Avg
Looking for some advice on what truck f350 or f450. Need to tow a 46 ft 5th wheel 16000 dry 20000 pounds loaded. Will be using the truck to tow the camper from New York to Florida and as far as Alaska. Need a truck that will back this camper up in tight Rv parks. This truck will all so be used as a daily driver. What I’m looking for in order. 1. Tow and stop 2. Comfortable 3. Ability to back up in tight spots 4. Good on fuel. What do you think? fordmantpw
F450 all the way. The tighter turning radius on the F450 will make a world of difference backing up in tight RV parks, as well as navigating parking lots easier since it will be a daily driver. Fuel economy will suffer a bit over an F350 when empty, but likely will be the same (or even slightly better) when towing.
akirby
Be aware that F-450s are hard to come by lately. Some orders are taking 2 years.

F-450 availability may be more difficult today, but the OTD (Order-to-Delivery) timeline has traditionally been much, much longer than the F-350 due to order specifications, supply chain issues, plant capacity, etc. The F-450 also serves a different customer base with heavier duty requirements best matched to the F-450. For consumers desiring or requiring F-450s, those customers place retail factory orders primarily due to the low availability of F-450 stock inventory which won't change. The F-450 availability is also impacted by demand from commercial and government-based fleet accounts.

I cannot confirm, but I believe most F-450 production is at Avon Lake as Chassis Cab models. Edited January 19 by twintornados
Ford truck guy
I would not only judge the purchace on the turning radius.. When backing in that 45’ fiver, the tuning radius will more than likely not come into play too often. The 2 trucks have a very similar payload capacity, and the 350 will be more than capable of doing its job for your needs. Now, this is only my opinion and I am sure there are many that will argue my point, thats ok…If you wanna gamble and wait for a new 450 order, or find one at a dealer and pay MSRP thats okay.. I have seen many deals on 24 F350 DRW’s online.
Firedog99t
Loved my F350. I know the F450 is a harder ride. But Stopping and turning is what made me up grade. so many times the turing would of been helpfull to me. And knowing bigger brakes may be a good idea too.
