  1. Short term, it can be but if you're going to do that you had better have a plan for when things go south.
  2. I don't know how they do it at OAC, but it would be feasible to do that through 2 body lines, and consolidate it into 1 line in the paint shop and final assembly shop. I believe that's how GM used to do it at Oshawa with the Camaro. They might do something similar to that at D-Ham, but i'm not 100% sure about that.
  3. Explorer isn't leaving CAP. It was agreed in the UAW contract
  4. Why would they close the plant? Even if CAP isn't flexible enough for 2 platforms, they aren't losing the Explorer anytime soon. I'll admit I don't know anything about CAP other than what they build. This would be a question for Decker to answer (he works there), but he harldy ever posts lately and rarely outside of the employee forum.
  5. For me to be hearing of target launch dates from local UAW reps tells me that the Ranger has been green-lit. The one that makes me raise an eyebrow is the Bronco. I have my doubts since it's supposedly 3 years away at least, and that's already on an accelerated launch schedule.
  6. Wow, that's brutal. More evidence that that transmission was nowhere near ready for the public. That transmission will never ever feel like an automatic to begin with, it's a manual transmission that just happens to shift automatically, there will always be a chance for it to roll on you. Ford (and likewise every dealer out there) did a piss-poor job of educating the public on that fact. Btw, I was referring to a manual transmission clutch initially
  7. I'm pretty sure that was (and still is) speculation.
  8. My team leader told me a story of them trying to write him up for something that had happened a month earlier and there was absolutely no possible way they could prove it was his fault This was 10 years ago
  9. BULLSHIT!! It needs to be V8 and RWD or it will NEVER SELL!!!
  10. FRAP would just do what they did the last time Mustang sales took a nosedive: eliminate 2nd shift. Their saving grace right now is the Continental and foreign Mustangs. If it weren't for those, a lot of people would be very nervous right now.
  11. The mood on the floor at MAP was somber at best last night. Most agree with you and are pissed off that Ford is dragging their heels with the Ranger. More and more of us are worried that our jobs will be gone (at lease semi-permanently) by this time next year while Focus sales continue to collapse. De-contenting it for 2017 sure as hell isnt going to help.
  12. No idea for Subaru, but Jeep (and FCA in general) gives very heavy incentives, unless it's the 200 or Dart.
  13. Well actually... It's both so you're both right.
  14. Well I mean technically the taillights are redesigned in a sense that the reverse lights are flipped from the top to the bottom of the bezel, but the shape is exactly the same. There's no discernible difference in the front end. I can't figure out what's "redesigned" about it. Literally the only way I could tell it apart from the '16 model was the wheels.
  15. Nope. Just saw one on the line. They barely changed anything.
  16. I've seen all of that with no real evidence to back it up. Usually the point is just repeated only louder and with a few fancier words added to make it seem like it's different.
  17. It's not ugly, in fact the back looks better than the hatchback which I think looks much better from 2015 on. I've seen a few running around town. I wouldn't say yes or no until I drive one should it ever come back to the US.
  18. I'm still waiting for someone, anyone, to demonstrate what exactly this is needed
  19. Caddy-vette is more of a halo car than a flagship to me
  20. My .02 When you take into consideration how heavy that car is (and yes, it is heavy, the front doors alone are about 100lbs each), those MPG numbers are damn impressive.
