I am a proud union republician, and I will tell you why Im voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. I offer my thoughts on this subject with the hope that democrats will reply to my post with the same respect I extend to you as a fellow union member. I will offer you several reasons why Im voting for McCain/Palin:

 

-McCain served, and retired from the military. He understands how the military works.

-I believe we will be attacked again. Regardless of who wins the election, some terriorist will try to test the new president. McCain will be stronger in responding to an attack.

-We need oil. Its that simple. Im all for new energy sources, but until we perfect new technology, drilling for our own oil is the short term answer. McCains for drilling, Obama is not for drilling.

-McCain is pro second amendment. This issue is near and dear to me. If we ever lose the second amendment, then we will surely lose our other freedoms. I know several members of the NRA who do not even own guns, but they value the Bill of Rights.

-McCain is a straight talker. He will tell us the way it is, and not try to dance around the tough questions. (recall Obama's reply about the issue being above his pay grade)

 

These are just a few of my opinions on this election. Please keep in mind that as a union, we are about half republicians, and half democrats. I believe that the union should be neutral on politics. If they want to donate money to a canidate, then they should ask our permission to do so. After all, it is our money they are giving away. I welcome any replys to my post.

The big three are on the brink of going bankrupt mainly due to the increase in oil prices. The economic problems the country faces are mainly due to the same reason. We are held captive by countries that hate us and now OPEC is talking about cutting back supplies because the barrel price of oil is nearing $100. This should wake everyone up. As a nation we have been blessed with so many energy resources that we do not need to depend on anyone. When you combine our reserves of oil(which need to be drilled for), coal, oil shale, natural gas, nuclear and renewable sources we do not need anyone else and could be in total control of our energy needs. In order to utilize these sources we need an administration and Congress that will put America first and not bow down to environmental extremists. It was a breath of fresh air to hear Palin say if elected they would begin in January to build new pipelines, drill, etc. We can only get good contracts if the company is making money and they never will with a continuing of high oil and gas prices. Obama will continue to bow down to the extremists and I do not believe McCain will. I also believe that our national security has to be our utmost priority as a country and I trust our security to McCain much more in this area tan Obama.

Happy LABOR day to all. YES, this day was brought to you all by the UNION'S, no matter which one. Thank the former and currect LABOR leaders of our country for getting and upholding this day. It's the end of the summer and the start of the election season. It's time to hold our elected officials in public office responsible for the shape our country is in. No, this isnt a Ron Paul or Hillary Clinton speech.

 

How will this election affect the UAW or any Union?

 

The Democrats are for the Employees Free Choice Act and the Republicans are staunchly against it! Why is this important? It will give the employees of an un-organized - non-union shop the clear and free choice to organize without interference from the company. Currently, if a group of people want to organize a Union, they have to have 30% of the employees sign cards for an election. Whats wrong with the election process? It is tainted and always 99% of the time held on company property. How is it tainted? The company owns the building and can preach, hand out flyers, have closed door and one-on-one meeting with prospected employees that might vote for the Union any time they want. They tell the employees that you will strike and your family will starve and you will loose your home or they will just close the business (all are illegal). The Union doesnt have a person, other than the organizing committee on lunch and break times to get the other side of the story out there. Not an equal playing field!

 

Why vote with your wallet instead of special interest?

 

You wallet is what the Republicans want, or the contents there of. They want you to fully fund your health care, take your social security and flood the market with the monies and play the stock market. We've all seen what this past year has gotten us in the stock market! They want all Union's busted and for you to work for pennies instead of dollars per hour. Actually, they want you to be a 1099 sub-contractor so you have to totally fend for yourself. The Republicans let the credit card companies re-write bankruptcy laws, but you see where that has gotten them also. The Republican preach about the Democrats wanting to take the guns away. WRONG! They want gun control. Yes, criminals will get guns, laws or no laws, but there is no reason in the world for a hunter out there hunting deer to need an AK-47. And yes, I know what I'm talking about! These guns get into the hands of radicals and into the cities and thats how the criminals gets them. YES, Thats how they get them! The abortion issue was settled 35 years ago but the Republicans wont let it rest. It will always be legal. Time to quit wasting money and time with that issue. They have tried time after time to stack the Supreme court deck to no avail. Republican are not your friends, they act like they are to get to your wallet!

I'll tell you what, lets do an experiment. Since you folks think that we need to do away with healthcare altogether and pay our own way so the prices will go down. Lets all renounce our insurance and see what happens........... You first.

I for one do not know these people personally, but I have seen my fair share of them in the lines at the grocery store. Something is wrong when a couple is walking through the store each pushing a cart and when they get to check out one cart is paid for with food stamps and the other cart (which is loaded with liquor, expensive meats, and all sorts of junk food) is paid with a big fat wad of cash that theypulled out of their pocket. I personally take offense to this. And as far as screwing the system, we have our own people in the plants that ride the medical system as long as possible (mostly because they are too lazy to come to work and protect their jobs). These cases are like any other case, all it takes is a few bad apples and the whole process is bastardized and screwed up for the ligitimate cases. Another good case is the calendar program for scheduled days off. The constant AWOLS screw the people who come to work everyday.

But the same people that say he is the worst president on earth past , present or future have a hard time explaining why the congressional approval rating is at a historic low and much lower than the presidents or any other president in history for that matter.

Reid and Pelose want to help out the AUTO INDUSTRY. With what low cost loans? To the company? They could help out the auto industry by letting us drill off-shore for oil to increase the world supply which would lower the demand which lowers the price. Simple economics.

Sorry your misinformed speculation is the only reason gas $4.00 a gallon, congress says they are going to go after speculators betting on oil futures and oil goes down $40 dollars a barrel in less then 2 months. Even after we shut down all oil rigs in the gulf because of the hurricanes and there still not up and running and we have a draw on oil reserves every week since they said they were going after these hedge funds.If you want to come at me get your facts straight,only people that use oil should be allowed in the market to hedge against there position this is how it has been for the last 50 years until the GOD DAMN REPUBLICANS WANTED TO DEREGULATE EVERYTHING IN THE MARKET.
