ATTENTION all NON-Ford employees

Recommended Posts

To all the NON Ford employees that come on these boards to say thank you for a quality product or to show us support in these tough times ,I would like to say thank you on behalf of all the fellow UAW members here and everywhere. YOU are the reason we bust our asses every day in tough working conditions and 110 degree heat . We know you have many choices when it comes to spending your hard earned money, but you choose us. So thank you all sincerely......

BUT HOLD ON ! To all you other lil pot stirring trolls that come on these boards and talk shit about the UAW,Ford or our dedication to quality I say to you KISS OUR ASS ! (Sorry,no verbal abuse allowed so I toned it down)

Why ? Its simple. I consistently see people who do not identify their own line of work come up here and degrade and trash talk what we do,what we are paid and how bad our product is. In the meanwhile ,you hide behind the cloak of anonymity and talk about " Oh my Toyota/Honda never gave me any problems ,but my F-WHATEVER has been in the shop 498,078 times !" BULLSHIT.

Its called the luck of the draw people. ALL auto makers have quality and production problems. ALL OF THEM ! Yet instead of doing any intelligent research on the publicly available data ,you cry about how your gweebo disc flew off your truck while you were trying to pull wifes Honda out of a ditch.

Before you trash talk us or our membership, how about identifying what you do ,and where you do it ? I mean its only fair. The UAW and Fords info are readily available on the net and in the news,so its no secret whats going on with us. Or are you afraid that you might not like what you hear in return ?

Yeah its real easy to sit there and talk shit about us and Ford, and praise your neighbors, former best friends 3rd cousins 1994 Honda Accord ,because Im sure you know every single item in the cars maintenance log. All Im saying is that before anyone else says "its a free country ,people can buy what they want, and domestics have more quality problems" ,tell us a little bit about yourself. Because that freedom bell is ringing on deaf ears . The domestic automotive industry has been a beacon for freedom of choice and American values before any of us were born. So save that shit for your Japanese employer.

We are all out in the open as UAW members,so lets make this a fair game. Otherwise, drive your Toyonda straight to hell.

very well said.....now if only the media would give domestic automakers a fair shake and report all the crap the Japanese put out, maybe people will start to see we compare and exceed with our products.

I'm a systems engineer for a marketing firm with an office in detroit. I've owned an f150, 2 escorts and then a '99 taurus wagon that I still have, all were bought new. I really like the ride of my Taurus but I have had to put a LOT of coin into keeping it on the road. Front bearing(felt like the front tires were worn down to the belts), entire power steering system, ABS sensors (but I still have the warning light on ninty percent of the time), rebuilt tranny 1000 miles ago, too many front rotors to count now, both tie rods and ball joints, and some more that I can't remember now. It now has 126,000 miles on it and I'll drive it until 150,000 and then hope the dealer will take it off my hands when I get a new car. I'll most likely get another ford because that's all I've ever driven. I'll probably get one of the AWD vehicles. My wife has a subaru forester with 60,000 miles on it and hasn't even had to have the breaks done yet. I'm shocked that other then keeping up on the maintainence I haven't had to do anything to that car. The breaks are what shocks the shit out of me as my fords go through pads and rotors like a fat kid goes through ice cream. If this was my first Ford I would not be a repeat customer, but I'm not going to give up on the blue oval just yet.

I have worked for 2 Ford suppliers before but not directly for Ford. It still pains me to see so many good people loose their jobs due to bad management. I know how it goes, you try to do your best and make quality products but when you boss says "Screw it, send it out!" there isn't much you can do.

I hope Ford turns around so you can feel confident again.

Good luck to all and God Bless.

As an Engineer you should know that the difference in weight of said vehicles will cause the wear on the brakes to differ greatly. I wish I had an answer for the other problems but I don't and apologize for the poor parts installed on your vehicle.

