  1. Wasn't the Controur and Mistake, I mean Mystique a combo platform for NA and Europe? It was great in Europe but the cost cutting here and smaller footprint pretty much doomed it here. Great car new, especially with manual (even more so SVT model), but horrible reliability. You barely see them on the road anymore.
  2. Indeed. It's insane that a 28 year old truck can get 14.500. Not that i don't think it's a good deal. You can tell someone took care of it and it's really barely broken in. And it looks good to boot.
  3. I'll just buy this instead. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-ford-f-250-super-cab-long-box-4x4-custom/
  4. yes, and now the world is full of subject matter experts on every topic....even if that expert may have just discovered said topic
  5. agree....remember when there wasn't social media and instant rush to judgement knee jerk reaction (judge/jury/executioner mentality) within 2 minutes of story going public. Seems like eons ago.
  6. Oh the outliers, this is what makes statistics so much fun. Depending on your interpretation, the data can mean different things to different people which can be misleading.
  7. It's nice to get these tidbits but for the love of god just release this already. I know, I know...the dead horse is being beaten. Every other automaker is releasing new product information now, yet Ford is still on the pre Covid teaser plan that got a two and a half month pause. Out of all the new product roll outs from Ford in the last 10 years, from the stupid Bronco graphic rolled out by Fields to now this is getting ridiculous. We are at NSX level of tease. Sorry to rant
  8. I look at it this way, Bronco and Bronco Light. Still very much the same DNA, just not as much capability in the light version. How accurate this statement is, I don't know right now. Once they hit the trails, we'll know for sure. Worst case scenario, the Sport is just as capable as an Escape.
  9. Yes, and that is all we will see for a while dueling narratives. This just had to come in an election year where things are amped up even more so than usual. Both parties are guilty. The fact is though, it will mostly likely be years before we truly understand the origin The truth is out there we just need Sculley and Mulder to investigate. It will come out but will take sometime. Also, in my mind this biggest thing that needs to be figured out is if this is going to be an annual thing (like the flu) or we are going to be one and done once we get a vaccine. This is our new normal until it isn't. Learn it, love it, live it (stealing from a movie I can't remember)! What businesses adapt the best will be the ones to excel. I pray that Ford doesn't screw this up. Bronco/F150/Bronco Sport/Mach E are the future of the company. If these come out flat....I don't want to think about that.
  10. I bet this week. Ford opening Rawsonville was on the national news tonight, along with Hackett answering questions. One thing I found interesting from Hackett, he said during the production of ventilators none of the 1000 or so workers got Covid 19. That’s good to hear. Hopefully we can get the Bronco and Bronco Sport in production sooner rather than later.
  11. I am pretty sure rental car companies aren't buying cars right now.
  12. Yeah...he doesn't think too highly of Farley. He can be entertaining to read and have some good takes. However, he seems to hold grudges and sometimes has an ax to grind against some folks.
  13. Is it me or do those window openings seem really small? Something about it to me screams Suburu Baja to me. I know, I know very little can really be told from this photo.
  14. I agree. Stories saying Ford is most likely going to be alright don't generate the amount of clicks and buzz as, "OMG the sky is falling at Ford!"
  15. Just to add. I am almost 100 percent sure that most if not all of their AWD systems have coolers so no differential overheating from using. Something as a Ford AWD owner, I can't say.
  16. I kinda like this idea. I mean it's been out there for a while. I think Subaru's do a good job of providing a great AWD wagon experience. Their AWD systems are top notch. Now their interiors (which have gotten somewhat better) and engines have been the real disappointments. A 250hp AWD wagon with the 8 speed would be a nice option for people who don't necessarily want to drive an SUV/CUV. If they are developing it for Europe, it doesn't sound like it would be a huge financial lift to bring it here. Now, I just don't know how it would sell as the wagon market is really Suburu, Volvo, and VW.
  17. If parking weren't 300 month in downtown Chicago, I would drive to work. It would take me about 45 minutes. Public transit for me takes an hour and costs 100/month. I really have no interest in taking public transit to work anymore, until all the covid 19 dust is settled. For me it would probably cost an additional 300 month (with gas) and then the added wear and tear. It's on my radar but working from home is all I am doing now. I was on a call on Friday and many of my colleagues are saying the same thing. Nobody wants to get on a train or bus. One guy is eyeing a Civic right now just in case. My company is being pretty cool about this now as the earliest they would let staff into our office is mid June. They keep saying that they will not force us back into the office. It's clear they don't want our blood on their hands if someone where to get it and die from riding public transit into work. I can assure you, that right up until the city shut down the rush hour trains were packed (seated and standing) people coughing and sneezing like crazy. In the best of times, the trains are barely acceptable in terms of cleanliness.
  18. You're forgetting one major thing. Those profits from the Titian and Tundra, don't stay in the US. I have no idea where Ram goes. Titan and Tundra are both bottom of the barrel as far as being competitive. The only redeeming factor for Toyota is you get the quality (real or perceived) of Toyota. The Titan is the value pick. Neither sell well.
  19. Who said that? I thought they were already all in on it, especially with the discounts/money from the state and local governments.
  20. So they basically picked the cheaper Escape with base engine compared to the others with more options. Then gave it last place because they thought it was noisy and had a bad interior. Got it! If you look at the scoring, it got destroyed in the most subjective scoring. The Mazda with the worst fuel economy and space won the comparo because it's pretty in their opinion and is the best to attack twisty roads. Make sense since that what people buy these for.
  21. That article is a lot of speculative connecting of the dots, all based on one paragraph. Since this is a Ford site, we tend to focus only on Ford. However, I think we need to change our view on this to a more global perspective. If things keep spiraling out of control with Covid 19/recession/etc, I think we need to think of it as, "Which automaker is going to drop first, and potentially start a domino effect?" Was Ford in a great position? No. Was Ford the worst? Nope. Just off the top of my head Nissan, Mitsubishi, and Tesla (despite it's share price) are in a much more precarious situation if this continues. How good is FCA or GM? This has shades of the housing crisis recession because if one goes, then some suppliers will go. Suppliers go and supply chain explodes. Then worst case scenario for pretty much every automaker.
  22. That's the narrative that some really really want to portray.
  23. If this goes on much longer, big banks and credit grantors will be the ones to start to crumble first. If anyone thinks that Tesla will somehow make it through this unscathed, think again. Their house of credit cards will be the first to explode, awesome IP or not.
  24. I honestly think they need to break quality surveys down into 2 pieces, the actual car and software interface you use. Ripping cars because "the screen wasn't as fast as my ipad" is infuriating.
