to my taste for a daily driver, I do not see it as ugly as some have jumped on the "its ugly" bandwagon...plus, the chop that 2b2 did for a sedan variant looks outstanding....good job.
  6. The simple fact is, Ford never should have bought Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, or Volvo....this was profit spending on these marques at the expense of the Ford brands because some of the "higher ups" at Ford could not bring themselves to be chauffeured in "just" a Lincoln....profits that should have been poured back into development of FoMoCo products instead of squandered on excesses such as these. I am glad that the new owners are finding success with these respective brands....I don't believe any executive in Dearborn HQ would have hoped otherwise.
  7. T-Stags' orgasm link I hope he bought some stock to go with that enthusiasm....meanwhile, I still believe that Ford did the right thing by getting rid of JLR (and others) Ford does not have to financial resources to give JLR the attention it deserves without taking away from the core Ford and Lincoln brands.
  8. Ford could answer this in several ways... 1.) Build a lighter duty version of F150 without the kick up on doors (ala Expedition) and lower the top rail of the bed to match....instant F100 2.) Build a pick up truck version of the euro spec full size Transit van and label it Ranger...... 3.) Build a pick up truck version of Transit Connect and label it Courier.... All listed ideas would build on Fords' direction of using common chassis development and tighten Fords grip on truck sales in the North American marketplace.
  9. True...but seeing as they seem to build a bullet proof unit....when one Ranger goes down the road, remove and install on the next one... :shades:
  10. Gear Vendors Ford overdrive unit This should help the mileage at 75-80 MPH.....
  11. Now if only Ford would do the same for Panther.....
  12. Bob....I am not a fan of the tagline...but the video is good..... PS; like your quote in your signature But I heard a different version. Definition of an expert: "Ex" is a has-been and a "spurt" is a drip under pressure.....LOL
  13. Thats it???? :hysterical: :hysterical: you are such a tool..... ADD ON: Thank you Richard Jensen....your wisdom is unmatched in matters such as moderation.....
  14. Even mlhm5 realized he should not post on the thread dedicated to his idiocy.....in case you missed it, this thread has nothing to do with Lincoln and everything to do with mocking you.... :shades:
  15. Teah...but we're talking NFL, not NCAA....so it will remain to be seen....
  16. You did great....now answer the phone....Alan Mulally is calling Oh no...she is going to the top at Lincoln. Which of course is the bottom of every place else....
  17. Ford did it (decision to make ABS and side bags optional) purely for cost reasons....Fusion was brand new and since Ford was pretty much in the crapper during that time frame, they needed a "hook" to get people in the door to at least look at it and sit in it. By making those two items optional, they were able to lower the advertised price of the car to compete with Hyundai et al...in 2007, both items became standard equipment. I also remember that when I picked up my car, Ford had just 2 days prior announced the increase in powertrain coverage...and my Fusion got a "free" bump in warranty...not that I ever used it....this car has been without a doubt the most reliable car I have yet to own as I roll past 115K miles on her. Note to Ford: whenever you want to bring my Fusion "home" and do a Ecoboost style teardown to prove reliability, you can come and get my Fusion...as long as you bring me a replacement 2011 Fusion as compensation <hint hint :shades: >
  18. Wait until next year when Ford comes out with the Euro-spec Transit RS!!!!
  19. FordBuyer is mlhm5's Metro Detroit cousin.....and Lincoln cannot survive unless Mulally dumps MyLincoln touch and builds the next Navigator on a resurrected Panther platform.... HA!!! Thats a a "four-fer"....a dig at FordBuyer, mlhm5, MyLincoln Touch, and Panther....I rule!!!!
