Nice guy. I met him in Vegas during the Mustang's 50th birthday celebrations. I do wonder if he ever got to "pen" anything though. The S550 was designed by Kemal Curic, although I guess Moray would have had input and final say.

I like Jimmy Dinsmore and it was good of him to use his contacts within Ford to put some context around the Auto Forecast Solutions report. Thing is, AFS seem to be a reputable industry source so either they know something we don't (ie S650/'23MY has been cancelled) or something was lost in translation (which I suspect is what's happened). I will be VERY surprised if S650/23MY has been cancelled as, timing wise, we should be very close to seeing prototypes on the road within the next 3 months.......assuming a spring reveal of the '23MY car with it starting production Sept/Oct 2022.

Can't say as I'm surprised, there's been quite a lot of this lately. I do wonder though, is this such a bad thing? It gets people excited about future product and gets them plenty of internet exposure. I thought any press is good press Now, can someone leak something about the S650 Mustang please

Soul. Something the V8 gives the Mustang. I don't listen to the stereo in mine, the V8 produces all the music I need. No amount of pumped in fake sound will ever be able to replace that. I know an EV Mustang will be faster and cheaper to run, but many people buy Mustangs with their hearts, not their heads. I'm not against an EV Mustang (well, at least one that keeps it pony car roots.......2+2, long hood, short deck, fastback or convertible)........but given the choice of a V8 or an EV, I'll take the V8 every time. When the V8 is no longer available, I'll embrace the EV version

Yes, S650 is expected to be a heavy revision of S550 but I bet Ford claim it'll be all new and call it the 7th Gen when it launches in 2022. Thing is, I'd expect Auto Forecast Solutions (thank you for the clarification, Autoline are, indeed, just reporting their news) to be aware of this, so it would have been clearer if they'd said the EV was coming for the 8th gen.

Sorry, I didn't see this thread when I posted mine. However, I don't know why Autoline keep referring to 2028 as the next gen Mustang when S650 is coming in 2022 as a '23MY!!! I'd like to think there will still be a V8 option for the 8th gen (2028 or whenever)........but I guess the V8 has to die at some point

I know there are many reasons for Trademarking names (mostly just so no-one else takes it!)............but if we are getting a new T-bird, it'd better not be another EV SUV!!!! The recent sculpture revealed in China had many believing that was a thinly veiled view of the next gen Mustang (personally, I really hope it is, because I think it's stunning!!) That being said, that sculpture had definitely has inspiration from the early T-bird.

Ford Authority stating its a '23MY vehicle............if their timescales are accurate, isn't it rather early to see a prototype? Given how advanced this prototype looks, surely a late 2021 on sale date as a '22MY would be more accurate? "Expect the next-gen Ford Ranger to go on sale in Australia in late 2022 or early 2023, with a global release toward the end of the 2022 calendar year for the 2023 model year"

I guess the fact they have been using a cut up Focus estate/wagon for the early mules led most to assume it would be an estate/wagon once it reached production [/img]

Back on topic.............I'd imagine most cop cars don't have the engine idling simply so that can take off at a moments notice, it'll be because the cops are using radios/computers in the car, whilst also being cooled by the aircon or warmed by the heater. I wonder what impact that would have on an EV's charge.

Whilst we obviously can't see the details with this camo.................one thing I will say, the Mondeo/Fusion (we also got the Mondeo estate) was a superb looking car, relatively low and sleek in a world where every other car is a bland, high-waisted SUV. This looks to be just another blob which. Its getting to the point that without seeing the name badge, its difficult to tell these things apart

The '03/'04 was the ONLY Mach 1 with a standard shaker. It was either only optional, or not available on all other model years. Besides, with this Mach 1 going global, there's no way it would have passed the pedestrian impact laws (EU Mustangs have an "active" hood that deploys upwards with the use of small explosives in the event of a pedestrian impact). Besides, in trying to make it functional, it would likely have reduced performance, not increased it.

Are those really 19" front brakes?

I still find it hard to believe that Ford will put the 6.8 in a "regular" Mustang......i.e S650 when it comes out. In a world where automotive manufacturers are downsizing engines and moving to hybrids or EVs, will Ford really put an old pushrod V8 in the Mustang we know and love? In fact, if it's an iron block pushrod V8, I honestly can't see the advantage over the Coyote. OK, it'll have better torque, but power levels will be similar, and I'd imagine fuel economy and emissions will be nowhere near as good as the Coyote. Not mention the mess it'll make of the handling with a big heavy engine up front. I can see them putting this is something truck based (perhaps even using the Mustang name......as the rumors state there will be a "family" of Mustangs)......but I just have a hard time seeing this in S650. And, yes, I'm aware Dias stated the 6.8 will be "used in derivatives of Mustang and F150"......but.......

I was convinced we were getting a light refresh for the '21MY Mustang but, having seen pre-production '21MYs posted on the internet, it appears those spy shots were all of the Mach 1. So, the '21 and '22 will be the same as the '18-'20. With S650 just two years away from production (assuming the leaked info showing it as a '23MY are still accurate), I guess that's not so bad. I think, seeing those spy shots and the fact that the '13/'14 received a pretty significant face and butt lift made me, and others, assume the S550 would follow suit.
