They probably gave Mike a lot of creative control in these.
igor
They probably gave Mike a lot of creative control in these. Mulally has been headhunting for a global marketing czar, whose job will be to govern all global Ford marketing, and align them into a semi-coherent brand image globally. Various EU ad agencies have been eying the possibility that the new global marketing campaign will fall into their laps. JWT is no different .. they see the fire under their asses - so they try harder .. and it actually shows :D Igor
Pablo2079
I like to live on the edgeahhhhh..... Now, let's do something about the Edge commercials.
suv_guy_19
In Canada kiefer sutherland (24) has been doing the truck commercials for a long time, they have always had that kind of info.
LincolnFan
I like how in the second commercial they didn't actually drive.
Captainp4
good commercial, informative and about the product. Not anything new for the truck division though, do they share the same marketing department as the cars? Because Ford has been doing the truck advertising right for years. BORG
Curiously, they are using the frumpy looking F-150 for these ads.
RichardJensen
Curiously, they are using the frumpy looking F-150 for these ads. That's because there are no other trucks in the SD's class :D
Mark B. Morrow
Frumpy? I think Borg is referencing the "work truck" versions with the plastic grille, blackout trim and steel wheels. Most ads use the more upscale models. Then again that is probably the point of using Mike. Fords are real tough working trucks.
Captainp4
And thats the only model that can tow/haul what they claim, no?
Mark B. Morrow
And thats the only model that can tow/haul what they claim, no? I wouldn't think so. What difference would the trim level make to towing/hauling capacity? It is more likely that the crew cab and short bed might change the load and towing weight. HoustonPerson
Honestly, these F150 ads are a major disservice to Ford. They are not truthful in real world situations. If customers purchase the truck on the premise they are going to tow a 11,000 lb travel trailer on a vacation, they will be greatly disappointed. Those of us that have used the F150 towing considerably smaller loads “know better”. A lot better! And commercials of that nature only further damage Fords reputation. The “truck” in the commercial is “not” main stream; with the special work truck high ratio rear end. It is not the FX4 or Lariat CrewCab loaded up with the “one” standard read end available, which only has a tow rating of 8,200lbs (the main stream trucks). Worse yet; even that tow rating does not take into account the payload rating of 1,500lbs (which must be subtracted from the 8,200lbs). Probably the greatest insult to the customer is implying that you will be able to tow at hi-way speeds. With the current engine/transmission, you can not. The fantasy ads of the “Edge” are a lot better, by a wide margin. But purporting something to be true in a commercial when it is not only hurts Ford further. SVT_MAN
Maybe someone needs to remind HoustonPerson about the concept of Marketing. We should show him the Toyota Tundra commercial and see who is really stretching the truth.
