  1. Saw this at the Denver auto show today. Hadnt seen pics of this ranger yet. My impressions are it looks great in person. Im not a huge fan of chrome but the chrome package looked good on it. Was hoping to see the sport package but they didnt have it there. It definitely looks much better than the Colorado or canyon. It was much larger than I expected it to be. It seemed more substantial then the Colorado even though I think their measurements are pretty close. It sits pretty high but this was a 4x4 model. Curious as to what the ride Height will be on a 4x2. Doors were locked and it was on a stand so couldnt get any pics of the interior. The edge st looks pretty good too. I liked it a lot more in person then in the photos. Nautilus and mkc both looked good too. Nautilus obviously had the more extensive refresh. The one they had on display was a brown color. That color didnt do it any favors but it still looked good. Mkc refresh seemed like it was only the front clip that changed. if there were any changes to the rear, I couldnt tell. Non ford related, I liked the xc40 from Volvo. Being a 6 footer, I had plenty of leg room in the back seat with a 6 footer sitting in front. Seemed better than the escape, although it cost quite a bit more. New accord was nice as was the vw arteon, stinger also looked better in person too.
  2. The difference between an escape and an edge is pretty small but yet they both still exist. Theres only 4 inches difference in width and 10 in length. Id imagine you could make a truck that much smaller than the ranger and it could still sell. The market for trucks these days is completely different from when the ranger was around previously. Back then they were cheap. I dont believe they have to be cheap now. In fact you hardly see any stripped down models of vehicles any more of any kind that arent fleet. People want the bells and whistles now. Purchase prices are up and financing lengths are much longer now. I think a compact truck would be much more profitable now than previously. Trucks are more popular now. Id imagine that 90% of the houses around me have at least one full-size truck in the driveway. And these probably never get used for anything besides driving to work. What would work better for the majority of these people would be a lifestyle truck. If you are towing a boat or loading the bed with 1000 lbs of bricks, this aint the truck for you. But if you like the ride height of a truck, the utility of a truck, the seating capacity of a small suv, the gas mileage of a small suv, and something thats comfortable to drive everyday with a smaller footprint you might be interested in it. The only attempt at a life style truck that I can think of is the ridgeline. Even though it had some cool features, the design was so far off from what truck buyers want that it was doomed from the beginning. And Honda buyers probably arent truck buyers to begin with. Ford on the other hand is known for trucks and it has a loyal fan base. If they got the styling right, added some cool features like the ridgeline, I think it could do pretty well.
  3. This is supposed to share a frame with the Tucson when it goes into production. *anyone know how to post pics on the mobile site? Im trying to get large images like radicalx posts, but I always get links or attached photos instead. I tried looking at the pinned thread about posting photos but none of the links in that thread worked for me. * thanks for the help with the pic fuzzy
  4. I think to do the compact pickup and make it feasible, you only make it in 4 door and it should have a 4 ft bed with 5ft optional. Keep it about the width of an escape. This is where the designers can also go a little crazy, maybe make it similar to the Santa Cruz pickup concept from hyundai. Parking would be a breeze. Itd be able to fit in any garage, even a compact parking spot. Also they could do the composite bed like the sport trac had, but copy the Ridgelines trunk in the bed feature too.
  5. A bed the size of the sport trac would be perfect for me. Im not trying to carry 8ft pieces of plywood around, I just need something to throw the lawnmower in, or some mulch, or anything that I really wouldnt want to put inside a vehicle.
  6. With auto companies cutting back on cars and increasing SUVs and trucks, could we see the compact truck market make a comeback? Automakers have always had models of cars in all sizes, and now that is taking place in SUVs as well. To a lesser extent, its happening in the truck market. A few years ago, there were really only 3 models, Tacoma, frontier, and ridgeline. Now theres those plus the Colorado twins, and in the next few years there will be the ranger, updated frontier, Hyundai Santa Cruz, jeep truck, and vw showed the tanoak concept which I thought looked pretty good. If trucks follow the same trend as SUVs, it seems like compact trucks will be where we are headed next. Previous arguments against a compact truck were they werent profitable. I dont think thats the case anymore, everyone wants supercrews now. An F150 xl supercrew starts with an msrp of around 34k. A crewcab Colorado starts at $27k and can get into the high 40s. Id imagine the ranger will be similar in price. I think a supercrew compact truck that started around 20k for the xl model could still be profitable. Titanium or platinum models could top out around 35k. A compact truck makes more sense then say the eco sport in my opinion. It can hold the same amount of people, but would have a lot more storage room with the truck bed and they could make more money off it.