Unfortunately denying Ford quality has a perception problem is not going to change anything. Reality is that Ford is loosing market share at a record pace. Cussing out a potential customer is not going to solve anything. There are a lot of angry people out there that felt they were sold lemons. Sometimes they just need to vent. A kind ear can sometime diffuse the situation as opposed to implying they are the ones at fault.

Don't confuse a "system engineer" for a real engineer. It's just a title they started handing out to us senior network administrators when they ran out of other acronyms to call us. I realize the weight plays a roll in the rotor/pad wear but you wouldn't expect you would need new rotors every other brake job. They usually grind them down on the brake job in between. At least on the wagon they start pulsating after like 10k. As far as the rest of the parts go, they are bought and paid for so it's water under the bridge now, and I do like the ride of the taurus wagon. It's heavy too and I like that also. Trannies go too but I probably should have gotten rid of it then but I always like to drive my cars into the dealer when I'm getting rid of them. Plus my escorts were the greatest cheap cars ever made. They came loaded (for a cheap car anyway) and ran maintainence free for 120000 plus miles.

I may piss and moan at you guys but you won't see ME driving around in anything but a Ford.

Quote

This quote has always summed it up for me since I heard it back in the early 90’s.

The set up: its turn of the century America and a young man barely more than a boy is speaking up to his cruel fat-cat boss/plant owner.

“You can't treat the working man this way! One of these days we'll form a union, and get the fair and equitable treatment we deserve! Then we'll go too far, and become corrupt and shiftless, and the Japanese will eat us alive”!

Man that is stupid.

And you say this quote has always summed it up for you?

If you heard it in the early 1990's and the setup is the turn of the century then you are talking about an event around the year 1900.

That was the very beginning of the auto industry and industrial age.

Japan was still isolationist and pre-industurial, simply put they were unknown.

At that time England had not yet brought technical and industural knowledge to Japan...you do know that's why Japanese cars are right hand drive right? Even Japan's first modern naval warships of the were built under contract by England.

Your quote is just more anti-American bullshit, it seems Japanese propoganda is working, it just had to wait for a weak-minded generation of Americans to come along to be effective. Unfortunately too many Americans today think like that, often they were born and raised here, live and work here, and enjoy all that America offers yet they will not support other Americans and seem to actually hate their fellow countrymen.

Since your quote blames the union (UAW) in these tough times, why didn't the union get all of the credit when Ford was earning record profits in the '90s?

I am not a UAW member, and I do not work for Ford although members of the family have. I work at a dealership.

this reminds me of a conversation i had with one of my kids teachers not long ago. and it wasnt a friendly one. my daughter came home one day and said her teacher told the class that import cars are better than american cars. so i felt i needed to talk to him, the principal and the school board. i was quite angry. and it was only months after they announced tcap was closing.

he stated that cars made in japan were better than cars made in the united states. he also went on to say that toyota made more profit and higher quality because they did not have the union to contend with. and he was goint to be a toyota man for life. his toyota had no problems ever.

i asked him what he drove. his reply "I drive a 1999 toyota corolla"

you should have seen the look on his face when i told him it was a UAW product made in the united states.

Let's not forget folks that in Japan the standard of living sucks compared to here. They hold back competition so the prices are very high for everthing. The average Japanese does not live close to as well as the average American. Housing all the way down to a watermellon cost much, much, more then they cost here. Their economy has been in the toilet since the real estate bubble burst in the early '90s. You can't have a closed economy like they do and keep prices down at the same time.

Well then, Thank You for a quality product! My Escape is 1 year old now, and came from Kentucky. I think this was the first new vehicle I've had that didn't require a breaker bar to remove the factory oil filter. I'm curious where the 2.3L engine was made, as well.

I'm wishing you the best for your future. I'm concerned because someday soon, the Saudis will be pumping oil as fast as they can and still not meet demand. Putin won't help, he'll just laugh all the way to the bank. The resulting high prices (ie higher than now), are going to be like the oil shocks of the 70's, which took over a decade to sort out.

I do have some hope. I've noticed that the '08 Escapes have the 2.3l available on all models. Now for a 6-speed or CVT...
