  1. Do you think this will be the last manual that Ford puts in it's vehicles? I am starting to think this could be the last.
  2. So you're saying that Tesla knows what the majority of pickup truck buyers want? Got it! What part of, it will be a niche player do you not understand? I don't think Ford, Ram, or GM (maybe GM) has a problem retaining customers as they tend to listen to their customers, not give them breakable/unbreakable glass. But it's a Tesla and it's fast! That won't cut it either. Neither will having your power degrade over hard use (see Porsche showing how to truly build a consistent track able fast electric car).
  3. The model Y will make the model 3 obsolete. Cannibalizing their own sales. The only folks that will buy the model 3 are the folks that can't afford the Y. I remember, say in 2007, when Toyota could do no wrong. They and their zealots, auto mags, and media told anyone who would listen that they are going to take over the truck market now with the Tundra. It was the truck that was going to change everything and finally crack the full size truck market. What happened? Toyota gave it a good first (2nd or 3rd) crack....on paper at least. Within a 3 years, it was woefully outdated and outclassed. Toyota couldn't make the business case to keep upgrading their pick ups in the full size arms race. They only people that buy Tundra's now are the Toyota faithful or value hunters. I see this happening to the Tesla pickup too. A niche player at best. Let's see all this Tesla growth in 2020. Tesla has ADHD. The come out with a product and let it die on the vine. How are those model S sales or better yet the Model D? Product is still the same as intro, only the software changes. Each new product become the next big thing. Tesla is the equivalent of Apple in the automotive world, except they aren't profitable but they do seem to be trendy is certain groups.
  4. I mean the government has subsidized millionaires getting their Tesla's so far, I wonder why states are doing this.
  5. most corporate culture sucks....I mean you have the silicon valley culture but even then.....you are rarely off and unreachable. The exception is when you get into upper management and pretty much can do anything you want and are above reproach.
  6. Yep! Even more so if it’s trendy. How many BMW and Tesla sales happened before even a test drive or actually seeing it in person. A lot due to the badge.
  7. First, welcome to the forums. This place can be a very good source of information on past, current and future Ford products. You might even get some well timed humor here. Second, there are a certain few who I won't name (I can think 3 off the top of my head) who always always always post negativity. Not sure why but they do. I think you can ignore them so where you don't see their posts but I've never tried it. Again, welcome and enjoy. No flame suit needed.
  8. A few questions. Is build quality still an issue right now with the Explorer? Is it poorly built and engineered? If not, the debacle that was called a launch is still being well publicized and used for a cause for concern. Are consumers really getting bent out of shape about interior materials on the XLT or is this the press going overboard, wanting a Telluride interior? I want to understand if this is a real or perceived issue. Now, it's been 6 months. Heads have rolled. If they are still producing crap in Chicago, just fire everyone. It sounds harsh, sure. It just sounds like Chicago has larger systemic issues that Ford doesn't seem to be seeing at other plants. I would love to see a root cause analysis. I would imagine it would be filled with one bad choice compounded by another.
  9. I don't need to open accounts. Since trading isn't my primary occupation (FinTech is) I don't trade on margin. However, in this instance of insanity is making me think shorting is a good idea. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. This is becoming like Bitcoin. There is a wave of investors who just keep dumping money into it. Disregarding all logic, it has become an emotional decision. Those fall back to earth eventually.
  10. There is part of me that really wants to short Tesla stock.
  11. No disrespect to the Sport Trac, but technological progress is a good thing. I actually liked the Sport Trac and had a buddy that had one. Now in regards to that video, just watching it made me want to buy one. Bronco looks to have legit off road and high speed chops.
  12. Was really surprised this engine wasn't in the Escalade.
  13. Message from the top: If you fail in spectacular fashion for something you are in charge of, you are accountable. That accountability comes in a we are pushing you out with a nice severance package and retirement benefits. So he won't be hurting financially. This is the pound of flesh that people were looking for in the Explorer debacle. Can someone verify that Chicago also got a new plant manager recently?
  14. The UP is great. I love it. Big fan of Copper Harbor and Houghton area. Don't forget the pasties!
  15. Well, I mean the thread is about the Escalade so there is that. I get it though, Denali fills that upper middle ground really well.
  16. Honestly, it will sell no matter if it's crap or not at this point. When Lincoln stopped trying with the Navigator for about 20 years, GM was building brand equity in the Escalade. It will take years of hard work for Lincoln to over come that. Not that they can't but it won't be overnight. This is what we call squandering what you had.
  17. Hmm...that event is just west of where I work. Any one got an invite?
  18. I think this on the short list to replace my Fusion in a few years.
  19. But but but ....that’s not what was said on their Q4 earnings call!
  20. Their stock price is all emotional now. This reminds me of the Bitcoin craze a few years back. No logic can explain it, yet the price would go up. Every Joe Blow wanted to get in on the action. Then the bottom fell out. When you can't explain it and a company loses year over year, it all based on emotion. This will come back to earth eventually, if Tesla can't consistently make money. Doesn't matter how many cars they sell or flame throwers or tax credits. That is guaranteed.
  21. Tesla had a great year sales wise and they lost just under a billion. Just think about that for a minute. Makes zero sense but hey they are Tesla. They don't play by the same rules as other companies.
  22. Nothing is shocking to me anymore. Style is subjective. I am sure the reason the person is doing it because they think it will look good. However, there is a large amount of the population that has bad taste.
  23. That's good news! Thanks. I will probably wait a little bit closer to the end of my powertrain warranty and purchase one.
