Photos Ford Fiesta Being Built in Mexico

Recommended Posts

Just a couple days ago I was complaining about apparent delays in Fiesta production, but these photos make me feel much better. Things are clearly moving forward:

It's in Spanish, but it says production will start in first quarter (Ford keeps saying second quarter) and 180,000 units will be produced next year.

What is shown in the second picture? It appears to be the rear sheet metal of something (there appear to be tail light cutouts on each side, and a license plate depression in the middle), but the tail light shapes do not match up at all with the Fiesta. Could this be another model for the plant?

Cmon first quarter start date! That would be a pleasant surprise...

I would say there's a good chance they'll start building them then, but won't start shipping U.S.-spec models until summer. It would give them a few months to get all the kinks out of the full-speed assembly process without impacting their most important market. Remember, this plant isn't building Fiestas only for the USA and Canada.

I was wondering the same thing. I am guessing it is the trunk lift as opposed to the other pics of the fenders.

Did ya'll notice the Toyota sports car? Not too shabby looking.

Maybe Toyota wants something to compete with the Mustang?

The Toyota looks more like a competitor for the Hyundai Genesis coupe - it just doesn't have the history imbued in the Mustang. Not to mention it won't be available with a V8.

Those are tryout vehicles put in body gauges to check the dimensions along the body assembly line.

The show vehicles are built by hand, and probably already done.

Henry Ford would have built all his cars in the USA. Even if he had to start nonunion plants.

Why can't we build a small car in the USA???? Is it the stupid regulations or the high labor

costs. You could find people who would work if you pay $15 an hour forever in this country.

Ford built it here or be part of the American decline.

Do we need to go off topic on this in every Fiesta thread? No. We don't. And we won't.

I don't think so, the hatchback has its tail lights up on the D pillars. And, it doesn't look like the sedan, which has much different tail light cutouts than this.

How does it not look like the Fiesta's trunk lid.....they even give a picture of the ROW Fiesta that show the same taillight shape...

from what i see, i think it will look really good!

Do we know what models we will be getting? do we know mpg?

Models: all we know for sure is the 5-door hatch and sedan. There's been rumors of the 3-door too, but nothing for sure.

MPGs: I've got no idea.

And here's the front:

You'll notice that the grille is not the 3-bar chrome piece we expected but a simple black trapezoid with a Ford logo floating on a thin bar in the middle.

The headlight optics have a much sharper look to them, but the fit the same opening. There's a chrome insert on each side of the lower intake resembling the Verve concept.

Hatchback rear detail: http://imagenes.autocosmos.com/contenidos/...07081128752.jpg

Note that the white inserts are gone from the taillights.

High cost of healthcare. I don't think they have to pay enormous sums healthcare for the employees and the retirees in Mexico, if only someone could do something about it in the US.

Take note that the schedule detailing robots shows a body framer capable of up to 6 models.....

Thanks for the info, I learn something new everytime I visit BON forums. :)

Does Ford normally allow photos like this to be released to the media so far in advance of the car's debut?
