Ford Motor Company August 2014 Sales Results
elkarlo replied to atomcat68's topic in Production and Sales
Wow, honestly the Explorer is doing great! I thought it would be an under 5k a month vehicle from now on. The days of decent Explorer sales were long past us. I am pleasently surprised here. -
To be fair the US dollar was heavily devalued first. Japan is just playing ctahcup. I think the dollar = 97-103 yen is about fair.
-
is it? Too bad, it is a fun looking car. Sad, but you can't save a car that sells under 50k a year. I agree, the Edge needs an update. Like the Escape, it has done well, but it needs a refresh like the Escape had Would also like to see Ford get into Heavy Trucks some more. As Hino/Toyota are making some serious headways into the US market.

Ford Sales Results: July 2013

Does Ford make money off of the Fiesta when sold in the US? -
Was Ford too quick to sell JLR?
elkarlo replied to Joe771476's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Exactly, on the Mazda part. In China, seperating production now with Mazda, is costly and pointless. Mazda is a good second window into a lot of areas with poor Ford coverage. They also make some seriously nice vehicles. Really is a shame. I hope Ford reinvests in Mazda, at least to the point where they can appoint dirctors to the board. -
Was Ford too quick to sell JLR?
elkarlo replied to Joe771476's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Agreed. Ford needed the money, or really didn't have the money to keep JLR going. Getting rid of it was good for Ford at the time. Also Ford needed the focus that not having Volve and JLR gave em. Yeah I miss not having those brands in our portfolio, but it has helpe dout Ford. What I do regret is the deepening divide with Mazda. I feel that closer collaberation and shared facilties would help both companies -
yeah, it is a dying niche really. Why waste all that R&D on it. Tell you what, Alan knows what he is doing. He has dragged us kicking a screaming deep into the black

Ford Doubling its Dividend
elkarlo replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Agreed. Though the payou percentage is still pretty low, so it prolly was needed to get the stock up, and the credit rating too. Also, hope they put some more investing into China/Asia. As the profit margins will eventually grow there -
Ford Doubling its Dividend
elkarlo replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
With the P/E ratio being so crazy low ie around 4 and a bit, F is heavily undervalued imho. Maybe not this year, but $20 is very doable in the next 18 months or so imho. Which is a massive gain % wise. Very happy about this. Also I am letting my dividends automatically reinvest -
Ford April 2012 Sales Figures
elkarlo replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I bought a Focus the other day. The dealer didn't have that many in stock. The ones they did, were mainly the unpopular colors, and models. It's not just the amount there have in inventory, it's the type too.- 197 replies

I have lived in Japan for the last 3 years. Good luck. Japan is a dying auto market, with a lot of odd ball sizes, and rules. Which is prolly damaging to the auto industry in general. Anyhow, be nice to see more than a single dealership per province. But i don't see any profits here.
-
Wow 85% I had no idea they let that much of it go. Being in E Asia though, I see a crap ton of the Fuso trucks among other work trucks.
-
We all know it's junk. Well do they make a profit on it anymore? Anyhow they are prolly the smallest indepedent car mnfger. Wonder how they can pay for their R&D. As they are the same size as Mazda. While Mazda at least has Daddy Ford to rely on. Anyhow it's clear Mitsu should either stop the cars like Isuzu did, or partner up with someone. Chry was a disaster as both were helpless and didn't have anything of value to add. Though Mitsu makes some cool Off road vans. So if they do, who do you think they will partner up with. As cars are costing a lot more to dvlp, and they're falling farther and farther behind.
-
Just looking at the junk that they turn out here in Japan I really can't see their car section surviving. The trucks do great business in East Asia as well as NA. What will happen to the car section of Mitsu? Join the borg that is Toyota? Try again with Fiat Chry?

Ford should kill Lincoln - keep Volvo?
elkarlo replied to kris_norway's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
well im confused from how many times they changed their strat. anyhow my point is vovlo is well know world wide, and owning them is like having a coat on the seat at the movies. it keeps it from being used by others. -
February 2010 - Small Cars
elkarlo replied to waymondospiff's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I hope people will see that the Fiesta will prolly not outsell the Focus in the US. The market doesn't exist yet. I think we'll see 4-6k a month sales wise, more than that is good luck. -
Ford should kill Lincoln - keep Volvo?
elkarlo replied to kris_norway's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Yeah but they want Lincoln to be a global brand. I don't see that happening anytime soon. While I do see Volvos much more often than Fords here in Japan. People know Vovlo outside of the US. -
Lincoln Maybe Sold Globally....Someday
elkarlo replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
sorry usin my cell anyhow, i think with just lincoln, that they have no choice but make decent offering. this may be a departure from ford buying companies instead of building its way into the lux market. heck ford bought lincoln. saw a 929, wonder if they can get mazda to split the plat r an d costs? -
Lincoln Maybe Sold Globally....Someday
elkarlo replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
i think maybe since the euro market has a generally lower profit margin. that maybe ford thought it just wasnt worth the set up costs. oh and speaking of acura, anyone who bashes mercury should beat up on acura too. at least ford has lincoln too -
Lincoln Maybe Sold Globally....Someday
elkarlo replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
naw, yaks nowdays mear suits, only way to tell is by the hair. they drive bmws and mer now. its the yankees and rap guys who drive big american cars here. -
I think what is also helping Korea while at the same time hurting the Japanese companies is the relative strength of the currencies. The Won is worthless, while the yen is pretty strong. So Hyundai can make cars for much cheaper and dissaemble them and reassemble them in the US for cheaper than Toyo/Honda.
