I know, who would've thought you would go as far as implying the Kia Spectra and the Focus were both interchangeable as "quality products"?

Find a single quote where ****I**** accuse a current Korean product of having poor quality.

Rather, the Koreans serve as instructive examples of how attention to the -processes- of quality can produce rapid results.

If this were 1996, there would be a definite insult in comparing an Escort (yes even an Escort) with a Hyundai whatzit.

It's not 1996, though. It's 2007. At least for another 6 weeks or so. And the Koreans are making some very high quality (if somewhat blandly styled) vehicles.

YOU, OTOH, are the one who continually dredges up the Korean brands as cautionary examples.

Perhaps, if you accuse us of .....

Ah, the heck with it...

Zeee PC, heee does not like being owned. But what can one do? Hee eees owned, and owned hee weel always be. Perhaps not always by you Reesharr', but hee eees owned.

Richard just give up already. lol_2.gif

Giving me some desperate lecture on context ONCE AGAIN will only backfire on you.

All this started because you missed ON PURPOSE the context of P71's post.

He wasn't talking about build quality, but overall quality, as in design, craftmanship, refinement, effort, etc.

As in something like this:

<P71>

"The Bravia and Aquos are quality HDTV sets, they're remarkable and I wish others were as good"

<RichardJensen>

"NO YOU IDIOT THOSE NO NAME TV'S AT WALMART ARE BETTER CUZ JDP IQS SAID THEY WERE ASSEMBLED WELL, FUCK CONTEXT I PWNED YUUU LOLOLOL!!1111!!1!!"

So you're admitting that you are biased against Koreans?

Well, I don't know if I want someone like that working for me. So you'd better have that litter box empty and the dishes done by the time I get home for lunch tomorrow, or I'm going to have your opinions on Koreans tattooed to you in Korean, and then I'm going to mail you there.

No I'm not biased against Koreans

Uh huh.

What's this, then?

Nah, it's a wiser strategy to become Kia's main competitor.
Who would've thought Kia and Hyundai were "the cream of the crop"

No. You're not biased against the Koreans. Just all the products they build.

overall quality, as in design, craftmanship, refinement, effort, etc.

You mean like this?

The Initial Quality Study, which serves as the industry benchmark for new-vehicle quality measured at 90 days of ownership, has been completely redesigned for 2006 to capture problems experienced by owners in two distinct categories—quality of design and quality of production (defects and malfunctions).

BTW, how you can draw a distinction between 'craftsmanship' and 'build quality' escapes me.

You mean like this?

“In the eyes of consumers, design flaws can have as much of an impact on their perceptions of quality as can a defect. Yet, many manufacturers have tended to address quality solely on the plant floor without considering design factors.”

That sounds like ergonomics to me.

First Mini came out BEFORE JD Power revamped their IQS.

Oh, and if you want to talk about assorted intangibles, there's a raft of APEAL awards for such Ford products as

Ergonomics once again.

Yeah. JD Power has TWO studies to measure the SAME thing.

APEAL is designed to complement the J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality StudySM (IQS), which focuses on problems experienced by owners during the first 90 days of ownership. APEAL measures how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive. While the redesigned Initial Quality Study included a new measurement for design quality, the APEAL Study finds almost no relationship between a model’s overall APEAL score and its IQS design score.

“There are basically two schools of thought among consumers in determining which new-vehicle model to buy,” said Parker. “Many consumers are looking for a painless, trouble-free ownership experience, which, as we find in IQS, is certainly important. However, there is a large group of buyers who are most interested in things like comfort, style and performance. This group is often willing to put up with a few quality snags to get a vehicle they truly feel passionate about. For this group of consumers, there is more to an appealing vehicle than a lack of problems—even a lack of design problems.”

"there is a large group of buyers who are most interested in things like comfort, style and performance."

"Ford fusion handles well, looks purposeful and delivers good value for the money."

Sorry Richard, it won because of its ergonomics and its cheap price, not because of some obsession with design and execution.

Yes, the exterior has absolutely no design style. Quit trying to prove things with that stupid picture.
