  1. The Expedition Platinum already starts at $80k. A trim above that is still going to look and feel like a Ford. You're simply not going to get the exclusivity, refinement, and high-end design of a luxury brand.
  2. The surfacing language of that concept is very reminiscent of the 1961-1965 Continentals. It will be interesting to see how that translates into production.
  3. Lincoln has definitely made significant progress, so I hope Ford doesn't throw in the towel.
  4. Ford Authority is saying North America isn't getting the Nautilus after all. https://fordauthority.com/2023/01/next-gen-lincoln-nautilus-will-likely-remain-in-china/
  5. Some dealers are definitely skeptical of Ford's commitment to Lincoln. They were promised a full line-up initially.
  6. No way all of those are standalone. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones opting out are mostly Ford-Lincoln stores.
  7. https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1138435_more-than-one-third-of-lincoln-s-dealerships-say-no-thanks-to-brand-s-electric-future
  8. I love cars but not enough to have perpetual payments on one.
  9. You've got to be kidding me. That was an incredibly half-hearted attempt.
  10. Lexus offers an executive seating arrangement for the LX at around $125k. Ford simply does not want to take any risks with Lincoln. And it's a shame because they have the talent to pull it off.
  11. I've seen plenty of new Lincolns in the New Orleans area since the new showroom opened. Judging by their social media page, they seem to be attracting younger, more affluent clientele. I'm not sure what else Lincoln could build in a such SUV dominant marketplace. Perhaps another go at a luxury truck?
  12. Those cars are a tiny sliver of Cadillac's past. No way are they going to convince the ultra-rich to pay Bentley money from a brand that's been building mass-produced premium cars for most of its existence.
  13. I loved seeing these Marks back when I was kid. They were so unusual. Very fluid and organic like the original 1940 Continental.

  15. It's nearly impossible to build a solid case for that type of car in today's market. Even Mercedes-Benz ended up discontinuing their famed S-Class Coupe.
  16. How exciting. Another run-of-the-mill futuristic design study with [insert brand name] badges.
  17. It looks pretty svelte for a truck. I'm still not a fan of Chevy's overwrought styling, though.
  18. I'm not seeing what makes this a $300k vehicle.
  19. https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2022/06/16/ford-heritage-vault.html Ford is making more than 5,000 curated Ford and Lincoln photographs and product brochures from the first century of the company’s history available to the public online for the first time – and will continue to grow the site as new items are added The searchable collection – at https://fordheritagevault.com – spans Ford’s production history from the company’s founding in 1903 to its centennial in 2003 Historical assets are available to Ford enthusiasts as free downloads for personal use from the American-based auto industry’s most comprehensive online database, which will continue to be updated and expanded
  20. I wouldn’t say it hurts anything. It just causes unnecessary confusion and makes an iconic nameplate less sacred. The Jeep Renegade is also rugged in appearance, yet doesn’t wear the Wrangler name.
  21. Sure, but it’s still not THE Bronco. I think it can easily stand on its own without the Bronco association. The Maverick does very well without being tied to a well-known nameplate. If the product execution is superb, people will come.
  22. It didn’t help being the first to launch. I actually heard people around town saying they saw the new Bronco and how disappointed they were by it.
  23. The Bronco Sport is the true successor to the original Escape. I see them everywhere now - mostly driven by young women. I always thought ditching the Escape’s original formula in favor of a blah tall hatch look was a mistake.
