  1. I was at first excited by the 2010 Fusion, but now I am thinking, man, that thing doesn't stand out from the crowd like the current one. The current Fusion is starting to get long in the tooth compared to modern design, but the new one looks blander and less unique. It needs a bigger Ford badge or something and the Focus' headlights. No unibrow either. I'm sure it looks great, but will it attract people away from Honda, Toyota and Hyundai?
  2. It really does look feminine without being outlandishly girly. I could see fashionable women liking it, from the pics supplied by BORG.
  3. Terrible idea. 'Nuff said. However, if they do merge there must be some basis behind it outside of the automotive industry, as GM doesn't need Chrysler itself. Even Chrysler's minivan reputation is weak now. I can see a weak reasoning to get the Dodge brand and merge it with Pontiac, but outside of that... no to Chrysler, no to Jeep.
  4. I'm going to get kicked for saying this, but the front end looks like the Prius. But the greenhouse looks like a cross between the Fusion and the older Honda Accord coupe.
  5. But what will you do if you need to fill up the trunk with stuff? You put speakers in the trunk of your Fusion. I put cactus trimmings in mine and take my car to the dump. (To each their own?)
  6. It's pretty sweet that the Sable is a swinger that smokes the 420. ...like every good grandma?
  7. I'm impressed the front end sucks in that damage without it being translated over to the driver. Then again, a crash probably costs a heck of a lot in bodywork with one of these babies...
  8. I like it as a graphic, but I'm not sure if it would stand out in the crowd. Reminds me of Plymouth's last logo with the boat in the circle. Strangely enough, the waterfall is more visible from a distance than a Roman head. What would be cool would be a Big M with stylized font. (Then again, I like Citroens)...
  9. To be fair, the Caprice is a stunner. It still looks great today. I kind of want one. However, at the time it wasn't seen the same way. As for the Crown Vic and compatriots, I'm not sure. Do you think any Crown Vic after the 1991 refresh looks that amazing?
  10. We're all looking at the Fusion's success on the merits of what is under the hood. I'm just concerned that the exterior of the thing needs to be spectacular for those merits to be realized and appreciated. I'm just not entirely seeing it. Remember the Five Hundred? Great car -- amazing package. Reliable as a rock. Failed exterior design language.
  11. To answer your most pressing question, there have been no major issues with the Five Hundred or Taurus. They are regarded as highly reliable with a growing track record.
  12. Excellent to hear -- Fusion could do with a competitive edge now that it is starting to get old.
  13. Thank goodness I buy cars to last until they die. It's kind of the smart way to go. I expect a ten to 12 year lifespan for my Fusion, or 170,000 miles, whichever comes first. I will wreak hell if anyone wrecks into me, though, as that screws up the plan! :fire: My only reason to trade would be if this I4 Fusion really can't tow, but I almost could see a Crown Vic cop car in my future if that really goes that way. I mean, two grand for a used CV that won't be my daily driver? Sounds okay to me.
  14. Who would want that? (Unless Mercury has an upcontented hybrid like the Prius) Seems like a mixed message.
  15. A Mercury Ka. That actually kind of sounds nice. Mercury Ka. As for the rest, not sure.
  16. Yeah but not much was great for Mustang sales in the '70s. Mustang II was a bit more where it was at.
  17. I really don't understand this "shield" motiff Acura is emphasizing. The back looks cheap and almost... Pontiac-like.
  18. The big question is, was it a dealer ad or a national buy?
  19. I like the emulation of stow-n-go seating. But what can it haul?
  20. Nice tribute in the NYT today. Wonder if it was freelanced? (Hadn't kept track of that author)
  21. Yeeouch. Wonder how the back of the roof got collapsed in this incident though. It almost... almost looks like he wrecked it and it flipped and hit a tree with the roof. Then again, how did the engine get ripped out before this? Photo: http://cmsimg.app.com/apps/pbcsi.dll/bilde...650&title=0
  22. Remember like a year ago when we all got excited by those MKS first-see shots from the movie set ?
  23. Wait, did they make any changes to this car-based truck ??
  24. I can see it angle more than the squircle (square circle) appearance of the Fusion. I wonder if the headlights will be Ford Five Hundred-ish. Compare-- Five Hundred: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...ive-Hundred.jpg New Milan spy shot: http://www.leftlanenews.com/wp-content/plu...idg=1&idi=2
  25. Does this have any sort of shape to it? Can you push it around (to figure out if it is a loose piece)? Maybe it is a spring that got loose and now is sticking downward into the fabric.
