  1. From the way it is reported, I would think not....it cracks me up that he scoffs at Fusion hybrids 41MPG, yet the Camry hybrid gets a "respectable 33MPG"...wonder what he thinks of Fusions' 23/34MPG for the 2.5L / six speed combo....
  2. Just a thought here, but the F100 could be F150 sized, but with a lighter duty frame, coil spring rear suspension, and an AWD setup as opposed to a 4WD two speed transfer case....Ford could really send the likes of Dodge, Chevy and most notably Toyota crying for market share with a setup like that. It would not cannibalize F150 sales, and give Ford yet another market outlet for such things....
  3. I am going to ring in on Armada Masters' side on this one (god help me....) In the early 90's, I had a 1981 F100, it had stamped steel twin I beams, a smaller diameter bolt pattern on the wheels and a lot less content compared to a F150, it was however a full size truck. It was phased out when Ranger hit the scene. It was included in F-Series brochures and was surely counted in annual F-Series sales.
  4. I've stated this before in another thread that was basically the same topic, but have any of you seen the Dodge "Ram Challenge"....the new Ram takes on.....other Rams.....don't really get that test....
  5. Hey...got any pics of the removed front suspension pieces?? I need to show "someone" what a Twin I Beam suspension looks like on the 2009 E-150.
  6. Thought the ad was funny.....but, thinking about it....how did the guy get up into the bed in the first place.....classic example of leaving out some info....the people that get the "man step" usually deploy it while entering the bed, so it isn't so clumsy looking to deploy it while you are in the bed of the truck already....and my prediction is that the "man step" will quietly appear in competing brands as more people buy it.....except Toyota, unless they redesign the tailgate first to keep it from collapsing
  7. My question of this lineup is simple....if Ford is comparing fuel economy as being comparable to the Triton 5.4L, does this mean that Ford will have a 4.0L - 4.5L version of this motor to give better economy numbers when compared to the 4.6L modular?
  8. The 4.6L Modular V8 fit in the last Lincoln Continental engine bay...sideways.....
  9. An interesting story that includes one department retro fitting Crown Victoria with an electric motor and batteries...hmmmm http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090121/ap_on_...own_police_cars
  10. With the decree of "One Ford"...it makes sense to bring the design language of two similar chassis (CD3 and EUCD) and merge them into CD4. Take the superior aspects of both designs and bring them forward into a new evolution of a common chassis.
  11. ...whoever thought that P71 could be banished......he lives on!!!!!
  12. <in my best Princess Leah voice> "Help us Obi Wan P71....you're our only hope!"
  13. I don't believe that anyone here thinks that Transit Connect is slated to replace Econoline....but a commonly developed replacement for Euro full size Transit and Econoline, sharing chassis, body panels, and suspension pieces is a distinct reality due to Fords' insistence of common chassis development.
  14. Anything smaller should be a Mercury....ala the Mariner
  15. What a shocker....still Twin I Beams after all these years......things that make you go "hmmmmm". Must be all that pablum
  16. And the local tire dealers love 'em too.....eats tires like a lab puppy gulping down dog treats....
  17. I guess one could conclude that people from Michigan may be considered biased due to the influence of the Detroit 3 being a major presence there, but The Genesis did receive the North American Car of the Year at the Detroit show......so....
  18. RMC...work your magic, I think you could start with the waterfall grille and emblems, that is a good start. I would like to see a revamp of the roof line/rear quarter window treatment to something along the lines of 83-86 Cougar, but whatever you got time for.....and take your time bud......we're good.
  19. That line of thinking is what damned the Taurus to rental fleet queen....with Alan Mulally in charge, hopefully...that line of thinking has gone the way of the flathead V8 and Torque Tube drive shaft. You could easily replace the word "Vauxhall" with Mercury in the US market...I hope the "new plan" for Mercury is coming soon....
  20. you have got to be joking......I will state this once more wiz....Econoline has Twin I Beam suspension, has had it for decades, and will continue to have it until Ford re-designs the front end...the fact that there are upper and lower ball joints in the place of the old style king pin is meaningless, it is still two long I beams attached at opposing sides of the vehicle held in place by radius arms. This suspension has been in use by Ford since its mid sixties introduction. If you are telling me that your Econoline has a "short/long arm" setup, then it is the only one....snap a picture of it so we can see it.
