FordBuyer
The new SES Coupe is in. Bill Brown has about five SES Coupe's and another five SE Coupes on lot. The SES Coupe is especially nice as it comes standard with 17 inch premium wheels and roof mounted spoiler. I like the new lower fascia that is curved like Fiesta instead of angular like Sedan and lots more eggcrate/mesh than Sedan. I've always been fan of Ford's eggcrate/mesth grille and love my Taurus SES color coded mesh grille snout. The SES Coupe with automatic lists for $19,090. Not bad. I figure you could delete the automatic, go with more gears 5 speed manual and better mpg and replace it with ABS/SCS for about the same price of $19,000 sticker. The premium wheels are super sharp. Nice ride.
Ford Jellymoulds
Looks a bit like the old Escort from the rear view.
FordBuyer
Looks a bit like the old Escort from the rear view. I woud think that this new Coupe in SES trim will boost Coupe sales a little. It reminds me a little of my '68 2dr Cortina GT that I drove for about 4 years. I had the 4 speed manual and it was zippy, fun car to drive. One of my favorites. the_spaniard
Looks a bit like the old Escort from the rear view. Ack. IMO that thing is still ugly, even with the +5 HP spoiler on the rear. BUT they are still selling, and get good MPG. So thank God taste is subjective.

Ford Jellymoulds
They are selling because they get good MPGs. Only reason. It's also the lowest Common Denominator price something cash strapped Americans find attactive, can't be a lot of profit in it for Ford as everybody downsizes from SUV's. Michael Reynolds
They are selling because they get good MPGs. Only reason. How do you know that? Do you have documented information somewhere, or are you just guessing? Has every small car posted a consistent increase every month this year (excluding the Civic and Corolla)? P71_CrownVic
Ya, the fact that its a blast to drive has nothing to do with it, right Matt? The Focus? A garden tractor would be more fun to drive than that hideous abortion.
danup
You've gotta work on a new saying, man. Anyway, the Cobalt's cheaper than the Focus, and it gets better mileage than the Focus, but it's increased its sales less this year; meanwhile, the new 2008 Ford Focus HA (for hideous abortion, of course) has gained a fair amount on its less aborted, cheaper predecessor, as well as the Civic and [all new] Corolla. Maybe--and just maybe--not everyone shares your opinion, and people find the new Focus better appointed! and more attractive! than both its predecessor and its competitors. P71_CrownVic
It does! W.O.O.P.S.:Wins On Overall Performance & Style! Except there is no winning (outsold by the lowly Cobalt), there is no performance, and there most certainly is no style...it looks like a class of third graders designed it...and then pasted all of the parts together. So you've driven a Focus as well and had the chance to compare it to everything else in its respective class? Cobalt sales......well according to mid year vehicle registrations GM sold almost 40K Cobalts to rental agencies, whereas Ford sold approx 20K. You have a hard time taking static information and abstracting details from it don't you?
TomServo92
(outsold by the lowly Cobalt As was pointed out in another thread, GM did a lot of fleet dumping in September. 53% of the Cam-cord-killer Malibu went to fleets. How many of the lowly Cobalts got fleet dumped do you suppose?
BORG
I sent my Dad to go look at an SES Coupe now that you told me they were at Bill Brown, he's in the market for a hot little gas sipper. Trying to unload his pickup and wants something fun and sharp, this should qualify for him (at least in black).
FordBuyer
I sent my Dad to go look at an SES Coupe now that you told me they were at Bill Brown, he's in the market for a hot little gas sipper. Trying to unload his pickup and wants something fun and sharp, this should qualify for him (at least in black). Sounds good. Glad to be of help. I would recommend the SES Coupe, especially with 5 speed manual. However, I do wonder about ride characteristics of those low profile tires. When I was younger, Iliked the tight, taut ride, but now I prefer higher profile tires with softer ride. Another problem is terrible MI rodes and low profile tires don't like each other. I once bought an Escort GT for my wife years ago with the low profile Goodyear Eagle tires, and she blew them up regularly. Bill Brown had in a few SE Focus Coupes with nice option list and they had the higher profile tires.

Michael Reynolds
You clearly have a hard time getting your facts straight. When you figure out the TRUE numbers...get back to me. Those were taken straight off of Fleet-Central. All I did was round up to nice even numbers. Do you have some special 'source' that no one else in the world knows about, computing numbers that are different than those?
Michael Reynolds
Yep... Which models? Stick or auto? Engines? Elaborate on what is so bad. Is the engine too coarse? Is the understeer horrible? Braking? Engine performance? Steering? What about it makes it so horrible?
