  1. Vertrek? Which explains why it's not at the Cleveland Auto Show...
  2. I completely agree. And I hope, if they do, they don't make it look as comical/flashy/boy-racerish as the Focus ST.
  3. metech is most likely correct. I couldn't tell you if I have the same issue on mine though, due to the fact that I've listened to only Sirius since December '05.
  4. Ummmm, what do you think the "awesome, factory built 2011 escape" is?
  5. Do you know what the next-gen Escape/Kuga is even going to look like? Cripes sakes you've already decided you don't like something and you haven't even f-ing seen it. Classic negatard-ism. Ugh....
  6. I know what you mean, but, she'd take a Mustang in a heartbeat. Just not a Focus ST.... But I need a daily driver, I'd like to go back to 3 pedals, gotta have all the options, and not look like I'm driving to buy Tokyo Drift on DVD at the swap meet.
  7. Well the wife said she's not driving or riding in the ST model. "We did that 15 years ago" referring to my then brand-new Escort GT. I actually agree with her on this one. Anyone hear anything about possibly a Fusion ST, like maybe with a 2.5 EB and 6 speed? I'd buy that, if they didn't rice-it-up like they did on this Focus ST.
  8. http://www.vizualogic.com/ This company makes some pretty good stuff. The fabric match is perfect, although you might need to order one for an Escape since the Mariner isn't listed.
  9. I too am upset that they won't offer the third pedal in SEL or Titanium trim. The auto is supposed to get better mileage, and the ST is manual only. So now I am stuck between: Loaded Titanium or ST. I would trade a remote start for a manual trans any day. However, I'm afraid the ST might appear to be too boy-racer-ish. I might have to wait to see one in a dark color to decide. Does it really cost that much more to offer 2 trannys in the higher trims? I'd imagine that's why they don't, but I'm having trouble imagining why...
  10. As far as adding power windows, 'Frankencar' is a bad idea, and would be a nightmare to say the least. The aftermarket kits should be fine if installed correctly. I used to work for a shop that, among many other things, installed them. It's funny though, we used to put in power window, power door lock, and cruise control on a lot of new cars for dealers. You'd think it would save money to just order them that way from the factory. Anyway... I vote also for option D. I see a 2012 Focus in my future, that is, unless they bring a 3rd pedal back to SEL trim in the Fusion.
  11. I too am sick of people so hot on the Sonata's exterior. The hood and grill make it look like they hit a pedestrian on the way out of the factory.
  12. Finally, someone is making sense- that explains why if you reset your MPG and then switch back over to reading the Miles to Empty, that number doesn't change. Thanks akirby!
  13. However you figure it out, what ever. My point is, as I stated, it's not as accurate as one thinks: if I'm at a half of a tank left, I see the same number of Miles to Empty every time. That to me is no more than a numerical gas gauge, and it's not accurate. I feel that Miles To Empty could and should be more accurate. Like, the fuel gauge sender should tell the computer how much gas is left in the tank, it should then multiply it from the current MPG average, and then that's the number.
  14. I've noticed that the 'Miles to Empty' is not as accurate as one thinks. Blazerdude is right, it's just a numerical gas guage. John Stossel on 20/20 a couple years back did a piece where they drove a Caravan until it was on '0 miles till empty' then they kept driving it for a long time until it finally ran out. I can't remember but it was like another 30 or 40 miles. The explanation they got from auto engineers was that Americans like to have a reserve built in. But they said that Germans prefer their gas guages to be precise.
  15. Having owned a V-6 and currently driving an I-4 Fusion, I can attest that the above posters are dead on. My previous-gen V-6 had a great tone under acceleration, and real-world driving would average about 19mpg. I bet the new V-6 porbably gets a little better than that. Right now, I'm at 26mpg. When I say 'real-world' that means I don't reset the mpg meter every day, or even month. That way it gets a good long-term average. I'll reset it after Memorial Day when we finally get our summer gas around here, and it'll probably go up another point or so. The I-4 is perfect for an everyday commuter, and will get even better when $4 per gallon gas returns.
  16. We used to have 2 big businesses in my town. One was a Ford dealer, the other is a retirement home. The Ford guy is retired now but used to sell an amazing amount of Crown Vics, and earlier in the 80's everything that could be had in a wagon was on his lot. And they all ended up being sold to the nice old folks up the street. Focus wagons galore up there when they first arrived. My grandpa bought the first Taurus wagon in our area. He called it 'The Flying Potato'. My parents bought one of the first Aerostars. In my quest for the fountain of youth, I shall never drive a wagon nor minivan! But I do see a 2013 Focus Sedan I-4 6M in my future...
  17. ...and would probably stay that way if you were driving a wagon. No offense, but come on everyone. There are 3 types of people who love wagons. 1) The Europeans. 2) Car nerds (such as myself and most if not all on this board). And 3) Old grandmas. And that's the way it is in the States. Yes it looks awesome and it's probably the nicest wagon we've seen in- well, ever, but can't we just be happy that we are finally getting the REAL Focus?
  18. Yeah- probably like switch or a relay. Look at it on the positive side, at least you can get it to engage some of the time. That's half the battle!
  19. Not sure about water entering, but we've discussed trans problems on here before, usually fixed by the most recent TSB's. I hope they checked those out when you had your engine replaced!
  20. Me too. I've noticed if the door is open and you start the truck, they go off for a split second and then come right back on. fordtech1 is probably right, it's most likely a software problem. Have your dealer tech check it out! By the way, today's engines are designed to be driven in seconds after starting. Letting your engine warm up is nice on a cold day if you want the heater warm, and it also lowers emissions when the exhaust cat is warmed up, but as far as oil flow- it's good to go as soon as you turn the key.
  21. I may have had the same rattle in the overhead console that you have. With me, it was the clear light cover that was making all that noise. Try to get it wedged in there better. I just moved it around until it stopped rattling and I haven't had any more problems after that!
  22. I've tried a number of different brands over the years. I used to be stuck on Bosch but even the top-of-the-line Icon would never fit right on the back wiper. And they are IMO over-priced. Duralast (AutoZone brand) was cheapest and worked well from the start, but squeaked too much. Right now I'm loving Rain-X Weatherbeaters that fit perfect and seem to be lasting the longest. Also they're quiet, clean the whole window, and reasonably priced too. BTW welcome to the forums
  23. Well that explains why my 06 never did that. Cool, thanks for the info everyone.
  24. Everyone with a 2010 give this a shot- put the key in the ignition. Turn it to start and IMMEDIATELY release so that it springs back to the run position. You will notice, that after a short pause. the car cranks the starter for as long as it needs to and starts all on its own. So, holding the key to the start position until the car is fired up is unneccessary, all you have to do is turn it to start but you don't have to hold it there to activate the starter. It almost works like a push button starter. Does all this even make sense? Just try it, it's cool. I didn't look yet though- is it explained in the manual?
  25. I used to work at a stereo shop back when I was in high school and cringed when the boss gave me a Code alarm or Audiovox to install. You knew it was going to either work with no problems at all or you'd plan on seeing it many times again after- no gray area. You unfortunately have the latter. If I were you, I'd have them take it out. There have been huge advancements in the alarm/remote start world in 20 years (which is what your technology dates back to.) For a couple hundred bucks you could have the latest and greatest technology protecting your truck. The local stereo shop (stay away from B Buy and the big guys) should fix you up. Sometimes that's just the way it is. Some equipment just doesn't work right in some cars, even though by all accounts it should. If they've already replaced the unit and it's still tripping, there's no hope.
