  1. I give it six months... The media is already calling the Big 3: Ford, Toyota and Honda Sadly, I would have to agree with them.
  2. Those are excellent choices. I would imagine many ex-Pontiac customers will consider the Fusion/Milan sedans. Its definitely sad to see the brand go. One of my all time favorite cars growing up (besides KITT) was my uncles Black 1992 Pontiac Trans AM GTA convertible. Killer looks and a deep rumble exhaust to go with it. Good luck with an eventual (Ford) purchase.
  3. As someone who understands what it must be like, I say Welcome! This forum isn't exactly the most welcoming. But you will get to know the various personalities if you stick around. Any idea which Ford product you are considering?
  4. So far the MKZ is turning out to be better than I expected. The interior and gauge cluster is certianly the best of any Lincoln past or present. The car brings back fond memories of my Silver 1990 Signature Series Lincoln Continental.
  5. Thanks for the pics. The 2010's are slowly hitting the streets. I already saw a 2010 Fusion on the road over the weekend. It appeared to be the High MPG Fusion S model. I think this will be a big seller thanks to its size, gas mileage and price.
  6. My thoughts on this car: 1. Wow... Wow.... Wow... WOW!!!!! I haven't been this excited about a Mustang since the 03 Cobra 2. Cant wait for Motor Trend to get their hands on one. I expect 3.9 sec 0-60 and an 11.8x sec quarter mile. 3. Awesome interior/exterior design and quality. 4. Love the extra Cobra/GT500 touches like the snake that appears on the nav when the car is fired up. 5. Where do i sign? :beerchug:
  7. I cant take any more of this teasing. I want to see the US Spec already :P
  8. Much much cleaner design compared to the last gen 427R. Wing still looks a bit awkward though....
  9. Nice truck man... Good Luck Great color choice too.
  10. If GM or Ford offered a truck with this motor I would buy it in a heartbeat.... too bad things have turned out this way.
  11. What an awesome truck... my combo: Black on Black, no graphs, 6.2 Please.... Blue aint bad either
  12. I'm really looking forward to this re-fresh. I was a bit dissapointed with the current front end styling. The current model looks tough, but the bare bones work horse just looks terrible. All hail the 6.7 Liter Scorpion Diesel! Cant wait for the specs.
  13. Whoa.... Dont get me wrong Mr. White99GT, you're the one who said "the Mods Clearly Suck". All I said was that 1999+ (as you so clearly proved above) was when the mod motor came alive and really started to dominate. And by Forced Induction, I ment both Super Charged and aggressively tuned intake porting. Just for the record: The 2000 Cobra R cost $54,995 and was only equal in performance to the underrated $34,595 03/04 Cobra... and that's with the CD player and A/C running. BTW, I hope your not accusing me of Brochure Shopping.... I have bought, sold, raced, and studied plenty of cars on my own... dude.
  14. I'm really happy to see this as well. I guess this is the Re-birth of Ford. Racing has always helped Ford compete for customers on the showroom floor. Its the original formula and probably the one that works best. American car manufacturers have had a severe identity crisis lately. If you think about it they will always be known for Stock Cars & Dragsters in my opinion. Even if those cars share no parts whatsoever with a mainstream fusion, focus, taurus or even a cobalt. The image is there, its patriotic and it sells. As for the Mod family motors. It only became a good motor once Ford figured out how to shove more air down its throat (read: forced indcution). That became apparent with the 1999-2001 Cobra Fiasco. This... I think was the turning point for the motor.
  15. Yea, I realized that the other day while watching TV and a Ford Flex commercial came on. Suddenly it hit me... If the flex doesn't start selling soon it could be the next C/V Interceptor replacement. If you think about it... it makes a decent Paddy Wagon and even gets better gas mileage than a Tahoe. Anybody want whip up a Flex Interceptor or Taurus Interceptor using photoshop? Be sure to use those Low Pro roof lights...
  16. I'm pretty sure racing sponsorship sells cars and trucks. It connects with kids at a young age and when they are old enough to afford a car, they buy their dream car. And then when they grow out of that, hopefully they would trade it in at the dealership for something more family oriented. I think racing brings people into the dealership whether the engines are the same or not... it does trickle down. Race on Sunday Sell on Monday: Link
  17. I agree. I think a Hybrid Mustang is possible. Here are my thoughts for a Hybrid Mustang Model: Engine: Ecoboost 4/Electric Drive. Power Output: 275-285hp Body Style: Convertible to justify for the premium price & convertible drivers might embrace the hybrid more Mileage: 33mpg City 27hwy So it would be: Mustang V6, Mustang GT, Mustang GTH(hybrid), Mustang GT500... that would be nice :shades:
  18. ahem... (clears throat) Um... I've been watching this FWD vs. AWD vs. RWD battle patiently from the sidelines and thought I would step in here. I agree 100% with Blueblood (hears the outrage in the crowd) FWD cop cars just wont cut it in 70% of the nation with dry roads. Its been proven over and over that RWD, specifically solid axle CV and Caprice cars are the most durable for police duty. They are essentially trucks in the shape of cars. I'll never forget an episode of Myth Busters when they attempted to break away the solid axle from under a CV cop car like they do in the movies. They looped iron braided cables around the live axle and tied it to a pole. When they slammed the gas and at 50MPH when they ran out of rope, the iron cables snapped and caused no damage to the CV whatsoever. You would never have the same outcome in an FWD, AWD or a Charger. The argument that Ford does not have the resources to build an RWD platform is understandable. But I'm not going to sit here and listen to folks say Ford can survive without RWD products or that both FWD and RWD have the same durability. Once an FWD car gets above 200 hp/ 200 ft lbs of torque it looses its composure and starts causing problems. Just my thoughts.
  19. Thank GOODNESS! Now I dont have to fight with Budget Rent-a-Car everytime i rent from them on a business trip. They keep pushing the PT cruiser on me as a Mid Size car which it isn't. And even if somehow it does qualify, I still cant stand driving it. Hopefully I'll be put into a Fusion or Milan more often now.
  20. Hmmm.... that was interesting. I think they left a few out: 1. 1995 to 1999 Nissan Maximas 2. Buick GNX (awesome car by the way) 3. 2004-Present Acura TSX (deserves an RWD chassis like the S2000) 4. 1998-2002 Lexus GS300 5. 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado w/285 hp 4.8L V8. Tons of power in a small fuel efficient motor. Should have used it everywhere. 6. 2006-Present Toyota Camry w/268 hp 3.5L V6. 0-60 6.1 sec (MT)
  21. I too think sales will be up this month. Wouldn't be surprised at "only" a 17-20% decline from December of last year with the F-150 losing only 13-16%. I'm seeing a lot of new plates driving around... Ford & other.
  22. Well deserved and hard earned win over the new Dodge Ram. I too agree that the new Dodge is a nice truck. Prior to the LA Auto show, i was convinced that the Dodge was a truck that I would consider buying. But once I saw the rear exhaust cutting through the back bumpers... I lost interest (among other things). The F150 is a much better truck all the way around... and its only going to get better. As for MT. I think it's a good publication (have every mag since '91). Some might not agree, but I think its the one magazine that represents detroit the best. And they also produce the best numbers when it comes to track tests.
  23. This reminds me a bit of my 03 Cobra. At startup it fired up like a V8 and rumbled like a V8. But once, you got into boost, the super charger whine would overshadow any of the V8's acoustics. Probably the same issue with the Turbo Six. Its probably going to be difficult to completely overcome turbo whine issues. They should add some Diesel sound effects... and mybe a blow off valve
