Ford Jellymoulds
I will reserve judgement until Ford release technical specification. http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpr...ford_focus.html " Ford of Europe will not reveal any of the technical details of the new Focus RS until closer to launch in 2009. The company plans to show a concept version of the car publicly for the first time in mid-2008. "We will use the redesigned 2008 Focus ST as the base" Which sounds like its going to be FWD shit which is nothing even close to an RS. 1960s Mini Cooper was the last FWD WRC World Champion and there has not been one since. http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews/0306_oldmini/index.html Edited December 17, 2007 by Ford Jellymoulds

Blueblood
Volvo I6 - turboAWD Igor That's the powertrain we're all hoping for, would be nice to see Ford finally kick the asses of the Sti' and the Evo's. And if they think this car wouldn't sell in the US they are crazy, it seems like half the 16-25 year olds around here have 30k+ Sti's and Evo's.. Oh yeah, since your average 16-25 year old can afford a $30,000 car. Hell, most average 50-60 years old can't afford a $30K car. NickF1011
Whats the sense of chasing a market that is lucky to sell 5-7K units a year... It's a risky niche for sure. If it works, it would be great for image, but it is a risk -- one Ford NA doesn't need to be taking right now.

Well Ford did that a couple years ago in the form of the SVT Focus and fell flat on its face. But in all seriousness, high performance cars like that never sell much more then 10K units a year if that. Its just like people comparing the Mustang to the EVO, STI or insert Japanese small Turbo performance car....those cars are based on boring subcompacts/compact cars, where as the Mustang is its own platform. Pity the Mazda 2.3 DI Turbo was rejected for "insufficient reliability" for North America. 250 HP Would have made the Focus SVT an affordable pocket rocket. Its the same deal with the GT500 and Evo: GT500: 5-7K out of 130-160K Mustangs Evo: 3-5K out of ???K Lancers I'm sure that the GT500 makes a hell of alot more more money then the Evo or STi do... Ford Jellymoulds
I can remember a watching a couple of Fiesta ShiT driven by F1’s Tony Jardine & James Everard in the 2006 Kall Kwit Forest Rally its was made to look second rate rubbish by some very old 1970’s RWD Escorts, Fords ST is what it says on the label ShiT. http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/Results/rac_06/3/current.html The main rally was totally dominated by Fords, the first 13 places in the rally were all Fords, most of the second rate Porsche 911’s & Saabs just retired in one of the toughest rallies in the UK. http://www.tynecomp.co.uk/Results/rac_06/1/current.html Edited December 18, 2007 by Ford Jellymoulds
Edstock
Were those restrictor-plate cars? The WRC Focus and its competition are restricted to around 320hp, IIRC. Earlier rally cars didn't have such limitations, so could be faster than today's rally cars.

Earlier rally cars didn't have such limitations, so could be faster than today's rally cars. A Focus WRC 4WD would have blown everything away in that rally Ed, the two ST's were FWD drive only that was their downfall. I just hope the Focus RS is not going to be just FWD because if it is it will be ShiT, as the real life version in not. Have a happy Xmas Ed
Edstock
Great video!!! Good guitar solo, too. IIRC, the RS will be AWD. AutoExpress had a release on it about a month ago, and it said 300+hp and AWD, which makes sense, if they want something to compete with the Mitsu EVO and the Subie STI. At that power level FWD can't cut it. Edited December 18, 2007 by Edstock
