  1. And shock of shocks.....no diesels......
  2. All this talk of modernizing the powertrains for E-series, yet not one peep about upgrading the front suspension.....
  3. Nr9....first rule of a moderator is that you have the ability to READ......Mr Lane said to PM him..... :reading:
  4. no...he will replace the holy ghost in the trinity..... "The Father, the Son, and the Holy Bob...."
  5. If Fords intentions is to "split the lineup" with E250, 350, 450, 550 continuing with the current chassis and E150 moving to a Transit style full size offering...then you may just see new E150 and possibly a pickup truck variant (F100...?) going along for the ride to better spread out the cost of the chassis development....
  6. So does this mean that the next gen Chevrolet PPV will likewise be based on an Alpha platform?
  7. And from his point of view at that time, he felt he was correct.... Audi should definitely be one of the bench marks for the direction Lincoln needs to go...
  8. I see that it went to the same dentist as the 3 and 6.....
  9. None of those vehicles fit your stated demand of a six passenger RWD sedan, and FYI....it isn't about a higher selling point....it is a better profit margin that counts.
  10. What if Ford produced a short wheel base version with suicide rear 1/2 doors?
  11. Ford has offerings that are six passenger, even one that can be had in rear drive.....Town Car anyone? Their other six passenger offering can be had in AWD.....Explorer, Flex, MKT.....I mean really, what sedan on the market today is available in rear drive other than a Town Car?
  12. I can understand the concerns.....while the "split bow" grille works on the MKZ....it seems smallish on the MKS and gigantic on the MKT....the MKX is about right too....but for a new re-invigorated Lincoln, a new design should be considered......and if Thunderbird sees the light of day under the Lincoln banner, lets hope it gets its own styling that is as unique as the car and name itself....
  13. Awesome article and some interesting photos too....makes me believe that any future Thunderbird should be flown under the Lincoln banner. And to quell any back-lash...it should be presented as "Thunderbird, by Lincoln." The name is primary in this case, the brand...second.
  14. Oh goody.....a new Versailles hybrid is just what is needed to reinvigorate sales
  15. Maybe as a tribute to the original...it will have solid front and rear axles with leaf spring suspension
  16. This post is right where it belongs, since it is all about the Chrysler LX chassis vehicles....you bemoan the loss of Panther and the delay (intended or otherwise) of a replacement for RWD applications when all the sales charts in the marketplace are pointing downward for large rear wheel driven sedans....but, nooooooooooo.....We want Ford to invest heavily into this segment so that the few remaining stalwarts to a dying sedan chassis layout can buy one......used of course since most everyone that is a fan of large rear wheel driven sedans that post their opinion here usually wait until they can buy one used to save $$$.
  17. Isn't the Grand Cherokee (and by default, the Dodge Durango) built off a previous design Mercedes chassis?
  18. Matt?? Is that you?? I see mom let you out of the basement again....
  19. ...and since this inane post is about a Chrysler product....can a moderator please move it to it's rightful place?
  20. I will only agree to one part of this post....I was never crazy about the name....but I am glad they didn't name it Galaxie or some other "re-newed" old name.
  21. The intent of the award is to recognize a "leap" in the evolution of the genre a particular vehicle segment. Silverado HD: Good upgrade, but essentially serves the same market and covers no new ground Jeep Grand Cherokee: ditto Dodge Durango: see above Ford Explorer: Ford threw out the book on what Explorer was and re-wrote it to bring Explorer in line with where the marketplace is heading, all while paying heed to her existing base of customers. A huge risk for Ford to take, but to re-hash Explorer any other way would have regulated it to "also ran" status. As an aside: Chevrolet Volt deserves the NA Car of the Year award due to it's likewise re-writing of what is to be expected of EV's....right, wrong or otherwise...it is also a game changer in the market and eveyrone is watching it
