fuzzymoomoo
Cool story. 17 MPG on a Model T! Was anyone else surprised by that?
fordmantpw
Cool story. 17 MPG on a Model T! Was anyone else surprised by that? Well, no emissions, a super-light vehicle, narrow tires, low speed/little wind resistance, no power anything, no safety equipment, 0-60 in never, etc. Amazing what a difference all that stuff makes on fuel economy. At any rate, a good read. Edited July 13, 2015 by fordmantpw

SoonerLS
Yeah, it's easy to forget all of that. I was always under the impression that early gasoline engines weren't terribly efficient. They weren't, but ol' Edsel wasn't asking much of it. Put it under a load, and you have a whole 'nother story. I have/use several old Ford tractors, and their burn rates are significantly higher when running under load.
