  1. Looks like the only thing the Mach E shares with the Mustang is the badge.
  2. If it wasn't for purists the Mustang would have died in 1988, or at least turned into a FWD coupe. Same thing, really.
  3. My Colorado has cylinder deactivation and based on my experience it is a waste of money and adds mechanical complexity. I rarely see the V6 go into V4 mode and when it happens I'm virtually in a coasting condition on a low speed urban road. I never see V4 mode at highway speeds unless I'm going downhill (again, coasting conditions). The 3.6L V6 has 2.4L displacement in V4 mode. The Coyote will have 2.5L displacement in V4 mode. I can't see cylinder deactivation providing much benefit in a 5.0L V8 F-150 either. A 6.8L V8 in V4 mode will have more displacement than the base V6 offered in the F-150 so maybe it will work well.
  4. The battery charging times will take the luster off that 3.7 seconds.
  5. As V8's are getting rarer and rarer their last refuge will be in pick-up trucks and heavy duty trucks. So if Ford wants pare down to one V8 architecture in it's lineup it is going to be the Godzilla.
  6. Here's a link for anyone that wants to take a trip down the Pro Stock engine building rabbit hole: https://www.enginelabs.com/engine-tech/engine/pro-stock-engines-whats-the-secret-to-those-big-power-numbers/
  7. That's impressive but that's about as gross as gross horsepower gets.
  8. I still call them Dodge trucks, not Ram. I don't think I'll ever change.
  9. I think the 7.3L V8 would be a great addition for Raptor. It'd be the perfect vehicle to get aftermarket support going for the 7.3L, starting with Ford Racing Performance Parts.
  10. Does anybody know if canted valve heads cost more to produce than inline valve heads? I ask because I always thought it was very cheap, and pointless, for Ford to produce the 2 valve SOHC Modular V8s with inline valves. At the very least they should have taken advantage of the SOHC layout and design a canted valve head like the Trick Flow 2 valve heads, or even like the old Dodge 4.7L SOHC V8.
  11. The canted valve heads are a nice tip of the hat to the Cleveland heads. I'm surprised the el cheapo Ford accountants let that one slide.
  12. Too bad Ranger doesn't offer the long box with the crew cab. The Colorado had that configuration available, so that's what I got.
  13. Hellion doesn't seem so confident about that. Regardless, the OEMs have to get the catalytic converters hot very fast to meet start up emissions. The turbo needs to mounted as close to the exhaust ports as possible... with at cats right behind. There's a lot of pipe between the exhaust ports and cats on the Hellion kit.
  14. EVs need a battery breakthrough. Low energy density and high charge times of current batteries can't compete with gasoline. Solid state batteries may be the answer... we'll see.
  15. I'd like to read an explanation on how a pushrod makes more low end torque. I need a good laugh.
  16. I looked at new trucks last fall and I couldn't get the Ranger I wanted... with a Crew Cab, Long Box (6'), RWD. The Red Hot Chevy Colorado I ordered in October arrived last Friday.
  17. The best looking mini-van ever. Ford should have built it with sliding rear doors.
  18. Rush (2013) is a really good car racing movie as well.
