  1. Perhaps? I mean, most on here are not the average buyer. I know I’m an outlier, that is for sure. What defines success for Kia with the Telluride? Sales? Transaction price? Awards? Media Hype? They sold 56k of these in 2019. I believe transaction prices were lower than Explorer? They sure got the awards and hype down though.
  2. 50k for a rather pedestrian powertrain with less than 300hp. Yeah I am sure this will sell well. I'll take a Explorer ST, Platinum, or Aviator at that price. I think Kia is letting this well priced product media attention go to it's head. It looks way better than it's priced. However, there is a reason why they are making the Genesis brand. Nobody is going to pay anything remotely that high for a Kia. It could be dipped in gold and nobody is going to buy it.
  3. Let’s not cherry pick to fit your narrative. What’s the percentage of ICE vs BEV’s sold in 2019. The whole picture tells you the demand.
  4. No, you are so wrong. Tesla has been selling cars since 2008 (along with other electrics) and have yet to make any dent on ICE. Technology and price will drive people away from ICE. Automakers will build what people will buy, not what some delusional analyst thinks will happen in the future. Until range, charge times, and cost fall in line with ICE vehicles the shift will be very long and gradual. When does that happen? I have no idea.
  5. ICE sells now. BEV's don't sell now. End of story.
  6. Any publication that got exposed rating Toyota's as "recommended"when they never tested, deserves some skepticism. I'm not saying their review of the Escape is fair or unfair but for me their biases have been exposed.
  7. CR and credibility do not go hand and in hand. A few too many biased mistakes to be taken seriously.
  8. Not to jinx anything....but meanwhile the Escape and Corsair production seems to be going much smoother. That or they're being tight lipped about the problems.
  9. No offense to anyone that works at this plant, but if this is found to be an issue with assembly (ie someone didn’t do their job), just shut that plant down! It continues to give Ford black eyes over and over! For such an important vehicle, they keep doubling down on shipping garbage out. Totally disregard if this is an engineering issue!
  10. I never said you had a crossover but I've noticed your comments of the Koreans have been glowing (and not just about Telluride and Pallisade), Look, I am not saying you can't have favorable views of other automakers and you must love Ford only. What makes the Lambda more reliable than a Honda 3.5 or Ecoboost 2.3? I was certain that the Lambda's had a lot of issues with oil consumption and head gasket issues (not sure about L2).
  11. It's not this crown jewel you make it seem to be. 291 peak hp out of a larger V6 is nothing to crow about. It' power or FE in the Tellurude or Pallisade isn't class leading. There is a reason why manufactures are moving away from larger displacement V6's. It seems you like all things Hyundai and Kia get your extreme praises. However, I don't buy it. It's very similar to magazine fluff, that gets distracted that with the shiny interior, pseudo luxury and price. Hyundai does make some good vehicles. I would take a Veloster if I didn't have a child ,for a fun city car. I just think there are folks that are going a bit overboard on what they bring to the table. When the first statement is, "look at what you get for the price". That doesn't necessarily mean its a better vehicle, it's just cheaper.
  12. I think you meant to say, you like the weak engine better. That engine lacks performance or fuel economy.
  13. If there is anything I am certain of, is that Ford will fight to the death to protect the F series. Tesla may have their protype F250, but I wouldn't start believing anything Musk says including price. You can doubt the BEV F150 but you can bet Ford won't sully the F150 name with a poorly performing BEV. Naysayers said the same thing about Ecoboost and to lesser extent Aluminum bodies, and that has turned out just fine.
  14. Two things: You have a full screen rear view camera to assist. It's possible that your wives vehicle could park itself (not sure if you have it optioned that way or not). It's just different ways to skin a cat so to speak.
  15. I think there is some deserved, criticism regarding the Explorer. As well as some hyperbole feeding into this negativity. In my opinion, the launch was a debacle. I think we all can agree about that. That led to some really poor quality vehicles getting out onto the lots. From what I've most of these issues have been resolved, it just took some time. The pricing and more spartan interior for the lower models, especially considering the Korean twins, is being blown out of proportion a bit due to the sensationalism of auto mags. The Korean twins have value and on the surface look luxurious. Is the engineering better? The Explorer has a much more sophisticated powertain/AWD system, gets better fuel economy, has all the gadgets that the Koreans do. Yet, all the naysayers say, well I can get a (near luxury) Telluride for that price of an XLT. Is the sky really falling? I don't think so.
  16. While some hate hard plastics, as a parent it's much easier to clean when your four year old has a tantrum and decides to launch his chicken nuggets with sauce. Just saying. Not concerned about the ever change crash ratings but Ford will most likely add anything additional needed for next model year so it's on the recommended list. I think with the horrible launch, increase in price, and comparo's with the luxury wannabes from Korea, the Explorer has had some bad press. However, in a year I think they will be selling like hot cakes. At least that's my take. I think it's better than what's being portrayed right now.
  17. Example 900, 876 of why not to buy a first year product out from Ford. I don't think I would buy anything made in that Chicago plant.
  18. 75% of the Nissan's I see in Chicago have Uber stickers. Infinity's are popular because they are the cheapest luxury make you can buy. They are always blowing them out here. The resale value for a 3 year old infinity is pretty bad. Here they appeal to a certain demographic that likes them because they are fast and fairly easily to mod. The VQ engine (since they made them since 2000), was a pretty good reliable engine too. I briefly and I mean briefly looked at one before I got my MKZ. The only thing I can say is they accelerate quickly and are fairly fast. Their tech until just recently made MFT look futuristic.
  19. I don't see how they don't go bankrupt or pull out of US market. It's not like they are going to magically make new vehicles that are profitable overnight. Who buys Nissan's? Rental car companies, people with bad credit, and Uber drivers. Infinity is garbage. The only thing they do well is stuff powerful engines in god awful pseudo luxury cars.
  20. Working in operations, I hated those late night wake up calls. The best of them were when I found it was a network issue so I could pass the joy to network engineers.
  21. It's sad but true. I would say 60% of drivers don't know how to change a tire. I usually inspect the jack/donut setup when I buy a car so there are no surprises if I need it.
  22. Thanks! I am bit bummed but I'll get over it. So will the Mustang move to CD6 or will CD6 be only Explorer and Aviator?
