  1. The Maverick was in no way, shape, or form a sports car. When it was introduced it was Ford’s cheapest car. It did eventually have the 302 but it still handled like the economy car that it was.
  2. When this comes out, I’m gonna buy one and chauffeur silvrsvt around Jersey in the third row.
  3. I’m sure it will, But I’m assuming Ford will replace the old 3.5 EB with the new generation 3.5 as new models are brought out.
  4. If the 3.0 will be the top engine in the Aviator, I wouldn’t think the 3.5 will be available in the Explorer.
  5. Unless the Escape is growing to Edge size, a third row would be useless. A 1.5 engine will probably be the I-3. Hopefully Ford is developing a new, I-4 or significantly enhanced 2.0 as the top engine.
  6. Read the posts, I was referring to akirbys comment that 99% of drivers would buy the Edge over the Fusion.
  7. You may be right akirby, but the ancient Fusion still outsells the Edge.
  8. I can tell you as the owner of a Fusion and an Edge that there is indeed a big difference in the way they drive, The Fusion is much more nimble and enjoyable to drive -as it should be given its lower center of gravity, much less weight, and considerably better aerodynamics. Not to mention the Fusion’s better fuel economy.
  9. My 2015 Edge with the 2.0 does hesitate on hard acceleration but I think it’s the transmission and not turbo lag.
  10. I don’t think many would characterize the 2019 Edge as a significant MCE.
  11. Regardless of who sold the most cars when GM went bankrupt, it’s ludicrous to infer that Toyota and Honda are about to go bankrupt because they sell a lot of cars.
  12. Accord is down, but still outsells every Ford nameplate with the exception of the F series pickups. So also do Civic, Camry, and Corolla. Honda and Toyota still sell a huge number of cars every month.
  13. Utilities are benefiting greatly from the economy which is better than it has been for many yers. People are able to afford more expensive vehicles which benefits the much more expensive SUV/CUV vs. the traditional sedan. It will be interesting to see if buyers gravitate to more sedans when the economy suffers the next downturn. And while the fall in Fusion/Focus sales is more than just the two being outdated, you can’t argue the fact that they are long in the tooth vs. competition which has significantly affected sales.
  14. It looks to me like Ford will have underutilized plants going forward given that almost all of these new products will be relatively low volume. The Ranger will probably be the biggest seller and if I remember correctly, Ford is only talking about 125,000 units of Ranger production. I would think if they really wanted to, Ford could squeeze 50K Focus Active from the Mexican plant.
  15. This shouldn’t be a surprise after Ford has fallen all over itself telling anyone that would listen that they aren’t making any money on cars which of course are a big chunk of their production and then decided it was wise to announce that they would be ending production of these cars months and years in advance. This of course will cost them thousands of sales. If the brass responsible for these fiascos aren’t going to be fired, maybe they should be gagged when venturing out in public.
  16. Anyone able to post links to the other Automotive News articles on Ford’d Upcoming products?
  17. To me, the 2015 Edge changes are a lot more than evolutionary compared to the 14.
  18. Little or no chance this can return Ford’s goal of 8%. It would also steal at least some more profitable Ranger sales.
  19. Hopefully the 2.0 is an improved version of the current motor. I presume the 8 speed will be the sole transmission for the non hybrids.
  20. I don’t think the assertion that the Explorer is a heavier vehicle than the Traverse is true. The Traverse is actually a bigger vehicle.
  21. I’m sure the new platform will transform the Escape - the question is will Ford include power plants that are class competitive? The 8 speed seems a sure bet and hopefully will be much better than the current 6 speed but we haven’t seen any clues yet as to upgraded power plants.
