  1. This is the type of overreaction that is infuriating. The production GT was only built to satisfy the requirement of a racing series of having a production car and be a halo technology vehicle. The fact they use the same engine spec, in my opinion, adds to the car. Plus the GT production car is why more race car than the ZR1. The ZR1 is built on the same platform (with significant changes) as the base vette. I would absolutely guarantee that if the GT had roughly the same HP than the ZR1 (versus being down 100hp and over 150tq) it would beat the times. Only an internet benchmark racer would call the GT a failure. The fact that everyone that drives the ZR1 calls it scary and on the verge of being too much engine for that platform, says a lot. It's a success in your eyes because of lap times though.
  2. Mind you, both we're just very high level reviews.....mostly just going over features. Not a review of how it rides, performance, or any other metric really.
  3. The Accord is a great sedan. However, the Escape with the 2.0 isn't bad either, just getting a little long in the tooth. There is enough pep in the 2.0.
  4. PLEASE JUST KILL IT! FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANITY, KILL IT! If anything worsens Lincolns image.
  5. I think they should have turned up the wick a bit more on the 2.0 (which it can handle) to 275/300. Really, the Nautilus needed the 2.3 but I've harped on that a million times. The positive on this is that I've heard fuel economy numbers have increased by 2-3 mpg with new transmission and AWD system.
  6. Both have the same engine and trans. I am wondering how much better it will be. It will be interesting to see just how much difference there is.
  7. ST is very pricey. I think for me, at that price point I'd just go with the Nautilus.
  8. I saw a new MKC at the dealer so I am assuming it's on sale now.
  9. abomination! That's what you call too much time and money on their hands, along with poor taste.
  10. After the first few Waze updates after the applink release, it's worked flawlessly for the most part. I really like it and use it all the time. I will update my iphone tonight and try tonight.
  11. I too am a car guy. However, I see the value in having a CUV/SUV/Truck. I will admit, with just my son and I, I've filled my Fusion absolutely full. He still needs a stroller so that takes up a large part of the trunk. When I had my Escape and Edge, I never had to worry about packing lite. Really, other than that I didn't like being in CUV. They just don't handle well. I like the ride in my Fusion better. If I had the money I would have sprung for a Continental.
  12. I am going to go out on a limb here, with no facts to back this up so take it with a grain of salt. I think Hackett was probably apprised of the issues that Ford faced long before coming to Ford. My guess is that he and Bill had been in contact about things long before he came into his role. This is just a theory. I see it in my industry all the time. Folks meet, get chummy, talk, talk some more and keep in contact. When an opportunity arises they talk some more to see if there is any interest. Just my take but I don't think he was totally blind as to what was going on.
  13. Amazon doesn't always have the best prices. What they do have is a lot of services that make it convenient to be a Prime member. Free/fast shipping. In Chicago, I can get my stuff same or 1 day a lot of times. I do buy a lot of car care products there, as they are pretty cheap.
  14. I had a feeling it would be like this. This is what I think of with the use of white space vehicles.
  15. I like sedans but I know I'm in the minority. I wonder what the biggest reason people buy sedans? Cost/Value proposition? For example if you gave a consumer a choice, a Fusion and an Edge (equally equipped and same price) which would they choose? I bet 90% would choose the Edge but that's just my guess. Now in the real world, they aren't priced the same at all. The better deals are on the Fusion.
  16. I just hope we are done with the amateur hour unveiling. Do you remember the Expedition unveiling at the Cowboys stadium? I can't possibly think of a worse unveiling.
  17. Going over the numbers I started to think about the future. In one year, what new vehicles will be on dealer lots? Edge/Nautilus, Aviator/Explorer and Ranger were the few I could think of. Not sure when Bronco or Maverick are coming out.
  18. Yes, and no. It was cheaper than producing the same vehicle in NA.
  19. While I agree with that, the trade war is making a treading water situation much worse. If they close WI production and start production in another country to survive, who gets screwed. The American worker, that's who.
  20. Fuzzy, you're sounding too jaded on this one. Look, I get that you don't like Hackett. I just don't think you can put this one squarely on him. I agree that things need to be done about the deficit but don't agree on Trump's way about going about things. Trump is a loose cannon right now, whether his intentions are for the right reason or not, he's hurting US companies. HD and Ford are not both feeling the pain. In my mind, Hackett is damned if does or damned if doesn't. What if tariffs go away in a few months, they'll be able to import again. One thing is for certain though, I would much rather have Hackett do this than continue to import and lose money on every one just to save face.
  21. I'm a big believer in 1000-2000 mile first oil changes. I am an oil nerd though (I can admit that). If you are going to use Motorcraft oil, I would do 5000 mile oil changes (maybe 6 with full synthetic). The Ecoboost engines with turbo and DI are hard on the oil and bring some unique issues to deal with. I would only use a Dexos1 Gen 2 oil at this point, especially if you want to go over 5k OCI's. Ford did recently change some of their certifications but I don't know enough about it yet.
  22. They just got hammered on CNBC. A "company that doesn't know what direction they are going." The fact is (not to bring politics into this) Trump, hurting US companies right now. Ford is just the next in line to take the punishment. Is GM going to stop importing Chinese built cars? I am all for making high margin autos and getting out of things that don't make sense (money). In the end, this may benefit US companies but right now there some that are in the cross hairs because of Trump. This just adds to their stupid PR of saying no more cars. Fire everyone in PR, they have been next to useless for at least 5 years.
  23. How? This has captain Cheetos dirty finger prints all over it. Would it make sense for them to bring it here and not make money on it thanks to tariffs?
  24. I'm starting to get the feeling that there couldn't have been a worse choice for Ford than having Fields lead the company. It's like he put Ford back in near 2005 territory in record time. I do think next year will be better for Ford but they just have to get these freaking products out already. It's like a software company talking about vaporware, at some point somebody is going to say prove it. That's what's happening to Ford right now. Everything is all mythical to the consumer anyway, as I know the press has seen things.
