  1. I hadn't seen anyone mention this so this caught me by surprise. I wonder if this would be a prototype that would bring Powerboost tech to the Superduty line??? Lots of questions here. This is technically coming from Ford Authority and reported by Autoblog. Autoblog
  2. Came away impressed after last nights presentation. It was more than I was expecting. As a whole, I think this a good first step for Ford in the electric truck market. I mean, having a commercial version option at 40k all the way to a fully loaded Platinum at 90k makes sense. They aren't pulling a "we're only making the expensive ones first". I watched the TFL video on this, and they made a great point. Ford will have the most complete truck lineup of any manufacture. Gas, hybrid, diesel, and electric options available on virtually all trim levels. Just think about that, virtually all trims can get these options. The customers will dictate when they make the move from gas to electric (and if there is a stop at hybrid in between) but Ford has all the bases covered. Even next year, we'll get the Halo Supercharged V8 in the Raptor as a send off.
  3. I have a question. Why is the reveal at 9:30 EST? Seems kinda late. While I am hopeful for some details, I will expect more of what we got in the Raptor reveal. A 3-5 minute video and that's it.
  4. It appears C&D noticed it too. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a36464664/2022-ford-f-150-lightning-leaked/ There is also a tweet from CSPAN with Biden doing a spirited sprint in it.....4.3 0-60??????
  5. Autoblog Over 9000lbs!!!! That's pretty porky! Wondering what the Lightening will weigh now? How will the weight apply to EPA rating???
  6. I hooked it up to my portable jump starter and it started right up. I drove around for 20 minutes and then took it to Autozone to check the battery. They claimed the battery tested fine. I could take it to another place to double check since it's free. If my battery is fine, I'll replace cooling fan relay for roughly 20 bucks (based on hearing fan going yesterday after I shut off) myself and see what happens. If that doesn't solve it, a dealership visit is in order (ughhh).
  7. It is. Since the battery is completely drained and worked perfectly yesterday, I was thinking something was draining it. I most likely will have it tested though just to be on the safe side. I had been planning on replacing it eventually since it's near that time. Just want to make sure I fix the root cause before I replace.
  8. I had an interesting/annoying thing happen recently.I had an out of blue dead battery about a month ago. I am talking so dead that I couldn't open the doors. I used a batter jumper and started right up. No problems until last night. I remember getting out of the car noticing that the engine fan was still running when I exited the car. In the back of my head, I thought if I have a dead battery tomorrow I will have a good idea why. Sure enough, this morning absolutely dead. Am I correct in think that this fan could be draining my battery? I have a powertrain extended warranty but thinking this wouldn't be covered. Anybody have any thoughts on what this could be (fuse, relay)? I could take it in but not sure it's covered and if I can fix it easily I will do it. I appreciate any input on this.
  9. It just confirms that I don't need the V6. I put premium in all my Ecoboost engines. 300/330 should be plenty for me.
  10. Fairly certain that is the Lincoln Navigator Concept with Gullwing doors. See link https://media.lincoln.com/content/lincolnmedia/lna/us/en/navigator-concept.html
  11. Is the chip storage hitting Ford more than anyone else? Is it more of the spin of other automakers? Did other automakers have a giant inventory? I truly don't know. GM seems to be less transparent than Ford as of late in their press releases, in my opinion. In regards to the Covid and chip shortage, it appears Ford would make an announcement that they would be impacted. GM would be asked about it and they would respond they wouldn't or be less so. Then 2-3 weeks later GM is impacted.
  12. Do we know what the expected mix of Tremors are for the F150 and Ranger? I think Ford has done a great job with creating stepped off road packages starting with FX4.
  13. I almost got a 91 Integra before I found the Civic. I went from a basic manual 97 Escort to a 93 Civic stick. I then realized that my Escort DID NOT have a good stick shift. Those years for Honda really solidified their sporty/quality reputation. I came real close to buying a 17 Accord V6 but the AWD/better deals pushed me towards the Fusion. You couldn't pay me to drive most Toyota's even though they are quality appliances. GM...a big nope. I will be interested in pricing and sales for this new Civic compared to their other models.
  14. I'm biased, as I had a 93 Si hatchback, but my favorite generation is the 5th Gen (followed by 4th, and 6th). The 10th was a total abomination. It's like they let a jr high school kid who had been raised on the fast and the furious franchise design the car. My 93 was a great car especially since I was in college. Put 275k on it after buying it used with 60k. They just don't make cars like that anymore. It had some utility since it was a hatch, fun to drive, easy to maintain, and thrifty at the pump. As a middle aged adult, I don't know if I would feel the same way now but....nostalgia.
  15. It's OK I guess. Like a miniature Accord to an extent. I don't like the scrunchy face of the new Accord. Interior looks interesting. I like the cheese grater look going across the dash area as it is unique. It will probably get fantastic MPG. It will do ok for the Honda loyalist who absolutely wants a fuel efficient, cheaper sedan. I just can't see paying for this knowing I could get a CRV for a bit more. I am starting to think with the HRV and CRV, the Civic sales number will continue to trend downward much like the Accord (with Passport and Pilot).
  16. I don't think the Bronco will be a fad. When I think fad I think PT Cruiser and whatever GM made to copy it, the last iteration of the Thunderbird, and Prowler. The Jeep has proved over the last 20 years that mid sized off roader is not a fad. Go look at the sales of the Wrangler over the past 20 years. Now, Ford let the Bronco take a different path than it probably should of. Honestly, I wonder if the Bronco 2 wasn't such a POS if Ford what would of Ford done with the smaller truck based off roader? In my opinion, we know there is a market for this and if Ford can come up with a better mouse trap and get some of those profits I have no problem with that. Now if gas spikes to 8 bucks a gallon (looking at you Prez) in order to decrease the use of gas then all bets are off for the Bronco unless they come out with a legit normal hybrid or PHEV.
  17. Just move to China. I hear most companies allow fully remote work now days.
  18. This isn't a reach opinion. All you need to do is go to BG6, However, in this type of vehicle I don't think you can come out with 3 trims with a few options each and expect to succeed. Toyota other than the Taco really doesn't play and sell volume in this arena.
  19. This is more Baja than Ridgeline. Slightly more trucky than the Baja. Which was basically a wagon chopped with small bed. It will be interesting on how well this will sell. I could see it pulling from Suburu sales. It just has a weird Suburu vibe to me. It appears the Maverick will be more Ridgeline than Baja. I can't wait to see the two compared and if any other manufacture decides to enter in the market.
  20. I was thinking about this before I got my extended warranty. If you didn't do any damage to the engine (ie caught the coolant leakage before driving around with no coolant), would you just be able to replace the head gasket as a band aid to keep it going? I mean it wouldn't fix the root cause, but would make it drivable till the coolant ate through the gasket again.
  21. I don’t think we are defending the engineering problem that created this situation. Also, we don’t know the percentage of vehicles this truly effects. I think some of us are being real about it. The buyer knows what the warranty is. If they aren’t comfortable with it buy an extended warranty, trade it in before warranty expires, or buy something else with a longer warranty. in a perfect world Ford would cover the costs post warranty expiration. However, they are in no way required to at this point. It’s possible in the future they may but not at this point. Is it a crap sandwich? Sure but it’s the gamble you take buying a new vehicle...especially once out of warranty.
