Obama

He is not a Muslim, not that it should matter. He is a christian http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...7112802757.html

He has 11 years of legislative experience, he is a change. He doesn't stand for the same old politics, Republicans from Illinois like him because he made a real effort to reach across the aisle. The bottom line is the next president will have to do that to find solutions to our problems. Hillary can't do that, and it is doubtful Mccain can either.

Nonetheless if you are going to talk politics try to get your facts straight.

Watch out what you wish for. Obama talks about change, but doesn't really say in specifics what he will change other than probably redistribute wealth. All we know about Obama is that the ultra liberal wing of the Democratic Party supports him. I'm sure he will try to sound like a moderate as Bush did before he got in, and then became something else. It sure doesn't look like Hillary is going to be able to define him as she hasn't so far. If he becomes nominee, then McCain will have to define him so that we have some idea about what he truly is about other than 100% support from Black Americans. I'm sure McCain will make Obama declare exactly how he is going to get us out of the deep mud called Iraq without causing more problems in region and eventually Afghanistan that potentially could be much worse than Iraq over time. Lot to ask of rookie senator who seems to be arrogant to boot.

Secondly, the Unions whose jobs are being gutted are backing Barack because they believe he'll work hardest to improve our american workers' situation and our economy.

In the auto industry, union jobs are being "gutted" because said unions teamed up with management to produce some real garbage over the past 30+ years and Americans decided to buy vehicles from other companies...I guess Obama's team will be working at GM, Ford and Chrysler to make sure that vehicles don't catch on fire because of defective fuses, spit out spark plugs, dump their trannies at 50,000 miles or crack their intake manifold gaskets after the warranty ends.

Who knew?

Wonder how his team will have the time to actually run the country.

Will he also be helping Toyota and Honda with oil sludged engines, tin foil tailgates, doors falling off minivans, bad trans and defective ignitions on Honda vehicles, and a myriad of other problems?

Nope, because: a. they move faster to correct problems such as this, and b. their problems have been much less widespread throughout the lineup.

Go out into the real world (i.e, the world outside of pro-domestic forums such as this) and talk to real mechanics and people who deal with thousands of vehicles at auctions...the superior quality of Honda and Toyota is real, it's not a myth or the creation of Consumer Reports.

The domestics are getting much better (at least, Ford and GM are, not so much Chrysler), but 30+ years of baggage aren't going to be thrown overboard by one or two years of good survey results. Obama isn't going to change that, no matter what he promises in the heat of the campaign.

So Toyota has issued a recall on their 4 cyl and 6 cylinder sludge factory motors? Please direct me to a link referencing that recall campaign please. While you're at it, direct me to the recall for Honda's automatic transmissions that nuked themselves. They would cover at least a million vehicles each, but I guess that's not widespread.

Funny that's how I would describe the management bueracray, they have shipped so many jobs over seas to increase profit margins that the have unemployed the market they sell to. And then they wounder why their products aren't selling! :finger: And I don't limit this comment to the auto industry! Edited by Furious1Auto

Exactly!

Talking about "change?" Change for what? ... a dollar!

Why support a guy who stands for nothing and doesn't even mention what he is going to exactly do over there to begin with.

Ann Coulter is right when she calls him B. HUSSEIN OBAMA and in fact that's what I'll start calling him too!

Hussein... :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical: Anybody who votes for this guy is an absolute jackass!

Oh I get it now it's funny because he is black. See I didn't really get what you were trying to say, but obviously since he is black he knows gang members and pimps. I mean he only went to Harvard after being raised by a single mother, and then gave up a lucrative job to do organizing in a community devastated by steel plant closings, but hey since he is black we should marginalize and insult him rather than talk about his real stance on issues.

Let me ask everyone a question, have you ever listened to an entire Obama speech? I have and it has just as much rhetoric as it does solid policy proposals. Listen to Hillary or Senator Mccain and it is no different. Go to his website and he has detailed policy proposals for each issue he talks about. His healthcare plan is almost 30 pages long, is that not specific enough for anyone?

My fault though, I seem to have forgotten again for a second he was black, so I can't support him cause obviously he loves terrorists and only likes black people, and since he was overseas for a few years he is probably a muslim or a terrorist. Do any of you actually visit the campaigns websites and read their real plans or do you just regurgitate what some talk show host or media outlet tells you, because I have been to Senators Clinton, Obama, and Mccains websites to read their actual plans, and trust me Obama has plenty of substance to back up his message.

Yeah, that would be a good question to ask and speculate about. What would an Obama cabinet look like? Who would be on it. How many ultra liberal blacks and whites? Any moderates? I notice he is running around talking like he is frontrunner now and concentrating rhetoric on McCain instead of Hillary. That could be mistake since game is not over until last out.

