Bronco R Prototype Has a Rough Time At The Baja 1000

Recommended Posts

He also mentioned something about a broken skid plate.

There was a lot of rain in the area a few days ago so the course is very muddy.

Some good news for Ford ... a Bronco finished the race.  It was the only Class 3 vehicle this year (production vehicle available to the public, short wheelbase, 4x4).

Donald Moss in #302, running a 1979 gen2 Bronco.  Maybe Ford will consider taking a little more inspiration from some Broncos that have finished or won the race.  Both of these contenders are sporting V8s and solid axles ...

Well, it looks like there were more troubles, and the Bronco R Prototype did not complete the race.  Skipped the last ~225 miles of the race course after cooling problems.

It's how you improve the breed.

First race out is the Baja 1000 . . . yeah, they get a pass from me.  Though it would have been nice if they could have finished . . .

No different than Le Mans 1964 & 65.  Drop the rig off at Shelby American before the next race,,,,,

Shelby isn't really into building race cars like they were in the '60s. Today it's more about modifying Mustangs and F-150s for street use with bolt-on parts mostly made by someone else and charging a fortune for using the Shelby name.
