  1. I had a '72 Pinto Squire wagon, fake woodgrain, chrome roof rack and all. I bought it in '73 when gas prices shot up. It had just over 6k miles and was a 2.0L 4-speed, red w/black vinyl interior. After a couple of years I pulled the drive train out and replaced it with a 289 with a C4 auto trans and 8" rear axle assembly, all from a '65 Mustang. Fit surprisingly well and the fuel mileage wasn't bad either. I ran it that way for a few more years before replacing the 289/C4 combo with a 351W 4V and toploader 4-speed from a '69 Torino GT. Now that was a true sleeper and a really fun little car.

  2. The faster charging is certainly competitive. The EVs that charge faster are 800 volt systems (most, including Ford are 400 volt). That’s a generational change, and not something you’ll see in a minor refresh.

  3. On my morning commute, my exit is a lane that turns into an off ramp, so it's usually moving at highways speeds until it actually diverges from the highway itself. It never ceases to amaze me how many people will come screaming up in the lane next to it, then expect me to slow down so they can get in front of me, when there was literally a quarter mile of empty lane behind me THAT THEY JUST WENT SCREAMING PAST. Year, sorry buddy, but poor planning on your part does not constitute emergency on my part.

  4. That's why I usually keep the fogs lit on my truck, but it's amazing how many people can't figure it out and flash me anyway. It's worse when I'm towing heavy; I have a Roadmaster Active Suspension setup on my rear suspension, and that helps keep the rear from squatting as much as the stock springs, but she still squats some when the trailer is heavy.

  5. I'll have to disagree a bit with @akirby on this one. It goes well beyond borderline incompetence! The GSM shouldn't have asked the Fleet Manager for advice as the fleet order process is completely different from the retail order process, with priority codes that indicate a requested production week and a lot of other differences. And a GSM that doesn't know about the new retail order priority codes, how to contact the Ford Zone Manager, about retail order priority codes and reprioritizing at the regional level, etc... inexcusable!

  7. That’s not a dealer I would do business with. Borderline incompetence.

  8. I meant in terms of it being too small for this market and not generating much revenue or profit.

  9. Check the tire pressure. May not have been lowered after shipment.

  10. You should. It’s just as exciting as a better motor on your air compressor.

  11. Hah. I replaced my wife's 65 Mustang with a new Pinto Hatchback..4 speed, dark green -nice little car. We lived in Brewster NY ( Junction of I-84 and what is now I-684.) I worked in White Plains. This was during first oil embargo-gas only odd/even days depending on plate number. So she was teaching school and would gas up cars during her lunch break. I had taken it to work one day and it was stolen right out of parking garage.. Cop said econoboxes were the hot stolen car. One thing I remember was driving to work with it one morning and looked around me and I was one of 6 Pintos in "formation"

  12. Just had a chat with the General Sales Manager about my order and the priority codes available for 2024 Super Duty orders (3 to 19). He was not familiar. He said he talked to the Fleet Manager, who has been with Ford for 17 years, and the Fleet manager said the best priority code is 10. I cited the Blue Oval Forum as my source and also a video produced by Jorge Lopez Tomball Ford on July 21, 2023 indicating the change to priority codes for 2024 Super Duty orders. I also discussed contacting the Ford Regional Zone Representative and requesting a re-prioritization to a Priority Code 01 or 02. He was unfamiliar with the process or even how to contact the Ford Regional Zone Representative. He asked if there was a telephone number posted on the Blue Oval Forum for the Representative, I said no. I pointed out there are different zone representatives throughout the country and this is only for a Dealership to make contact. To his credit, the General Sales Manager said he would pursue this, i.e., finding out how to contact the Ford Regional Zone Representative, and would be getting back to me. Thank you to Ice-capades for responding to me comment of April 3.

  13. They didn’t rush T3. They didn’t rush Mach-E or Lightning - they are good first effort vehicles and learning experiences and they’re doing ok with proper pricing. The only thing rushed was Oakville.

  15. There are some great stories here of dumbest traffic ticket. Here's mine. I was commuting into Washington, DC from suburban Maryland where I live. The traffic was heavy, but I was keeping my distance from the car in front of me. I was coming up to a stop light with several cars already stopped at the light. I was slowing down, ready to stop when someone rear ends me so hard that it propelled my car into the rear end of the car in front of me (the last of the stopped cars). A DC policeman came by to assess the accident and gave me a ticket for "following too close." I was going to contest it, but my boss required me to travel the week of my court date so I just gave up and paid the darned thing.
