Revised 2023 2.3 Liter EcoBoost
baggs32 replied to edselford's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
So whay aren't the new turbo I4s getting both port and direct injection to help keep the valves clean? The 2.7L and 3.5L V6s both got it in the past few years so why aren't they adding it to the smaller motors too? Or is that issue so small now it's not really worth addressing? -
Does anyone know where one could find information on current early bird lease termination programs being offered currently? My '12 Escape lease is up on 7/16 and the most recent program in this area only let you turn yours in 3 months early if it was up between 4/1 and 6/30 so I missed the boat on that one. I assume these are regional so I'm hoping our region gets another one that I can take advantage of.

Note to HondAcura, this is how you do LED headlights so they don't look stupid when they are turned off.

GMC could get a version of the Chevy Trax/Buick Encore

Add GMC's square-like wheel openings to that thing and you'll have a uni-brow effect going on. Not good. -
Lincoln Debuts Harman Revel Speakers in 2016 MKX!
baggs32 replied to hbalek's topic in Lincoln Nautilus / MKX Forum
I have to disagree with that silvrsvt. The JBL system in my dad's '96 Sable is still to this day one of the best I've heard in a car. It still works to this day while my niece drives it around. This announcement would make me consider moving up to a Lincoln. First they need to get something with 3 rows that fits in my garage or doesn't serve as a hearse though. Oh, and by next June when my current lease is up. -
Escape AWD vs MT SUV of the Year
baggs32 replied to JasonM's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Let's not forget the 26 recalls on the 2001 Honda Civic. I think it was originally something like 12 or 13 like the 2001 Escape but it has expanded quite a bit over the years. -
Ford Announced 4 Recalls, 1.4Mil Vehicles Affected
baggs32 replied to ANTAUS's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
So why is my 2012 Escape not affected? What changed in that last year of the last gen? Never had an issue with floor mats in my '11 Fusion. I don't get why floor mats are so complicated to understand for some people. ***Edit**** Nevermind, found the answer in the Detroit News. The part was updated in late 2010 so likely only some of the MY2011 copies are affected. -
How much worse can it get for GM right now? Not the way to showcase your new model! http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nascar/2014/02/15/daytona-shootout-pace-car-catches-fire-sprint-unlimited/5523123/

Ford October 2013 Sales Results
baggs32 replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Looks like the Escape and CR-V will be neck and neck for the SUV sales crown again. Nothing else is close as far as I can tell. Honda October 2013 sales -
J.D. Power ranks hybrid as worst car for quality

This is the same survey that put Hummers in the doghouse some years ago because owners were complaining of poor gas mileage. Yes, a very useful index indeed. Link -
Phlan Reviews New Lincoln MKZ
baggs32 replied to FordBuyer's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
"Most automakers use different platforms, or architectures, for their luxury and mass-market brands, but the MKZ shares its platform and most systems with the Fusion." Someone needs to clue this joker in that Lexus, Acura, Infinity, and Audis all share platforms and systems with their mainstream versions to some extent too. Especially the first three. -
I hope large parts of those renderings are wrong like everything they borrowed from the Camaro for starters. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the flagship, the Corvette in this case, supposed to lead the styling parade while the little sisters, the Camaro in this case, borrow some styling elements from it later? This thing looks like the reverse of that logic.

Fusion Investigation Upgraded
baggs32 replied to Hugh's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Ah, I see. I do have the dual button driver's mat. Seems to me the "problem" has nothing to do with the retention system whether it's single or dual button though. Is movement of the mat from side to side on the single retention point part of the problem maybe? If that's the case then I could see this being a true issue. -
Fusion Investigation Upgraded
baggs32 replied to Hugh's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Same thing happened with our Flex back in '09. Of course the Toyota thing hadn't happened yet so I never gave it a second thought and just removed the all weather mats myself. I have a 2011 Fusion that apparently is not part of the investigation. What changed from 2010 to 2011 and why? I would have thought they would be the same. -

Chevy's Freshened Traverse Looking Homely in Real Life
baggs32 replied to PREMiERdrum's topic in Competing Products
That frontal shot makes it look like Honda designed it. However people won't buy these in droves because of the emblem on the hood as they would a Honda. Incentives will be this thing's best friend. -
Eyes-Free Comes to Chevy "The Siri Button"
baggs32 replied to BORG's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I think he was saying that they could have just put the iPad 4 on the market as the 3 rather than do both within 7 months. I think the new connector was the big reason to release the 4 early. How else would they sell all those expensive new connectors and docks for Christmas? They'll certainly sell more now rather than in March. -
Eyes-Free Comes to Chevy "The Siri Button"
baggs32 replied to BORG's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Even though that's meant to be a joke it just about says it all right there. It's been said here that better mics in the cars will make Siri function just as it would in a quiet room. I still say that's BS because Google's voice search in their app (I've only used it on iOS) works a million times better, on an iPhone and iPad, regardless of where you use it. iPhones have noise cancelling mics built in so I don't buy that better microphone idea. If you're looking to buy a vehicle with a Siri button my advice is to wait a couple of years when Google maps and Google voice are used for iOS maps and Siri respectively. -
Eyes-Free Comes to Chevy "The Siri Button"
baggs32 replied to BORG's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
Let's face it, the Siri button will be garbage and GM is the guinea pig for this. I bet other mfrs back out of their plans for this once they see how badly it fails. To use Siri effectively, if even possible based on my experience, you need a quiet room and you need to speak slowly and clearly to it. The cockpit of a moving vehicle is not ideal for Siri commands to be spoken in. For example, if I'm driving my car with the windows open I can still make Sync understand my commands if I speak louder because it's geared towards scenarios like that and was built for use specifically in a car. Speaking louder to Siri actually makes it function worse, then add in the wind from the downed windows and you have a recipe for complete failure because it was built to be used up close and personal in a quiet place. My coworker can use Siri via bluetooth in his '11 Kia Optima but gave up on it after it repeatedly misunderstood his requests to send texts and make calls via Siri. Since it's cold here now his windows were up and he was alone in the one example he gave to us. You would figure those to be optimal conditions for using Siri in the car but "she" still failed to understand what he was saying repeatedly. -
Eyes-Free Comes to Chevy "The Siri Button"
baggs32 replied to BORG's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
"While in Eyes Free mode, Siri will not provide answers to complex questions that require displaying a web page." Siri is useless to begin with. Take away the ability to disply answers as a web page, as it obviously should in a car, and there's not much use for it at all then. So what's the point of this new integration if it only works with one type of phone? It's just a fancier version of the specialty iPod cable that some vehicles used to come with or charge you extra for. -
While the Fusion may be the better all around car I was very surprised at how much better the Accord Sport with manual trans. was when compared to the Fusion SE with the 1.6L and manual trans. The Accord beats it in price, features, and acceleration. I think that might be a first for a Honda, especially the price part, but it's still a low volume seller so it doesn't matter much in the whole scheme of things.

Educate me on leasing....
baggs32 replied to silvrsvt's topic in Ford Motor Company Discussion Forum
I'm on my 6th lease (5 of them through Ford) and I've never paid a security deposit so try to get that waived if you can. If, by deposit, you mean money down all that does is lower your monthly payment so avoid that too unless you really need the lower payment. You do not get that money back for any reason either. I've traded a couple lf them in a month or two early because of fantastic lease deals I couldn't pass up on vehicles I wanted but remember that you do have to pay all of the payments in full when you turn it in early. I my case I just rolled them into the new lease which increased the montly payment a little but not significantly
