Hugh
You guys are clowns. This does not look good. In fact, I'll say the same thing in the other thread. J/K y'all, it's a crazy Sunday.
PREMiERdrum
I still think it's too little, too late. I mean, what are the chances that they're going to lure anyone worth anything to a sinking company? It's like being asked to Captain the Titanic after it's already hit the Iceberg. This, and Lutz, this is just guys getting out with their $ while they still can.
Mark B. Morrow
NPR just reported that The Obama Adninistration asked Wagoner to step down. GM's spokesperson isn't denying the reports of Wagoner's leaving.

billyk24
Will the President's team also ask the head of the UAW to step down? I really question the Federal Government's ability to run a huge business when they can't even work to create a balanced budget.
Ovaltine
So here's Obama's first big move into personally cleaning out the ranks of the inept and/or corrupt world of business, eh? Why weren't similar heads made to roll from the ranks of High Finance, for considerably more outlaid monies? Keep reading and I think you may find your answer. But first, before everyone applauds too loudly about Wagner's demise, be sure to check out the following link. What happens when/if a non-loan taking company like Ford starts to slip a little? Geithner details plan for 'too big to fail' companies - MarketWatch http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/geit...iteid=bulletrss And after digesting the above, here's a little "Must See TV"...... The Obama Deception HQ Full length version Yeah... the last one has some "Lone Gunmen" elements to it, but if you just watch some of the actual MSM video footage of many of the important names you hear today speaking, you MAY just start scratching your head and wondering if there might not just be a little more going on behind the scenes than we think! Be sure to watch the first 20+ minutes of it or so.... I can almost assure you that you'll stick with it longer than you thought you would at the beginning of it! One interesting tidbit I gleaned from the video was this actual quote from Lincoln back in 1863! "The money power preys upon the nation in times of peace and conspires against it in times of adversity. It is more despotic than monarchy, more insolent than autocracy, more selfish than bureaucracy." "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. Corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed." From this video we learn that nearly all of Obama's closest advisors, appointees and staff are tied directly to the world of finance in some fashion. Hardly any (if any at all) people close to Obama are from other industries. Coincidence? Name the first head of any of the bailed out equity firms were asked to leave by Obama. And for your extra credit homework, just start by clicking on the provided Google links below, and start following the resultant links: Federal Reserve Bank privately owned Bilderberg Group Council for Foreign Relations Tri-lateral Commission connections bilderberg cfr trilateral federal reserve bank For instance... the last link produced this little independent gem in about 20 secs of clicking and reading. It basically states that Ron Paul goes on the record that everyone surrounding both Bush and now Obama are members of the organizations above. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0309/20010.html "I don't laugh at the people who claim that they understand the connections, but I've never really spent much time tracing that through," said Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), a former presidential candidate whose libertarian sensibilities have made him a darling of the Bilderberg conspiracists. "The one thing that concerns me is that the people who surround Obama or Bush generally come from the same philosophic viewpoint and they have their organizations – they have the Trilateral Commission, the CFR [Council on Foreign Relations] and the Bilderbergers, and they've been around a long time. And my biggest concern is what they preach: Keynesian economics and interventionism and world planning," he said. Bush and Obama running in the same circles? Say it ain't so, Joe! But according to the video above it makes complete sense. Coincidence? Design? You be the judge. -Ovaltine Edited March 30, 2009 by Ovaltine

Putting aside the overall silliness of that statement, they aren't "running" GM. The gov has given large amounts of money to GM to help it recover from problems largely of it's own making, and aren't in position to repay anytime soon. So, a pound of flesh was extracted before moving on.

What I'm now scared about, is if I go for a loan, and the bank tells me they don't like who I live with, if they have some attachments to the loan that I have to change where I work, what I do, how I make money, etc. etc. So they tell the head of the household to leave, you are now in a prepackaged divorce, and then next head of household will be who we say it is. 97svtgoin05gt
Good move for Obama/GM. I said from the beginning that he would need to go in order to get that house tidied up and move forward. He clearly had way too much old think going on to pull the thing forward. As someone else stated though, it may be too little too late. We shall see. PREMiERdrum
AP-APNewsAlert,0038 Officials: US to give GM, Chrysler more money WASHINGTON (AP) - Officials tell The Associated Press that the Obama administration is giving General Motors financing for 60 days to restructure; Chrysler will get up to $6 billion and 30 days to complete alliance with Italian automaker Fiat. Who the hell thinks they can restructure in 60 days? Geesh. The pace towards bankruptcy picks up.

This isn't off subject, BUT what happened with the deal of Nissan supplying small cars for Chrysler? Chrysler was to make them full size Rams, and suddenely no more word on all that, and a big push to Fiat.

PREMiERdrum
Say what you want, this needed to happen for GM to move forward. I'm anxious, though, to see what PARTS of GM move forward. I'm no Rick fan, that's for sure. But ousting 1 exec isn't going to turn things around. I'm certain the kind of wholesale restructuring that is needed at GM cannot even be scratched in 60 days. This is the Obama administration's ceremonial "last straw" so is looks like everything that could have been done was, before the bankruptcy. I think this will put more pressure on the bond holders to take equity positions. They have to be convinced that real change is coming to GM. Wagoner has been the face of GM for 8 years. He's been reinventing GM for 7 of those years without much to show for it. Hopefully GM will follow Ford's lead and bring some in from outside who is not stuck in the GM way. GM needs a Mulally level change in the way they do everything.
