  1. As soon as the OK to buy has been given the retail orders are scheduled and that happened a week or two ago. This is not a secret and the dealers have all of this information if they want to go get it. You do understand that not even Ford knows exactly when Ok to buy will happen - it's based on attaining 5 straight days of error free builds. Could be 1 week or 5 weeks. It sucks from a planning perspective and frustrating if you're waiting for a vehicle but without that process they would not have found the headlight problems so quickly and there would be more problems with early retail orders so it's a double edged sword. Buyers have grown to expect incentives from domestic vehicles even if they're brand new. I believe Ford calculates this into their pricing so they can offer a small incentive from day one if necessary.
  2. The brochure indicates they will be a stand alone option on Reserve or Preferred models only. If they're not listed on the order sheet then you're not getting them.
  3. This is such a no-win situation for Ford. If Ford did not allow pre-orders then everyone would be whining about not being able to place an order early. So they allow pre-orders and now everyone is whining when their orders don't show up immediately. The dealers should take this into account and provide ETAs for pre-orders that are at 3 months later than Job 1 just to be safe. That is more realistic given all of the potential delays with launching a new vehicle. People won't like it but at least the ones who do place orders won't be disappointed when their car doesn't show up 1 month after job 1.
  4. 3.5L and 3.7L NA engines get the 6F50. 3.5L EB gets the 6F55.
  5. The dealers are as informed as they want to be. The only unknown is when the OK to buy will be given because that is based on 5 consecutive days of error free builds and that could take 5 days or 50 days - nobody knows. But once the ok to buy is given and Ford starts shipping vehicles they do tell the dealers. Salespeople do not work for Ford - they work for the dealer which is an independent business.
  6. The OK to buy was given a week or two ago so they're now en route to dealers. The Fusion problems caused some delays at the factory.
  7. I thought doubling sales was the 4 year goal and if they get all 7 vehicles redone the right way and the dealerships upgraded I don't think that will be a problem.
  8. Ford has total control over the tires. They may not do this for every vehicle but I know personally of one vehicle where Ford went through about 20 different tire formulations before finding one they liked. Michelin makes at least 4 different versions of the Pilot HX MXM4 for different mfrs.
  9. Ford designed their hybrids to go as fast as possible under electric only power. Last generation this was mid 40s. They managed to get it up to 62 which is no small engineering feat especially when you consider nobody else even comes close. It was a coincidence that most of the EPA test is under 62. If they could have gotten it to 70 mph they would have.
  10. Horse hockey. Anything you can do to improve EPA test mileage will also help real world driving provided you drive the same way the EPA test drives.
  11. 10 is the highest normal (dealer assigned) priority. Only Ford can assign a priority of 9 usually reserved for special circumstances.
  12. Have you forgotten all of the planned dealership changes? They're doing exactly what you suggest but you can't expect it to happen overnight.
  13. Yes they are. They have to. If they don't then there is no point.
  14. All of the cars built before OKTB are held after inspection and if repairs are necessary those have to be completed before they're shipped. Once OKTB is given the retail (sold) orders go into production along with other dealer orders and those are shipped immediately.
  15. I don't think they do the 5 day thing for Job 2. Did you hear that from an employee?
  16. You said they dropped the Taurus for the 500 and SoonerLS said they dropped the Five Hundred name and replaced it with Taurus. I think you were talking about dropping the OLD Taurus and replacing it with a new vehicle called the Five Hundred. SoonerLS was talking about dropping the Five Hundred name and changing it back to Taurus.
  17. This is the problem with using ratings like "Good" and "Poor". I'm sure those "Poor" performers would have been top picks just a few years ago. It's like changing the high school grade system so that 85 is now a C instead of a B.

  19. Part of the extra cost of a diesel is due to it requiring a heavier duty transmission to handle the added torque.
  20. Would the outcome have been any different in NewTown if the shooter had a 20 shot pistol with extra clips? Of course not. You're missing the point.
  21. I expect this to be a highly stylized concept vehicle - not necessarily a pre production prototype. It's a chance for Wolff to show off his new stying direction and to convince the critics that future Lincolns will be distinct. Because of that I predict a totally new upgraded drivetrain (maybe a 2.7L EB with a 8 speed tranny) and some stunning sheet metal.
  22. You mean the bullets just jump out of the box and kill people? That's because these people go to schools where they know they're not likely to encounter a citizen with a gun. Surely even you can understand that. You never hear about these people going into a police station or a bar where off duty cops hang out or to a shooting range. They go for easy targets. And if he didn't have a gun, he'd use a machete. The only way to stop someone hell bent on killing innocent people is for the innocent people to have a weapon and be able to defend themselves. Relying on anything else is sheer stupidity.
  23. Loved the comments about fuel economy and EPA testing.
