Human activity can and has altered it. Without a dust filter, it's amazing what dust can do to machinery, or farmland, as the Okies found out 75 years ago.

 

As an aside, it is interesting to see how the plantlife in Florida has changed in almost 500 years of European contact. Native plant species have been wiped out, yet to a casula oberver, it seems nothing has changed.

From our perspective, a few plants or new animals looks like big change. From a global perspective, where mountain ranges are like small lumps, and the main feature of the planet is the oceans, these "changes" don't amount to a hill of beans.

Hear the announcement today that the new farmers almanac is out? Causing quite the commotion because in it they say "the current cooling of the earth will continue for the next 50 years.

 

They say it's from the sunspots or flare ups or whatever..oh yeah, the FA is right around 85-95% accurate and is the oldest periodical in north america dating back to 17something (1781? I thought I heard)

Do you know what is MOST upsetting to me? That people proclaim that we must be uneducated dolts because we see this as political, and THEY are EDUCATED at university and above us LOW BROW people, so of course, they understand all the ramifications of this GLOBAL WARMING.

When I was a whipper-snapper, my mother sent me to a Catholic school. In virtually every grade, I was instructed by a nun. In the 7th grade, I was taught by a nun who attended college.......was still going to college, and was well over 50. She had a masters degree in 3 different areas, (which I honestly can't remember) and was brilliant!!!!! (best chess player I have personally ever seen. My brother took 3rd place in the Navy when in there, and she dispatched of him in 40 minutes)

 

Do you know what this learned, intelligent, educated, woman told us? That if we did not attend Church every Sunday, along with going to confession at least once a month, our souls would rot in hell, and God himself would make sure our lives on this earth would be less than what they other wise should be.

 

She was obviously more educated than HOLLYWEIRD, should I have listened? She was positive that Catholisism was the correct religion, does that mean everything else is wrong?

My father got me off religion when I was young, before it really got hold of me. Maybe that is why I can see when other people get sucked in. The key word is "believe". It should be "prove". If something is really wrong, people will see it. They do not need to be preached to. Religion tries to link itself to morality. Morality is just common sense. It has nothing to do with religion. Environmental religion uses the same tactics. If you do not go along with what they are saying, you are immoral, and do not care about our planet. Why wouldn't someone care about the planet? Only thing that matters will be Peak Oil in the future, Airlines are the first to feel it bite, Peak Oil will also look after global warming on its roller coaster ride downwards as global oil consumption skyrockets its all going to end in tears you can see it coming only the strong and most fuel efficeint car/aircraft makers & airlines will survive.

What you are talking about is something negligable, and blowing it up out of proportion. This "greenhouse" you are talking about would not even grow one tomato, let alone cause a global climate shift. It would take something of a much greater magnitude, like a change in the sun's activity to do that. What Liberals propose would do about as much to affect climate change as a dog pissing on a forest fire. All it would do is weaken us, thereby strengthening our enemies. the biggest problem with the people against any talk of the environment is they forget that pollution control is still important.

 

i don't know if there is global warming or not. what i do know:

 

when left unchecked, pollution in cities gets bad enough to kill. see mexico city. see los angeles, even after all the "enviros" as you call them have tried to reduce it.

 

so you hate the idea of global warming so much, great. i don't blame you for not wanting to pay for something that may just be a blip in our global temps and weather patterns. but don't take that hatred and apply it to any pollution control at all. we really do have to take stock in what we spew into the air and what we dump into out rivers, lakes, streams and oceans. i know plenty of people who still piss and moan about catalytic converters and the cost of scrubbers for coal fired plants, recycling is a joke, etc. those are the same people who pour their dirty motor oil into a hole in their back yards and drain their antifreeze while parked in the street and let it go down the sewer.

 

we should keep a concerned eye toward the climate issues. it's important to know if we, in fact, cause it. if we don't, GREAT! but moving backward toward a complete disregard for the environment is totally unacceptable.

but if we all take a minute and have a look past the range of our remote control we might find something might be starting to go askew.

I am all for you guys worrying if it makes you happy, but until something bad happens, QUIT TRYING TO LEGISLATE a way to force the rest of us to have to. We have worries of our own. Man does not have the capacity to polute the planet to such an extent as to damage it even if they deliberately set out to do so. We would die off before the planet. CO2 is not pollution. There is a half-baked idea that too much man-made CO2 will create a "greenhouse effect" and warm up the earth. This can't happen because we are not capable of producing that much CO2. Why are they trying to alarm us? Could it be a socialist attempt at more control? Let's see. Are socialists in agreement with this? Does their proposed solution involve more regulation and taxation? As Sherlock would say; "Elementary, my dear Watson."
