chiefstang
Anyone who's installed aftermarket LED light kits before is aware that they don't melt snow due to not generating heat. While this isn't an issue so much with an offroad accessory, how will the new F-150 fare with it's new headlights? Sorry if this has been discussed, but I had a customer ask and didn't know the answer... Edited November 12, 2014 by chiefstang
jasonj80
I've had a few cars with HID's and they have the same problem, you just need to clean them off which you should do to all cars. Last winter even the regular ones in my truck wouldn't always melt the ice and snow. The European Lighting Standard states that if a car has LED or HID they need to have washers for this reason. silvrsvt
I'm assuming this is part of the reason why the DOT doesn't approve of LED style lighting.

What do you mean they don't approve of it? If they didn't approve, it couldn't be released on vehicles, right?

I know this is a lot of conversity with the DOT not approving certain types of lighting for US Vehicles for some reason or another.