  7. Valkyrie Icon/ikon Triton Interceptor Panther Python Thunder Marauder FX Mercenary Vengeance Legion Outlaw Archon Phoenix Sentry Raven Reaper Scout Adrenaline Elite Tremor I think Ford Phoenix has a nice ring to it, and it could have a pretty cool logo too. I liked the Ford FX as well since FX is already associated with off-road within the ford family. I always liked the triton name and thought it belonged on a vehicle instead of an engine.
  8. I think if you polled most people, the first thing to come to mind about the name maverick would be top gun or the basketball team. I think its a pretty cool name and would not associate it with a cheap car at all.
  9. Havent seen those pics before. Are those real? Its different then the on posted on the first page
  10. I was thinking it looked like a mazda3 and an Alfa Romeo stelvio mixed together. Maybe its just the wheels though. http://image.trucktrend.com/f/224171258+re0+ar0+st0/2018-alfa-romeo-stelvio-side-profile-ttn-nyias.jpg
  11. That looks pretty good. Even appears to have a vista roof or whatever they are calling it these days.
  12. You are out of luck with the Colorado. It doesnt offer a moonroof either. I think youll have to go Tacoma or frontier.
  13. Honestly, for me you could make an appearance package that looks like the raptor on the regular ranger and Id be happy. I have no need for an engine larger than the 2.3, dont need the shocks and definitely wont be off roading besides the occasional hunting trip. I just like how it looks lol
  14. Conservation of speed? Show me one raptor that was made for rock crawling and going slow. The f150 raptor was designed around off road racing right? I mean why enter it in all those Baja races if you are just going to drive it slow.
  15. Was it the same two they had at naias or did they have another one? Id love to see some more real life pics of it in different models/colors
  16. Looks like the tailgate lost the RANGER on the bottom. Wish that would carry over to the regular one. Also seems strange that the dash lost the little storage compartment on the top. I guess they dont want you putting things on the dash while your jumping sand dunes or what not. The IP looks like its also the one from the escape instead of the edge. Maybe they did this for the tach? Some of the switch gear is slightly different but it looks in line with what the ROW ranger already had. The center console arm rest is also different.
  17. Turns off might have been a bad choice of words. The air is still blowing from the AC, its just not as cold.
  18. Cant tell much from the pic but the profile looks nice. Almost a Mazda CX-5 vibe to it.
  19. We have it and its annoying. When the engine stops, the AC stops and the cabin air circulation button turns off. Its annoying when sitting in traffic in 100 degree weather and your AC stops, or you are sitting behind a diesel with all of the exhaust fumes coming through the vents. Would it stop me from buying a vehicle though? No. If it was optional, would I get it? No.
  20. I always liked the lincoln navicross concept from 2003. It was basically a sedan with the ride height of an suv. Itd be cool if it turned out like that.
  21. I know many on here arent fans of the Everest but i think it looks better than any other suv/cuv ford offers right now.if the bronco ends up being too expensive, the Everest would be my second choice.is there any chance it comes to the USA?
  22. Per Wikipedia, it says the current t6 ranger has a weight of 4114 to 4339 lbs. doesnt say what engine was used in those numbers though and I have no idea what ROW ranger has any aluminum or not, but that should at least give you an idea of what we should expect.
  23. I checked out the 2018 ranger brochure from New Zealand and you are right, I didnt see a moonroof, heated steering wheel or memory anything. It did have dual climate control and heated seats(not cooled). I would think we would get what the 2018 has available interior wise since they are identical but I could be wrong. I think the 2019 lariat had a leather dash. If you look at the pics, you can see the contrast stitching on it.
