  1. Damn....stop teasin' us....I want a Mercury Villager and i don't care who knows it.....
  2. Not really...Chrysler sales, like their cars are in the crapper despite all known efforts to move 'em off the lots. While I wouldn't go as far as calling Toyotas' "junk" per se.....it amuses me that "joe consumer" and the media want to forgive them for their sins, yet cannot wait to pounce when Ford, GM or Chrysler messes up.... PS: And yes, the commercials make me want to puke too...
  3. My girlfriend just "pulled the trigger" this afternoon on a 2010 Escape XLT 203A package in steel blue with a stone cloth interior. This makes her third Escape, first a 2001 XLT V6, drove it for 105K trouble free miles, (her commute is 450 miles a week)...then a 2005 XLT V6 with moonroof, drove that one to 115K similarly trouble-free miles, now it is the 2010 Escape XLT, sun and sync package, satellite radio, flex-fuel V6.....see ya in about 5 years Ford for another....she just loves the way it drives and feels.
  4. I knew there would be an automotive April Fools Day joke coming...just didn't know from where....
  5. "Steve Jobs is a wonderful human being" iCar replies, "Sorry...not good enough, try again." "Steve Jobs is a fantastic element of the human experience." iCar replies, "I am not impressed, try again." "Steve Jobs is the Alpha and the Omega, without him life would have no meaning." iCar replies, "Ok, that'll do for now, but you better come up with something better next time." Car then starts and your music begins to play as you then are allowed to drive off.....
  6. <whew>....Thank god!!! Now Ford can head upscale in Europe and China with the brands they should have bolstered all along...Lincoln and Mercury, two great American upscale brands. Ford now has no excuse as to the lack of product for Mercury...it can be made into a great marque once again. I can see Ford using Mercury in Europe as the upscale line and using Lincoln in China for the second tier.
  7. Wrong!!! It is pronounced as "High-yun-day"...ask any appalachian mountain dweller....and when you check in the trunk, you will find their favorite chainsaw...a Pooooolan. :hysterical:
  8. Thinking out loud here..... Ford trio of 8 passenger CUV's Ford Explorer --- appeals to the sporty "outdoors-y" types Mercury Messenger (formerly Ford Flex) --- touches base with the urban upscale person that needs maximum room and style that knocks the PTA into the weeds Lincoln MKT --- the ultimate in style and over the road comfort that sets the stage for traveling with panache All three as different as can be, reaching out to different segments of the population, yet similar under the "top hat"
  9. Mulally accomplished what Bill Ford Jr couldn't....and the beauty of it is, Bill knew he didn't have what it took to make the changes that needed to be changed, but he did have enough sense to realize that he was in over his head and got the help that Ford Motor Company needed to succeed.
  10. RMC, I like the overall look, but the inverse crease in the center of the hood is not working for me....something along the lines of the 2010 Milan front end styling, in my opinion, would work a lot better and tie in the division look much nicer.....
  11. GRWD.....?? We have only heard of it...no one has actually seen it..... :shades:
  12. Maybe Ford will restyle the Flex and send it upmarket to the Mercury division.....
  13. PS....I like the look, and really dig the flatbed truck....
  14. I would assume it has to do with "pedestrian hit" standards...the hood crushes down instead of getting a sharply creased fender in the noggin.
  15. Very inspiring article...and with an ominous warning to go along with it...I just am not sure I will be able to even drive my 1976 Montego once it is done at the restoration shop....
  16. Not that he wouldn't want to, and I know where you are going with it, but...if the cutbacks are as he says, the person that is in charge of maintaining the physical structure of the plant is the one that is paid to perform these tasks and if that position has been cut...the light goes un-changed...if Alan was compensated at that number, couldn't Ford have diverted some to maintenance as well? Not sure if I want to try to change one of those... It is called "out-of-title" work....not that he is not allowed, but if there is a person that is designated to perform that task, then that person would have a sustainable grievance as outlined in their CBA. CBA's are agreed to by both sides of the work-site, and since the agreement is in place, they must honor the contents. If this is not protected, then you would have auto assemblers replacing light bulbs and electricians building cars etc etc etc....
  17. I would think that paying down the debt is different than paying off the debt
  18. Did you put in a work order? Similar problem where I work...everyone complains, no one actually does anything about it...always thinking, "The other guy did it...right?" ADD ON: Great job Alan....you are worth every penny. My stock is doing quite well, thank you.
  19. who knows and I don't really care...
