  1. FDBN shows order banks opening for 2023.5 May 5 with a Cold weather package, Body Colored Steel roof. Farley has giving numerous interviews about cost cutting and complexity cutting around electrics even back when the Mach-E was launched they already had planned streamlining of parts for 2022, 2023, 2024 model years. Also to note there isn't anything that is actually a .5 model year they are still technically a 2023 model year but when manufactures call something a .5 model year it is because of some significant running upgrades.

  4. Body 2 will be converted into the battery pack plant. Then body 2 and body 3 which is in the mainplant will all consolidate within Body 1 which is part of the old Ontario truck plant.

  5. No, thank you rperez817 for posting the information more clearly than I did. We had an idea that we were gonna retool early 2024 but now we now it’s 2nd quarter OFFICIALLY. The funny thing is when we ratified the original contract they said the Nautilus would go first and then we would just build AWD Edge til April 2024. Now it’s official and I believe the Nautilus will be going roughly same time as the Edge. They won’t be telling us anything more details til the contract in the fall gets ratified I believe. They won’t even tell us it Explorer/Aviator GT EV yet. I’ve been seeing contractors at the plant with blueprints and walking around so it’s slowly starting. All the old flex and mkt machinery is blocked off and they will be removing them soon. So this just means they’ll run 2023 model year into 2024 or there will actually be a 2024 model year Edge Nautilus before retool.

  6. I'm pushing for them to push it on us. It's like when they pushed seatbelts on us, I think its in our best interest to do so!

  7. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/us-proposes-slash-ev-mileage-ratings-meet-fuel-economy-rules-2023-04-11/ This would basically push Hybrids/PHEV out of the market, because their fuel usage ratings are too high vs what they actually do and actually show how inefficient larger BEVs like the Hummer and Lightning can be.

  9. I'm afraid you have let the cat out of the bag. Paccar today is at 72 bucks. But once word gets out that Paccar has recognized that millennials are the new market and the likes of Tesla and Nikola will dominate class 8's leaving the scraps to the likes of Freightliner and Volvo, the stock will take off. Rumor has it that Jac the Knife is now on Paccar's board and has convinced them that the magic he worked at Ford by giving away the class 8 business will work as well at Paccar. Just as the millennials are now clothing themselves in Carhartt garb, a Pete or Kw emblem will elevate their stature when they drive their class 4 pickup to the stable, or "club"- be it yacht or golf.? By the way, my Carhartt vests, jackets, coveralls are so tattered after countless washings that don't get the oil and grease stains out, to say nothing of the holes associated with careless chain saw use, I could probably sell everything for a good buck. Look at the success of the jean market with the ripped -tattered look!

  10. From a pollution and fuel economy standpoint, yes...not to mention unleaded gas and EFI also allowed huge improvement in performance and gas economy in cars. Most small CUVs with a Turbo 2L I4 are as fast as muscle cars in the 1/4 mile from the late 1960s. Or how about this...why isn't there more Diesel engines then Gas engines in light duty vehicles? Because it's either too hard or too expensive to make them work in the current framework of emissions regulation, even though they technically get better gas mileage (without the additional pollution controls) The biggest issue with EV vs Gas is range and cost. Range isn't an issue for the most part if you can charge at home or don't drive extended distances in a single day. Cost will come as battery production is increased and different materials come into play. The best way I can put this is the adoption of Cell phones and them replacing landlines. You got affordable options for a cell phone in the late 1990s, even though they where more expensive than a landline. Cell coverage was spotty at best at the start and you had other issues. About 25 years later I have a handheld PC that I can talk on and can get download speeds that are faster than some peoples' broadband options at home for roughly the same price in service. We are at the flip cell phone with a built in keyboard stage when it comes to BEVs. In the next 10 years, things will be completely different.

  12. Thanks for the info, it will likely be similar but I can see a lot of training going on in here because of the whole EV thing but I do believe leaders and utilities will be back earlier. That’s usually how it works during a retooling.

  13. I agree that would be a good idea if they do a last year special edition. I guess in terms of working during the retooling they will let us know the deal after contract. They will probably canvass based on seniority or it may be leaders and absentee allowance who get called in during the retooling.

  14. That is due to the way the law is written...they can't change the standard (easily I guess) that they used in 1978 or whenever CAFE came into being...the window sticker ratings have changed a few times since then.

  15. Not to be the tow police but you’re already over weight before you even hook up that RV by 166 lbs. Payload is the most limiting factor when towing. You will hit that limit well before you hit any of the others. If that pin weight is a “dry” pin weight then it’s only going to get worse weight wise. 5th wheels have a majority of there weight in front of the axles. That’s where all your storage is located. Most full time, four season campers have a dry pin weight of 18%- 21%. Now start adding full 30 gallon propane tanks and loading up your storage and camper and now your pin weight goes up. You might be able to offset it if your fresh water tank is behind the axles by adding water to it. But now your rolling the dice. Will the truck tow it? Sure. But is it safe and legal? If considering a new truck skip the SRW models and get a F350 dually and never look back. Here is a couple of links to tow calculators that are easy to use and probably answer many questions you have. http://www.towingplanner.com/Estimators/TonguePinWeightFromDry/?dt=2435&dw=12168&lw=13668 https://rvingzone.com/towing-calculator/

  17. Thanks BL. My 2023 Navigator just started doing it this weekend. I thought it was very odd that it just started happening for no apparent reason. Maybe a software update messed it up? Glad to hear they're aware and working on a fix...

  20. If you're going to read it that way, then reading your post to say that everybody wants them is equally valid, although common sense would tell you that neither of those interpretations are accurate.

  21. I should also have mentioned that you need to manage the pin weight percentage of gross trailer weight. While you can reduce the pin weight by loading stuff behind the axles, you should ensure you still have 20 - 25% of the trailer's total weight on the pin for stability in towing.

  22. May I suggest taking your truck to the scales without any trailer, but with full fuel and pax. You will receive a total weight and weight on each axle. Based on the sticker on the door frame, which has the max load on each axle, GVWR and payload, compare the numbers you received from the scales. You will know the actual weight (payload) you can add to your truck to stay within the GVWR. Based on a pin weight of 2,709 lbs you will probably exceed this by over 200 lbs. Compare the max rear axle rating and the actual rear axle load from the scales, as this is the maximum load you can add to the rear axle. As a 5th wheel hitch is over the rear axle, the pin weight goes onto the rear axle. I expect you will probably exceed this by a few hundred pounds. Note - is the hitch weight (pin weight) the 5th wheel's OEM posted weight, as new, or an actual pin weight once loaded. You can increase/decrease the pin weight by loading, as you will most likely add 2,000 + lbs of personal effects. When loaded fwd of the axles the pin weight increases, when loaded aft of the axles the pin weight is reduced. You also need to consider the location of your tanks, unless you will only travel with empty tanks. On our 5th wheel, filling the FW tank adds 800 lbs to the pin weight. I started pulling our 41' 5th wheel with a F-350 SRW. I had to limit the trailer's weight to 15,500 lbs and the pin weight to 3,050 lbs, to remain legal. I'll suggest you probably require a F-350 for that 5th wheel and to remain legal. Now with a F-450, I can load to 16,500 lbs and can have the pin weight up to 4,500 lbs. Many post they routinely tow above the truck's rating, and have no issues. However, if we are over the limits, our insurance is voided and the local commercial inspectors can pull us over and use their portable scales. While the probability is low, the possibility is always there.
