garpike
Local 228 and management tolds us when we left sterling that legacy employees can never come into sterling just two tier! Now you have had legacy people from romeo and vd coming to sterling! Maybe the uaw and management should of Open up the Book and told us thruth before we left.

Now you have had legacy people from romeo and vd coming to sterling! Maybe the uaw and management should of Open up the Book and told us thruth before we left. They did open the book and they told you something you mistakenly thought was the truth..... but, in reality it was what you wanted to hear. So you wouldn`t have to do that terrible thing called... "think" , you believed what you heard. Paying dues to have someone else think for you. Electing people who can`t think for themselves, much less think for the membership. Will guarantee one thing, the sheep will be able to bitch and moan about the results of others thinking for them. On and On.... Management never said that no legacy employees could ever come there. What they did say is when you put in for a posting to go to another plant that YOU will not have any call back rights to Sterling. you gave up Sterling as your home plant when you put in for MAP.
garpike
I still have alot of friends at sterling and vandyke that say the same thing! Some of first groups that left sterling, the information wasn't to clear! That's all I'm saying!
fuzzymoomoo
Ford wants as much Tier 2 at Sterling as possible (and Rawsonville too for that matter) because they don't count against the 20% cap don't be surprised if a lot of us from MAP end up at either of those 2 plants if that mythical 3rd shift at FRAP doesn't open up soon. nmsford
Nmsford,I hope you and other sterling people at van dyke get to go back to sterling! Thanks bud. But unfortunately for me like so many others who left won't have a chance to get back there. They won't let people volunteer to go, they force low. nmsford
Why do you regret it? The job I had at Sterling was 1000% better than what I have here. I'm stuck on C-shift on assembly line at Van dyke. At Sterling I could pick any shift I wanted in the best machining depts in that plant.

littlecountry
You can't always chase that moving allowance! If you have a good job you should have stayed where you were
nmsford
You can't always chase that moving allowance! If you have a good job you should have stayed where you were I didn't get any travel allowance, I only 1.5 miles away from my other plant. A lot of people who left Sterling were worried about what's in the contract about that plant being able to go 100% tier 2. And the contract also classifies every legacy employee at Sterling as "supplemental". Meaning they are first priority to be moved to other plants. That's why Sterling gets first dibs on every single job postings to move to other plants.

I know a lot of guys at Van dyke want to go to Livonia. Van Dyke is laying off 40 people next week and sending them to Sterling. I will bet that a lot of them will put in for Livonia if given the chance once they get to Sterling, they're seniority ranges from mid 2000-2002

When is Livonia supposed to post those jobs and how many? Edited May 5, 2015 by focusfrank
