rmc523
Just messing around... Other than the fact that the grille doesn't quite go with the headlights/front end, I like it quite a bit. With a slightly reshaped grille, it'd be perfect.
Mark B. Morrow
I like your revised Mercury emblem.

NickF1011
Just a hunch here, but for some reason, I think the traditional waterfall Mercury grille as we know it has seen the end of its days. It may stick around in some way or another, but I'm guessing it's going to look radically different going forward. It just doesn't seem like the overall shape and style will adapt too well to the vehicles we know are coming. While this example doesn't look bad, I think something a bit more "kinetic", for lack of a better word, would fit better. Something with more sharp angles or curves would probably fit the overall future design direction better.
BlackManta
A further refinement.
rmc523
A further refinement. That's good looking as well, but I like the other chop's headlights better, but on this one, the grille looks better.
saintlaz1
Just messing around... can you post an image of the new emblem you created? looks good, is it from the Marauder?
timmm55
I played around with the waterfall motif a bit..........
NickF1011
I played around with the waterfall motif a bit.......... Maybe I just don't like the waterfall grille anymore. Something about the fixed vertical lines doesn't seem to work with the more complex shapes Ford is using in more recent designs.
2b2
^ imho the vertical slats are fine (actually near perfect ) but the grille opening is too square yet an angular/sharp shape is more for Lincoln so it has to be rounded a bit... ie "the Mercury Smile" update: :D Edited August 15, 2008 by 2b2

Or maybe build in some sort of curve into the slats from top to bottom instead of side to side, if that makes sense. Something that makes it look like more than a polished sewer grate. NickF1011
Maybe your just not a Mercury fan? Not really a fan of current Mercury design. I've loved several from the past.
timmm55
Not really a fan of current Mercury design. I've loved several from the past. The waterfall design is and has been a motif for 30 years now! (67 Cougar)
NickF1011
The waterfall design is and has been a motif for 30 years now! (67 Cougar) And in other iterations it has been fine. I just don't like the current grille with its thicker, wider-spaced, ultra-perpendicular look. Harken back to the Messenger concept for an effective modern application of the motif: The waterfall is still there in the headlights, it's just completely different. Yes, I've always liked the Messenger, but it's a sports car...and some people like grills for sedans/suvs etc.

I'm just not very fond of Mercury's current iteration of one.
