Do we know the plans for Mercury specifically?

Couple things I think Mercury should become. Not all of these are new, but it is a good amalgamation of lots of ideas, I think (names included):

*Introduce the Focus Cabrio here as the Mercury Capri.

*Create a more premium C-car for Mercury and use the Milan name.

*Change the CD-segment vehicle's name to Sable

*Bring the C-Max as the Mercury Mode or Meta or some "stylish" name like that. I think someone above mentioned the name.

*I think they should also introduce a CD-coupe and call it the Cougar. Give it AWD and an EB engine optional.

*I think it would be great for Mercury to get a version of the B-Max - not sure what to call it, although the Messenger name might be just right for a micro MPV.

Are they keeping the Mariner around past when the Escape moves to the C2 platform?

Here's a name you've all forgotten to even mention!!!

It satisfies the cat angle, and is a name that is easy to resurrect:

LYNX

Last used and produced in the early 1980's, as Mercury's version of the Escort (a small car).

Seems like a good fit, yes?

Hmmm! I remember them.

Why not, Bobcat, then?

Why not Mercury Tracer? It was a solid little car based on the Mazda GLC or 323 if I remember correctly.

I think most people will associate that name now with a Bobcat compact loader these days...

Comet

Park Lane

M1

Medallian

Magellan

Mercury is also the sign of the cat.

Cougar

Panther

Sphinx

Lion

how about for Lion use MountainLion for an off-roader?

and, note: Medallion also contains 'lion' ;) or did you intend the different spelling?

&

I *really like* Sphinx!

but

LYNX...

would having Sphinx & Lynx be too much rhyming?

or a good thing?

Caliente (that's hot :happy feet: )

I've wondered about Marauder being used as a powerful trim-level on the larger Mercs (assuming there are some someday)

Caliente feels like the perfect counterpart for small Mercs

just imho...

and re-stating/phrasing;

since/if Mercury goes smaller (temporarily)

could a GrandMilan, Milan, and Milanetto (small-Milan in Italian so I'm told)

be a unifying marketing stratagem for sedans?

Milan is a weak enough name by itself. Please don't suggest we spread it across MORE of the lineup. I'd have rather seen the Milan name die instead of Monterrey or Montego.

Milan is an Italian city. So in that vein, you could use Messina, Modeno sounds like a Ferarri, and Monza, well, let's just not go there! I like Prato if your going Itallian. It sounds like a small car.

For "M" names, you could revive Meteor.

If the Cougar re-emerges, I believe they should go full-bore with the "sign of the cat". You could have:

Bobcat- subcom

Lynx- compact

Puma- replacing Milan-midsize

Cougar- Mustang-sized sport coupe.

This would include dropping the waterfall for the old Cougar logo
