  1. Makes sense that the Fusion Active possibly will replace the Edge. Hopefully it will be offered in hybrid/plugin form. No real need for all electric. This way it will have wider audience no matter where they live.
  2. I think you mean "electrified" new or redesigned vehicles. So far, all new or redesigned Ford vehicles have electrified versions. Ford is covering all bases so that customers can pick what they want. Expedition and probably Super Duty are the ones left out so far other than Edge. Toyota, Ford, and Hyundai/Kia seem to have it figured out. Millions want a BEV only, but many more millions just want a more fuel efficient, affordable vehicle, more green vehicle that uses the present infrastructure. Meanwhile, the transition to full electric, hydrogen combustion engine, and synthetic fuels only will take a long time.
  3. I miss vehicles like that.....affordable, fun to drive, light, tossable, and a huge greenhouse for visibilty.
  4. No one is talking about bringing back a full lineup of Ford sedans. My Escape is probably closer to a sedan than a CUV with its lower profile and resulting higher fuel mileage. Basically a Focus Hatchback slightly raised. The possibility of a Fusion Active has been there last couple years and basically be Ford's one sedan offering. A performance based 4 door sport sedan would be Lincoln's using Mustang platform. And Ford should still bring the Puma over here that looks like a smaller, cuter Escape.
  5. Ford suspended sedans in N.A., they didn't end them forever. The fact that Ford is keeping sedans current in much of the world means they can bring them back here anytime. With high fuel prices, probably sooner than later.
  6. I really think th add that within 5-10 years Ford will have at least 2 sedans in N.A. It's only a matter of time, especially if fuel prices remain high for rest of decade and CUV/SUV segment gets more crowded.
  7. I could be wrong, but if you want the long range Lighning, it only comes in the highest trim levels that start at $70,000 or so. Since Ford never continued the Excursion, not sure why Ford would build a 9,000 pound Hummer like BEV that would be very low volume just because others do it. Probably a BEV Expedition some day, and the Expedtion Max is plenty big and more practical than showy Hummer. Let GM have the Hummer and Corvette. Both probably lose GM money most years.
  8. Just watched Netflix documentary on Boeing. Showed Alan Mulally back in the 90's leading Boeing when it built quality aircraft. Then the big merger with McDonnel/Douglas and quality went to hell. I wouldn't touch Boeing stock no matter how cheap it gets after watching that documentary.
  9. Rivian just may need Ford's production expertise if it expects to get out of production hell. Lucid is having even more problems and completed vehicles have lots of issues. Ford has already built 2,000 Lightnings as it has taken Rivian 6 months to build that many.
  10. Yeah, I don't get that either...only paper loss or gain if Rivian hadn't entered production hell. Ford's operations beat profit expectations.
  11. Jalopnik seems to think it will be a BEV Ranger. I sure hope they are right. Ford needs another affordable BEV priced below the Lightning. The long range Lightning starts at $70,000+. A long range BEV Ranger under $50,000 would be good.
  12. I hope not. The world doesn't need another 9,000 pound Hummer as much of Southern U.S. is on fire. India has record heat and not even summer yet.
  13. Jim Farley is appearing on Mad Money tonight as Ford is in Cramer's travel trust. It should be interesting conversation, and who knows, Farley may reveal something.
  14. I would imagine Musk is going to use Twitter as a Tesla advertising instrument. Although it certainly could be a platform for Tesla haters too. Musk has a tendency to shut down Tesla/Musk haters. We will see how far "free speech" goes with Musk when the haters show up on his new platform.
  15. The answer seems to be solid state batteries, more clean energy, hydrogen powered combustion engines, and synthetic fuel. Then we are getting to a good place. Thousand pound batteries full of mined, exotic metals is just a starting point. If the above doesn't happen, then we will not get where we need to be.
  16. They both became bat shit crazy as they aged. Both visionary, but very flawed. I read Musk's biography, and he was horribly bullied at his South African high school. Growing up in South Africa was probably problematic for him. I also read the biography of Henry, and he sure was downright evil at times. His prejudices sure became more extreme as he aged.
  17. Their growth is staggering, especially when ATP is around $60,000. The Fremont factory alone produces 500,000 vehicles/year. And 3 other factories on line or coming on line this year. Farley has a lot of catching up to do. And Tesla doesn't seem especially bothered by supply chain problems unlike Ford.
  18. Since Ford is not doing particularly well in CUV segment (still losing market share), you would think Ford would have one sedan like Ford and one Lincoln. A Fusion Active type vehicle and Lincoln performance sedan based off the Mustang platform. Maybe it will happen over time. There are opportunities in different segments as Ford found with Bronco especially.
  19. Ford and its battery sponsor are working on solid state battery too. I believe all the major auto companies are working hard on it. Especially now with shortages of expensive metals. To say only Nissan is working on it is very wrong. On side note, the new Nissan variable compression ICE engine gets fuel mileage almost as good as comparable hybrid.
  20. Supposedly, solid state batteries will not require lithium, nickel, or any other minerals for that matter. And supposedly solid state batteries will be here in a few years.
  21. It's hard to believe that anyone could be pickier than Americans. Very hard to believe. Not that long ago, most Chinese rode bikes.
  22. Since pickups are by far the largest segment and Ford dominates it, and if you add in the Transit EV, then Ford will be the most important BEV maker in the land. Unlike Rivian that can't seem to get out of its own way, Ford should be able to get out of the gate quickly with its production know how. To really make a difference in emissions, work trucks and vans is where you make the difference the most. Ford has hit the sweet spot.
  23. GM has a clutter of SUV/CUV vehicles that make no sense. Intro the Trailblazer and now announce a new Trax. WTF. Not long ago GM had a bunch of small sedan clutter and now getting rid of them. It seems GM just throws a bunch of stuff at the wall and sees what sticks. Will probably do the same with EVs.
  24. All that black cladding is really off putting. Way too much.