If Hillary got in, there is strong speculation in MI that Gov. Jennifer Granholm would get a cabinet post. Would Teddy and Oprah get one in Obama Presidency? Now that would be scary.

Looks to me like blacks would be big winners in Obama Presidency and Hispanics would be big losers. I also think Domestic Auto Industy will be big loser in Obama Presidency. I don't see any empathy from ILL senator about state of Domestic Auto Industry.

Also someone from ILL posted about how most Republicans in ILL support Obama. The Republicans I know in ILL would never support any Democrat let alone a very liberal one. Maybe Chicago Republicans, but not the rest of ILL outside of Cook County.

No, but I viewed his voting record and IT SCARES ME!

By the way... You missed my point. The issue here is that YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HE'LL DO. That's my fear.

Hmmm...if they unemployed the market they sell to, wouldn't the entire automotive industry be in trouble, not just the domestics? People can obviously still afford cars. They buy millions of them a year...just not as often from the Big 3 as they used to.

Huh, look at the American population as a whole, every year the population grows. But the new car market is not expanding at the same rate, it is actually falling off. So we are selling less per capita than we did even 4 years ago, and even more significantly 20 years ago! This trend willl continue as the prices increase. Then you will see all automakers reducing capacity in the U.S. and investing more heavily in foreign markets to try to maintain the same volume or hopefully show growth!

You're worried about the fact that you don't know what he'll do. Well, he doesn't know, and neither do the other 2, because nobody knows what they CAN do, until the election is over and the Congressional make-up is determined. Then we'll have an idea of what kind of legislation can make through the process into law of the land.

What is most disturbing is the complete lack of concern with the damage done to US relationships with the rest of the world over the treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo. The legal process there is a ghastly joke that is an advertising poster for jihadists world-wide, but the Coulters and Limbaughs just don't get it.

When you tally up the Constitutional abuses of the Bush administration, I can't wait for the trials to begin.

I would think so, except I live in an impoverished area and many here would love to own a new can but simply cannot afford them! I mean it's not that there is no demand for them, but rather many potential customers lack the financing and income to support the payment.

I am not sure I would use Ann Coulter to help prove any points. She makes some good points, but she also is a bit of a bigot herself. Particularly, I was not too impressed by her gay slur.

That's not true. The traditional domestic buyer is not in the market for a new car and has been out for quite some time now. Back in 90's when there were about 30 million less people, we had more new car sales than today with many more people. More and more people are looking at used cars instead of new cars. The foreign car buyer may still be in the market, but the domestic buyer is holding onto car they have or buying used. I'm a domestic car buyer, and normally I would be on my second new car since 2002, but instead I'm still driving my 2002 model. I sensed that the economy was getting worse under Bush, and decided to live without car payments until that dude is long gone.

Hey, if Obama is a Cook County Democrat, we will be in a world of hurt if the gets in White House. Obama is no Reaganite, that's for sure. I doubt if he ever met a tax he didn't like. If Obama does make it to White House which I doubt, I sure hope the Congress is Republican to check him. Checks and balances is the only way to keep this country on even keel. Certainly it will take bipartisanship to solve Social Secrurity, Medicare, spiraling health care costs, and many other issues, but we need our checks and balances.

Who is talking about him being Black? Other than you?

Obama's mother was White, his Father Black (Kenya). So he can choose to consider himself Black, White, or just Human. The church he chose tells me a bit about him and what he is. Looks to be a racially directed and exclusionary church if this is in fact his church.

http://www.tucc.org/home.htm

My real concerns are his Experience and failure to sell anything substantial. The dems made fun of Quayle because he was only a 2 term senator and they attacked him for it wondering how he could have the audacity to run for VP. And now they back a 1/2 term senator? Further, a lot of what he does sell is him policing his policy's personal like. He sounds like someone that wants to regulate everything and get all up in your business. He will have to build a new branch of the government for all the policing of policy and regulation that he talks about. That wont be cheep.

No body really knows much about him. He is too young, too new, too lacking in substance. We know what to expect from Clinton, Mccain, etc.

Peace and Blessings

maybe..however people are keeping cars longer with the help of better maintenance...snap on stock is going up (ay up) due to people keeping cars longer and performing routine maintenance

Sad isn't it. I hope the dude wins he can't be any worse than the current twat who the entire world hates by the way.

Great...Bush runs as moderate and says he is not nation builder, and turns out to be big spender, very conservative in social views and action, and nation builder of highest order. Now we have another inexperienced guy who has never run anything let alone a big state government, and he is going to bring fiscal sanity and get us out of Iraq and keep that region safe? Why don't we just take some low level Ford manager and make him CEO of Ford while we are at it. Bill Clinton may be an asshole, but he did run this country for 8 years and it wasn't as f--ked up as it is now. Electing Obama President is one, huge gamble. And it will take four long years to get him out if the screws up and makes things worse. I personally am not willing to take the chance.
