kyle
First review I have read and it seems mostly positive..... http://www.autoblog.com/2015/05/18/2016-ford-explorer-first-drive-review-video/
sullynd
I saw a 2016 in the wild today for the first time on Michigan Ave, but it had Michigan M Plates.
papilgee4evaeva
C&D also seems to like it. As does Motor Trend. When the rags consistently praise Ford products, I have to wonder what their angle is. Just a bit. Both publications ding the Explorer for some packaging issues, which is fair since that's been a constant minus for the platform. akirby
They'll praise it now because it's new, then 6 months from now they'll tear it to shreds in a comparison test. Journalism, shmournalism.
papilgee4evaeva
True. So at this point I just accept it for what it is.
MKII
When the rags consistently praise Ford products, I have to wonder what their angle is. Just a bit. "The GMC Acadia/Chevy Traverse and Honda Pilot are contenders, but none of those drive as well as the Explorer, at least until the upcoming new models debut"
Moosetang
I see it more as, in these reviews we get a pretty genuine look at their feelings about the vehicle. But when they run a comparison test all we get is paid advertising or a display of odd mental gymnastics to justify their choice. Which is part of why I like Autoblog, they don't do the big dumb "5-way battle" articles that the rags love.
PREMiERdrum
I'm not too concerned about the new Pilot... it lacks the non-"Honda person" appeal that the outgoing model had. It will appeal to Honda buyers, but not much else.

Designing a CUV with a CR-V front end and an Odyssey rear is the epitome of pandering to your base.
