rmc523
I like how we have the production grille surround picture, and they still get it wrong.
blksn8k2
You're right but it's not far off. It just needs to be a little more upright on the outside edges.
blksn8k2
Based on the F-150, it's also possible that the Ranger Raptor may not get the same grille as other Ranger models... One other thing to consider, if they based this render on the Raptor video from Ford which was supposedly of the 2018 Ranger Raptor for other markets, that doesn't mean we will get the same styling if and when a Raptor version makes it to the US market. jpd80
Storm Accessories already makes that grille for the Ranger... Edited November 20, 2017 by jpd80
Ogre
Please, Ford - make this a reality so I can give you my hard-earned money.
blksn8k2
Storm Accessories already makes that grille for the Ranger... That's close but that one goes down and becomes part of the bumper cover, similar to the last gen Sport Trac. The one on the render does not. jpd80
Yeah, that's the existing model but agree the new Raptor appears to have that CGI grill opening as seen in the Ford Aus video, albeit lightly concealed. PS, Rumor is that HSV, Holden's performance associates in Australia are releasing a 3.6 TTV6 Colorado next year. the engine is borrowed directly from Cadillac so probably the 450 HP engine..... in response to Ranger Raptor? Dang! I would have been happy just to see the 2.7EB in the Ranger. If that rumor is true and also applies to the US spec ZR2 then the Raptor version might need to get a 3.5EB. As I have said before, I would also be happy with a 2.7EB in an FX4 version with a more conventional suspension. The Raptor would probably be overkill for my needs. What I wouldnt do is copy Chevrolet and their strategy. However, I suppose you could argue they are copying Chevy by bringing the Ranger back. One could also argue that we wouldn't even be getting the Ranger if it wasn't for GM.

blksn8k2
Anyone know if the current T6 has fully boxed frame rails? I have seen mention that that would be an upgrade on a Raptor version. Is that possible or do all Rangers already come that way?

Is that possible or do all Rangers already come that way? I can't see them doing a fully-boxed frame for just one low-volume variant; that just doesn't make any economic sense. Unless it's part of the evolution of the T6 architecture.

SoonerLS
Unless it's part of the evolution of the T6 architecture. Even then it would make more sense to do it for all of the Rangers made in the plant, not just the Raptor version. From jpd's picture, though, it looks like T6 uses fully-boxed frame rails, so it's a moot point.
