Hey, if people are happy driving little more than a motorized shopping trolley in amongst

tractor trailers, F Trucks and SUVs that fill US highways, good luck to them.

They're trying to do a Smart on the cheap, you can't do that without compromising your buyers' safety.

It won't be cheap when they have to redesign the whole thing to meet U.S. emission and crash standards.

bingo....and the additional weight will hurt ANY mileage or acceleration....will probably end up making the Smart feel like a Lambo.

You won't catch me in one. A Focus is about is small a car as I care to drive. I'm going to check out the Fiesta but I'm pretty sure that it'll be too small for my tastes as well.

Fiesta is about Escort size, Americans are accommodating people but

expecting them to drive even smaller cars is unrealistic.

I think Tata is living in Bollywoodland.

I think you're right. Otherwise Smart would be doing better.

the smart is just another novelty...its "fad" will die a slow death, aftert all there are way better alternatives out there...but some just love a car that screams 'Look at me"....

Actually.....I just read a new press release about the US Nano.

It mentioned that in order to maintain it's low price-point, they would make a few changes to the Nano for US consumption. The changes will also take care of emissions certification issues......
