IggyAZ
Update: Dec 3, 2015 No comparison and I'm going with a 2016 MKX RESERVE. Love it and won't look back. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Original Message My wife and I are looking into buying either the 2016 MKX RESERVE or the full blown 2016 Edge Titanium. The differences are few but I'm sure you may all may know more. Hopefully your help us make the decision. The difference is the MKX is about $10,000 more than the Edge. I want the V6 that is not Eco\ I don't need all wheel drive do we are considering just front wheel drive. The MKX engines has a bit more HP and torque than the Edge version. The MKX has a much nice dash and interior and do like the push button transmission instead of the stick console. We don't expect to take any really long trips with it as I also have a smaller car for local shopping and stuff. The Lincoln MKX is definitely a classy car when side by side with the Edge. So this is where I stand so far. The MKX 2016's are available but the 2016 Edge won't be at the dealers until the end of Dec or in January 2016. So let the question start. Thanks Iggy in the cool part of Arizona Edited December 15, 2015 by IggyAZ
sullynd
Did they add a Platinum for 2016? Really happy with my 2016 Edge Titanium despite its flaws (which I attribute to it being an early-ish build.)
twintornados
Lincoln MKX has a certain amount of cache when compared to Ford Edge...both are really nice vehicles, but in the Lincoln, you will not see yourself coming and going with every turn on the road....and then there is the dealer experience...When I walk into my Ford/Lincoln dealer....I get a very different level of treatment that I have come to enjoy...Lincoln also has a higher level of content... theoldwizard
Lincoln MKX has a certain amount of cache when compared to Ford Edge... Yeah, close to $10,000 cash ! My Dad always wanted a Lincoln, but could never bring himself to spend the extra over a Grand Marquis.
akirby
We've owned 2 Lincolns (LS and Aviator) but the Ford Titaniums are so good now that in some cases I actually prefer the Ford version and just cannot justify spending the extra $5K - $10K on the Lincoln version. I don't blame Ford though - I think getting max cash for those that do see a difference and are willing to pay for it is smart business. And you do get a lot of added content, features, services and refinement for the added cost - so I do think it's justified. It's just not enough for me personally to spend the extra money. IggyAZ
Sullynd You have a 2016 Edge Platinum? Did you mean to say 2015. I didn't think they were off the line yet. Edited December 3, 2015 by IggyAZ
sullynd
I don't believe there is such a thing as an Edge Platinum, and yes, I meant to write 2015 Titanium.
IggyAZ
Hi All Well we stopped by our local Lincoln dealer who had a 2016 MKX and a 2015 Edge Titanium ready to see and test drive. Things I noticed. 1. The naturally aspirated V6 in the MKX has more HP/torque then the Edge. Very noticeable difference when driving and heavy acceleration. 2. I like the exterior of the MKX compared to the Edge. Tires and rims about the same. 3. MKX has nice features which the Edge didn't have. a. Push button transmission b. Electrical back seats fold down from the rear compartment switch c. Interior looked cleaner with more storage space in console. d. The MKX had the automatic folding side mirrors when parked. e. The MKX weight was 5,500 lbs. if I remember correctly and the Edge weight was a few hundred less. f. They both had the old Ford Touch Navigation and I definitely want the Sync 3.0 Navagation g. The drivers instrument panel was cleaner and easier to read (for an old guy) These are a few things I noticed but overall my guy is getting in some new MKX's next week with the Sync 3.0 and NO Vista Roof. Don't need this in Arizona lol OK folks I'm now going for a 2016 MKX and the difference is between $3,000 and $4,000 more than the Edge. If what he told me today he can get me one the color and all the options in Select Group 102A Select Option Group he says he can get it just over $44,000 without considering any incentives which should be about $1,500 So that about $42,500 before tax and Lic. I think its a good deal and I'm ready to rock and roll. What do you folks think? Thanks and if anyone want to make the first payment for me I'm ready. IggyAZ
Just got a call from my dealer and he is expecting some 2016 MKX's arriving with hopefully with the Sync 3's in them. Looks like we will get a MKX Reserve with the regular gas V6 and all the bells and whistles. NO Sun Roof We are going with the Bronze Fire Metallic with clearcoat and the Cappuccino interior with the wood finish. If he doesn't get one in I may have to order it. I hate to wait but he said I can come by and drive the MKX's he has to satisfy my cravings. Edited December 4, 2015 by IggyAZ
IggyAZ
Final chapter. I picked up my 2016 MKX with Sync 3 last Monday Jan 18th. I have taken a few trip and now have about 450 miles on the odometer. Everything is working flawlessly and here is a few of my observations. 1. Sync 3 was worth the wait and is super fast and voice commands are easy for me.2. Cell phone linking is easy on my Android and both phone calls and text messaging is now fun and effortless. 3. The 3.7L V6 has plenty of HP and Torque and was a great choice instead of the $2,000 for the turbo charged 4 cylinder. On the open road I cruised at 75 mph and very stable and quiet. I did take it up to 105 mph and still had more but I had passengers. lol 4. Adaptive HID headlights is a must as I think the LED don't reach the same distance or intensity. 5. The 20", 20 spoke rims and the Hankook tires are fantastic. I have been told that the 20" tires are the widest available and do make the car look awesome and are smooth and quiet at all speeds.6. The Ruby Red gains peoples attention compared to the basic colors and looks super sharp in the sun! 7. The electric steering and feel if much different than power steering and took a bit to get me accustom to it. 8. The Reserve seats are comfortable and the standard 10 way adjustment is enough for me. 9. I have been examining the fit and finish all around and inside and can't find anything wrong. 10. Gas mileage is 22-24 but I have been driving locally as well as highway at high speed so I feel that reasonable mpg for now. 11. GPS, Radio, SAT Radio work flawlessly and I have used the Lincoln App on my phone to start, stop and read all the engine stuff. It took a day to finalize online registration. I don't expect to use this much until summer when we start getting really hot here in Arizona and will be able to start my car way before getting to it in the parking lot. 12. Oh the transmission is sealed and mine doesn't have any dipstick. I have looked and asked others but it is no where to be found. Maybe it has some electronic sensor that tells you if its low and has a leak. 13. Sun/moon roof is a nice touch even though I didn't want it but now I'm glad I got it. 14. My MKX Job #2 has the menu item to turn on and off the automatic mirror retraction when locked. I know many in Canada was wanting to hear about this. Now I need to copy this and place it on the Lincoln website. Time to drive and enjoy. If you have any questions please ask away.

Iggy, Iggy, Iggy - if only you had RTFM'd like I told you too you would have seen that there is indeed a transmission dipstick. It's labeled H in the diagram. ibinubu12
There is no 4 cylinder (Turbo or otherwise) MkX. The Ecoboost MkX is the 2.7 V6. There is a 2.0L MKX for China export only. But you are correct, US is 3.7L V6 or 2.7L GTDI.
