I love the profile too, just very sporty. Haven't seen anything that mentioned a white, black or silver roof. When I saw the crease on the C pillar I thought that would be an option like on Flex.

While you are correct with the cars being different 65 - 73 are pretty universally referred to as the first generation Mustang.

That is the problem, I don't want an imitation I want the real thing!

Sadly the manual will completely die with the takeover of the electric car. I weep ?

I love the sound of the V8 engine so much and as a getting to be old guy would buy a V8 Mustang 10 years from now. But I am sure the intoxicating feel of the instant torque and fast acceleration from the Electric motor would make up for some of that and I would of course buy the electric. Maybe it will be available with fake V8 sound for us old guys.

My guess would be sales have gone to Tacoma (not sure what Toyota truck sales were those years) and small sport utilities will hold buyers that might have gone for a Ranger if they didn't exist which for the most part they didn't during Rangers last run.

Ford Trademarks Mach-E, Thunder, and Evos Names
tzach replied to rmc523's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I agree Mach - E is stupid. Most of general car buyer do not know a Mach I anyway. Just use Model E then I think more people would get that at least or you know come up with a good name. -
From my eye it looks like a lot of the new utilities from everyone looks to be lower and longer. Ironically turning into wagons and improving handling over taller utilities.

The grill in the drawing does not look as tall as the PIU one. Usually in renderings the vehicle is drawn a little more aggressive than reality. I don't think the front will be bad but probably could have been much better. The light shape is not as important as the details inside the light, not just boring but some cool shapes and colors, as well as how cool the LED accent lighting looks.

Meet the 2020 Maverick (Baby Bronco)!
tzach replied to LSchicago's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I like it and my wife loves it we are in our 50's. Also the flex missed yes but I think because it was too wagonish utilities are getting longer and lower now so I think it was just ahead of where the market was going. Plus millennials are the target market nowadays. I think this will do great. I think when they changed the escape they lost buyers but gained more different ones and this could bring back some of the old one again. -
Since most people don't know anything about cars for the most part this is probably a sound business decision. After all the owner is in business to make money and might not care about cars at all. It is just for those of us who are savvy it makes some of the salesman seem like they nothing about cars in general or the specific one they are selling. They should at least have a knowledge of the features of the cars at the dealership though.

You know I just realized that the less new cars that are sold then the less used cars there will be and the more expensive they will get for anyone that does want one. It will be a vicious cycle. Oh well hopefully that process will take long enough that it doesn't effect me too much.

I agree with this. This just encourages people to over rely on these safety features and create even worse drivers than we already have. I remember an article back in the early 90's when anti-lock brakes were coming to main stream cars. It compared the same models with and without anti-lock and the ones with them had a lot higher single accident rates. Now of course you can't not have new safety features but make it clear that these are not to take the place of attentive driving. Yeah who an I kidding!

They should have just left it Sport. Do they think being an ST will increase sales?
-
Would love for this to be true but no matter how much we dream it just is not. As stated people want SUV/CUV not big cars. I would buy a Continental you describe just add a 5.2 L Voo Doo and a 6 speed manual and I am sold. Of course the odds of me hitting it big with the lottery and building my own are bigger than Ford ever building it.
-
Does alienate = not buy another? If not, I don't think it is a problem how mustang fans feel. Lets not forget a Mustang is a Ford first and using cues from it to add excitement to other vehicles is a good idea if it helps people get excited about buying other "cool" Ford vehicles. Not sure how many people will feel the same as you but I would bet it is not as many as you think. Plus they will get over it. Also a Mustang owner and fan!

Fusion to live on, as Sports Wagon
tzach replied to mackinaw's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
To me all SUV/CUV's are wagons, tall ones yes but wagons just the same. People may think they aren't cool but SUV's are. Ironically it seems all the newest SUV's are actually getting lower and more "Wagon Like" anyway. -
Next Gen Mustang has a 2022 Production date....
tzach replied to Twin Turbo's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Totally agree, Unfortunately once the idea is out there it becomes fact in most peoples minds. I bet if you did a survey 98% of people would say FWD is far superior to RWD in wet and snow conditions. Maybe Ford is intending to slot a FWD/AWD CUV in between Escape and Edge while moving Edge and Explorer up market a little. -
How, you listed 5 for each and from a purely visual standpoint the Edge grill update is easier to see including shape and grill look.
