  1. And they approached Ford about a merger first. new york times
  2. There's actually a physical key that slides out from inside that fob, if you want to manually lock/unlock or start the car. The top part of the key (which the metal hoop goes through), when key is inserted in the fob, competes the oval shape of the fob. Hard to explain. Pics of fob without and with key inserted respectively, are attached.
  3. New interior pics of the new Taurus Left Lane News Is that the trunk release button on the passenger side (under the vent) of the center stack?
  4. You might be using a mono audio cable. Take a look at the rings near the end of the connector. If there is one ring, it's mono, if there are two, it's stereo.
  5. After months of consideration, I finally joined the Mazda5 owners club. A while back, we had narrowed our choice for the family hauler down to the Mazda5, so we rented an '08 for 3 days from Hertz. We really liked it, and I started e-mailing dealers to see if they could beat S plan pricing on an 08 or 09. I found most dealers would offer S plan on an '09, and S plan minus $500 on the remaining '08s. We ended up buying a used 06 Mazda5 sport. It doesn't have the upgrades that '08s have, but we figured we could live without them in exchange for paying about 50% of what a new one costs. We love it so far. It has a ton of utility, and more than enough room for our young family (kids are 2 and 6).
  6. I did. Bought it from my godfather's estate when he passed away. Man, that front end was long. Can't count the number of cars I dinged with it in various parking lots. Bad brakes, balding tires, died while coming to a stop (would lose power steering and braking), smelled like mildew. Overall poor mechanical shape. Not a good car for a new driver, but it was FREEDOM!
  7. Favorite Car I've Owned: 77 Volvo 264 (tank like when I wasn't paying to have it repaired) http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Vo...264_GL_1977.jpg Least Favorite I've Owned: 88 Plymouth Reliant K (my college buddies called it birth control) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Reliant Love/Hate: 78 Ford LTD II Broughm (loved it because it was my first car (which I paid $400 for), hated it because it was huge, ugly and sucked gas) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_LTD_II
  8. More spy shots of the 2010 Taurus from LLN, although they're heavily clad in camouflage. http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-taurus-2010.html
  9. NEW 2009 FORD F-150: MOST PICKUP FOR THE MONEY DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 18, 2008 – After setting the standard for capability, reliability and quality for 31 years, Ford is now offering even more truck for the money with the new 2009 Ford F-150 – including unsurpassed fuel economy. "No other truck offers more capability with better fuel economy than the 2009 Ford F-150," said Matt O'Leary, Ford F-150 chief engineer. "When the truck hits showrooms in October, truck buyers will see real value." The 2009 Ford F-150, now with more standard safety equipment than any other half-ton pickup, offers comparable or better pricing at all three cab configurations versus the competition. The F-150 Lariat SuperCrew, for example, starts at $35,820*, more than $5,000 less than a comparably equipped 2009 Dodge Ram. The 2009 Ford F-150 also offers more value compared with the current F-150. With the XLT SuperCrew, customers receive $1,000 more value versus the previous model with the addition of $1,600 in standard equipment for 2009. The base Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for Ford's workhorse, the XL Regular Cab, starts at $21,320*; and the popular XLT SuperCab starts at $29,160*. "With the new F-150, we are offering customers more capability and choice with better-equipped trucks at a greater value than the competition," said Mark Grueber, Ford F-150 marketing manager. "With the high-volume XLT series, we are able to offer more towing capability, hauling capacity, more standard safety features, industry-exclusive Easy Fuel™ and V-8 power at a starting price of more than a $1,000 less than a comparably equipped competitive truck." All 2009 Ford F-150 pickups are equipped with more standard safety features than any other half-ton truck on the market and Ford anticipates that the new F-150 will achieve NHTSA 5-star rating and IIHS "Best Pick." Ford F-150 safety features include: * AdvaceTrac® with RSC® * Trailer Sway Control * Anti Lock Breaking System * Safety Canopy® side curtain air bags with roll-fold technology for enhanced head protection in rollovers and side impacts * Front seat-mounted side air bags with patented K-shape design * Personal Safety System® * SOS post-crash alert system and new seats and restraints The Ford F-150 also offers the industry-exclusive Easy Fuel™ capless fuel filler, V-8 power across the lineup and unsurpassed fuel economy of 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway with the new SFE package. 10. Thanks for the update, please keep them coming. I find these sort of real world reviews much more useful than the ones I read from professionals.
  11. A couple new spy pics of the 2010 Milan via Left Lane News. link
  12. Nice work, BORG. How cool is it to have one of the forum regulars capture a spy pic!?!?!?
  13. Regfootball- Congrats on your new purchase. Any more impressions of your new Taurus X now that you've have some more seat time in it? Likes, dislikes etc. What sort of fuel economy are you getting? Considering getting a used 08 and would like to hear from owners who have already made the plunge.
  14. Couldn't agree more. Amongst my pier group (30 somethings, college educated, young kids, middle class), you should see the blank stares I get when I suggest Ford products. If it doesn't have a Honda, Toyota, Subaru or Mazda badge on it, it doesn't seem to even come into consideration.
  15. A pic of the 2010 Taurus clay model still under wrap in this months "MyFord" magazine link (page 25) that I just got in the mail today. Not much to see, I know, but I'm no Brenda Priddy.
  16. Our '99 Taurus has been rock solid. 107k miles so far, and nothing more than a battery, fluids, belts, brakes and tires. Unless you count the TWO side mirrors the Mrs. has managed to rip off...
  17. Typically not a Chevy car design fan, but it looks really good.
  18. Cool thread, I wasn't familiar with the MC4. Here are a few more pics I dug up.
  19. Last I heard is there is a $4500 incentive from Honda. There may be more in the fall as the refreshed '09 models hit the lots.
  20. What are the terms of the lease (how much down, how many months, miles a year etc.)? There isn't anything like that in my region (Pac NW), and am interested to see what the Flex lease deal is. I tried entering a Detroit zip on the Ford incentive page, and I'm not finding a published Flex lease offer.
  21. I've been checking out user submitted real world mileage numbers at fueleconomy.gov
  22. I'm having a hard time tracking down definitive side impact regulation info as well. Here's what appears to be the latest: * 20 percent of each manufacturer’s light vehicles manufactured during the production year beginning (four years after publication of a final rule; for illustration purposes, September 1, 2009); * 50 percent of each manufacturer’s light vehicles manufactured during the production year beginning September 1, 2010; * All vehicles manufactured on or after September 1, 2011. From section X (Proposed Lead Time and Phase-In) at link
  23. I'm guessing: New whitespace vehicle = C-Max New Mercury small car in 2010 = Convertible Focus variant (Capri?) Sable is dead, since no mention of it along w/ new 2009 Taurus
